I loved this book! Carolyn Cochran does an outstanding job of providing biblical history for each of the windows she has named. In each chapter Cochran has juxtaposed a modern day true story of women who have lost their husbands, young and old. What makes this book so current and real is that Cochran has woven the loss of her beloved husband throughout its pages, ending with the last story from her daughter, Nicole. This is a book about faith grief and healing. I highly recommend it. It is one I will share with friends.

“Widows in the Bible” is a well thought out examination of the lives, struggles and triumphs of widows in the Bible. Carolyn makes each of their stories applicable and personal to each of us allowing us to take the steps needed for healing. Putting one foot in front of the other is exhausting in grief and this writing helps us to make step by step efforts to move forward in a loving and supportive way. Excellent encouragement for widows or anyone struggling with depression or loss of hope. God bless you Carolyn and little Max!

This is just what is needed. Such powerful words here. Widows need to know that the Lord has not forgotten them!!

I was asked to review an advanced copy of “Widows in the Bible, How God Provides and Protects”.
What I knew was only the hardships of grief my friend Carolyn experienced. She was now travelling a new path, unexpected. Filled with highs and lows. Out of her grief was born a dream to share her newfound knowledge of widowhood. A club she never wished to gain entrance to and pay her dues.
What I read was an in-depth study of the widows Carolyn found in the Bible. Women we pass over because we hope we never experience the loss of our spouse. I found in my reading of the manuscript that it became a devotional time for me.
What I experienced was an opportunity to spend time in the Word reflecting on each widow. To contemplate her background, her circumstances and the outcome of her life story. I questioned my own heart as to what my level of trust would be if I were in her shoes. Where would I find God?
Carolyn has done a masterful job of digging into the details and presenting them in a way that we are drawn into the widow’s drama of need and how God fulfills each specific need in His own way and timing.
