It’s a fabulous start to the series, and I devoured it in one sitting.The tension and romance between Maverick and Hazel was so well done, along with the beauty and hardships of ranch life, and some light faith elements.     Hazel Noble has had a crush on Maverick Oakley since she was a child, but he has only ever seen her as his best friend's little sister. Last summer Hazel became the broodmare manager for the Oakley family at High Country Ranch, and they have grown closer since working with the horses. Only Maverick and Sterling made a pact never to show interest in each other's younger sisters. A misunderstanding at Sterling's wedding, however, leaves Maverick unable to talk to him about it and Sterling is demanding they stay away from each other.

    Waiting For The Rancher is the first book in the High Country Ranch series by Jody Hedlund. I've been looking forward to this new cowboy series, and Maverick and Hazel's story did not disappoint. I was hooked from page one. I'm excited to read more about this family.

    Enjoyed being with this author again. This story starts out with a bang. Two friends becoming enemies in one day. Maverick and Hazel story was a love at first sight. But because of his pact with her older brother Sterling and their recent falling out. Their love was tried he didn't want to lose his friendship with Sterling. So he tried to ignore her well she worked on his ranch. But that didn't go over well he still had feelings for her and she him. They even had one steamy moment at his ranch. But he wanted to make amends with Sterling before it grew any further. They did somewhat make amends but it was still strained. Tell Maverick got hurt then things changed for the better but almost got derailed by Maverick. But with Sterling help he almost proposed to Hazel but hard Tim doing so she took it in hand. Through it all her love for Maverick helped her fear of riding a horse. Maverick and Hazel were both healed from their pasts. Looking forward to the rest of the series. I hope Sterling finds someone who totally loves him also hope their sister Scarlet finds love too.

    If you like sickly sweet, short YA type romances with minimal plot then you’ll love this book. Some of this author’s books have depth and some of them should be marked on the cover as YA because the covers look the same. I was disappointed by this story.

    Well, they did wait but lots of lust was pervasive on most pages. Jody's books tell a good story of overcoming past secrets & feelings, but the lust is high & spiritual martters almost nonexistant. In this book, Maverick & Hazel overcome obstacles from their past to be together.

    I knew I HAD to get to know this family when I was briefly introduced to them in Claiming the Cowgirl (side note- DO NOT sleep on Claiming the Cowgirl! It is a chef’s kiss perfectly delicious sweet romance!). Specifically I had a hunch Maverick was going to be a character I love. So romantic. So endearing. So funny. I was not expecting how it started out at all and as nerve wracking as it was, I knew Jody wouldn’t let me down. And she didn’t! I have been waiting for the rancher for about 6 months and it was so worth the wait. If I could give it 500 stars I would. I had a feeling I would LOVE Waiting For the Rancher and I was right!
