Good story, poor book formatting

Good story, poor book formatting
While I enjoy the Hardy Boys stories and welcome the new unabridged versions, I'm not pleased at all with the formatting of them. The main thing is that they're set up like magazines rather than traditional paperback books. This means there are two columns of text per page, which is annoying to read. Also, there are numerous extra spaces between words throughout the books.I bought the first 3 of these releases, but I doubt I'll buy more of these editions.

There is politeness in every aspect of this familiar mystery. It was a pleasure to turn back the pages of history 90+ years and read of chums and roadsters and a dusty old mansion. If you have a fondness for days gone by and the innocent times that once were, you will love this clever story and book!

I am old and retired. I was reminiscing about my youth and remembered I had read almost all of the Hardy Boys and thought I would return to my childhood "friends". I read it in less than a day and really enjoyed it.

I read the Hardy Boys fifty some years ago and with "The Tower Treasure" audio book my grandsons are enjoying the stories as much as I did. They listen to audio books while settling down for sleep at night and this is the first time, according to their mother, that they listened to a cd and were so glued to the storyline that when the first one ended they put the second cd in. Their mother had to tell them it was time for sleep at the end of the second cd. Usually they have fallen asleep before the first cd is finished. They loved the characters and as I said were really hooked into the story.

Our kids love the Hardy Boy Mysteries. We read a couple chapters a night and they always go to sleep wanting to know what will happen next.

I enjoyed reading this book. I had read the Hardy Boys in 7th grade and I liked them. there is nothing objectionable in them. I liked that they are respectful with there parents and with other people. they have a good relationship with there friends. I am very grateful that there are books out there that are safe to read. I will be buying the complete sets of the Hardy Boys and Nancy drew mysteries.

This review is for the "Unabridged Publications" edition book. The original 1927 text is ***** five stars.

This is a Print-On-Demand book, poorly formatted. 214 original book pages are condensed to 52 magazine sized pages with double rows of page text. The font is rather small and in some cases the next chapter number is at the bottom of one column while the chapter name is at the top of the next column. With four blank pages in the back, the book could have been formatted a bit better.

The modern cover art could confuse readers, there is no explanation that the text takes place in 1927 with antique technology. The publisher also takes no credit on the title page or book cover, only in the false 2023 copyright notice (the book text is in the Public Domain).

The last page of the book indicates the day it was printed in Las Vegas, NV., the date is the very day I placed the order which was after the release date.

I definitely recommend the Hardy Boys novels. This is the original version, and has a 5th-6th grade reading level. The books are part of the AR Book program, so your kids can test on them. They present some challenging older words and ideas, which I enjoyed explaining to my son. The mysteries are appropriate for girls or boys, and are quite intriguing to the end. You will find no inappropriate words or innuendo, which is refreshing in this day of early lost innocence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, old fashioned young adults adventure

Took me back to the books I read 50 years ago, which were already old then. Quick read for an adult and a rollicking adventure for young adults, who will envy the freedom kids user to have 100 years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars ottimo per ragazzi
Reviewed in Italy on July 17, 2014

5.0 out of 5 stars Schöner, altmodischer Spass! :)
Reviewed in Germany on August 8, 2012
