After falling in love with a sampler quilt pattern in the late 1990’s, Kim impulsively purchased it, taught herself the steps needed to make the project, and realized she was completely smitten with quiltmaking. Winning a national contest with only the third quilt she'd ever made turned Kim's life down an unexpected path, and her new-found hobby quickly blossomed into a full-time career.

Kim's favorite quilt designs combine traditionally inspired patchwork and applique, and she loves stitching her projects from richly hued prints using modern time-saving techniques. In addition to being a prolific quiltmaker and authoring her on-going Simple series of books with Martingale, Kim designs quilting fabric collections and Simple Whatnots Club projects in her signature scrappy style for Henry Glass & Co.

Since retiring from an extensive travel and teaching schedule in 2015, Kim enjoys spending her days at home once again and doing what she loves most - designing quilts and fabrics, baking, stitching, gardening, and being a nana to her grandbabies.

I love the fabric lines by these ladies. The quilts in this book are of various sizes and difficulty. Using modern fabrics would be fun with many of these traditional designs.

Kim Diehl is a best-selling author. Just get one of her quilting books and you will see why. Her patterns are easy to follow. And she always adds quality diagrams. This book contains some fun patterns and delightful photos.

I have two patterns picked out of this boo so far to make quick! The cover quilt will go on one of our sofas for what we call a "nap quilt" and one other to go on the wall of my sewing room. I'm excited to begin (as I always am when I get a new Kim diehl book). The lady is by far my favorite designer of fabulous quilts.

I'm a huge fan of Kim Diehl's work and this book is no exception. I love everything in this book and can't wait to start working on some of the projects. Even though the fabrics from this book are no longer being produced I love that her current collection of fabrics will match perfectly. Her instructions are well written with diagrams and she gives excellent tips that are very helpful.

Disappointed with this book. Much of the same old quilting patterns. Would be a good for a traditional beginner quilter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not straight forward, left me guessing...
Reviewed in Australia on October 23, 2020
I did not like the instructions of these quilts, they left me guessing at what exactly I was cutting and piecing together. I finally just cut my own flying geese and started the quilt on my own. I looked at a few of the other quilt directions and unfortunately they are the same. I'm not happy with this purchase. I have bought other quilting books from Lynette Jensen, and her instructions were easy to follow, her images and directions on how to piece were good. This book is a major disappointment! :(

Beautiful designs and amazing choice of colours. Used a couple of the designs for cushion covers.
