Maid of Dishonor: A Cozy Mystery Wedding (The Wedding Bell Mysteries Book 4) Kindle Edition
Instead of walking down the aisle, the bride is suspected of murder….
Maddie Bell’s life and career have hit peak stride. She’s sold her cozy mystery series and is contracted for two more books; she’s engaged to Hemlock’s chief of police; and her mother has purchased and restored the beautiful historic mansion, Gracewood Hall, in their hometown of Hemlock, North Carolina. Three generations—Gigi, Maddie, and Jenna–are now happily engaged in the wedding and special event business.
But their highly scrutinized inaugural event—the wedding of an A-List social media influencer—becomes a murder scene before the rehearsal dinner. Kate Archer, the professional bridesmaid Jenna hired, is found bludgeoned by a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, not only threatening their new business, but also sending Jenna into a tailspin of guilt. She knew Kate from college and had begged her to fill in as the maid of honor.
Even as the police warn Maddie not to interfere with the investigation, mother and daughter set out to discover who killed Kate and dispel the growing rumors that Gracewood Hall is cursed.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024I love this whole series by Nancy Robards Thompson. She writes mystery as well as she writes romance. I really enjoyed this story - keeps you wondering 'who'. Jenna, Maddie, & now includes GiGi host a big wedding to a socialite when a murder halts it during the rehearsal dinner. The investigation causes problems between Maddie & Jack, Chief of police doing the investigation.
I highly recommend this story & the whole series if you haven't read them yet. I would give it more stars if I could. I sure hope this isn't the end of the series - there is room for more.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2025This was my first book in the Wedding Bell Mysteries series. I really liked the interaction between Gigi, Maddie, and Jennie. It was an interesting investigation.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2024Fantastic plot! Great writing! I recommend reading this story!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2024The mystery element was good. I loved the twists and turns. The Dual POV, well, honestly, I got confused all the time as to whose POV it was, but other than that, a good book! Jenna and Maddie do make a lovely mother daughter duo. You could even read this one as a standalone, as the mystery element stands alone and the rest is explained well. I read book 1 first and then this, weird maybe to skip books 2 and 3 but sometimes things like this just seem to happen to me, LOL. But that worked and this book was better than book 1, which was also god but maybe not quite as good as this one. Yes, there were a few minor inconsistencies, but they were so minor that they didn’t bother me much.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2024This was an adorable cozy with mystery, murder, and a fun cast full of characters. An amazing read. Look forward to reading more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2024Maid of Dishonor by Nancy Robards Thompson, isbook four in her The Wedding Bells Mysteries series. The book is set in Hemlock, NC. Gigi, the grandmother of Jenna, Maddie, the mother and Jenna, the daughter are now working together in the bridal business. Maddie owns wedding dress store and Jenna is a event planner. Plus, Gigi purchased and renovated Gracewood Hall to be an event venue, and currently London Brinks is the bridezilla du jour. London is a social media influencer adn can't get along with anyone. For example she fires members of the bridal party whenever it suits her. Her Maid of Honer is fired and Jenna, her wedding coordinator, suggests hiring a maid of honor since London has no one left to ask. Kate Ashton, an old friend of Jenna's, is a bridesmaid for hire. When Kate is found killed after an argument with London everyone is shocked. There goes London's posts featuring their businesses! Of course no one wants tne attention when a murder occurs.
Maddie's fiancé, Jack Bradley, chief of police, is investigating the case. The three generations feel the need to help with the investigation since Kate was a friend. . So many suspects! As a sidebar, Maddie worries about her own engagement, and Jenna's boyfriend is offered a new job on the West Coast. Plus we now have Gigi settling down in Hemlock.
This was an enjoyable read and good mystery. It keeps you guessing! I would recommend it to anyone (plus I am going to go back and read the previous books)

- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2024In the beginning, everything is picture perfect, except that the bride, London, is a classic Bridezilla. In the end, everything is perfect, including the happy bride, London. In between, all kinds of chaos and tragedy interrupts and Maddie, Jenna, and Gigi face danger as they attempt to solve a murder.
The first problem is that London needs to hire a maid of honor because her groom’s sister, Betsy, just walked out after one too many outrageous requests. Jenna does what a good wedding planner should by coming to the rescue with Kate, a bridesmaid for hire. (Aside: I didn’t realize this service is actually available although I’ve read several books with rent-a-bridesmaid characters.) In between the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner, London finds herself standing over Kate’s dead body with a smashed champagne bottle in hand, and the who-dun-it begins. All kinds of complications interfere with getting to the truth, including the fact that Maddie is engaged to the police chief, who tells her in no uncertain terms to stay out of this case. She ignores his warning. Jenna feels guilty because Kate was in the wedding at her request, so she tries to atone by helping her mother, Maddie, find the killer sooner rather than later. You have a PI, an ex-girlfriend, a former therapist, a fiance and a few other possible suspects to sort out. You have Maddie and her fiance at odds with each other over the case. Then, Jenna and her boyfriend add a complication to their relationship, and Jenna and her grandmother needing a place to live puts all three generations at Maddie’ house for the duration.
In short, I would classify Maid of Dishonor as a cozy mystery rom com. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and would definitely pick up another book by this author based on my reading experience. I received an advance view copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
