Are you looking for a break from the downer side of life? Me too! That’s why I write lighthearted cozy mysteries designed to lift your spirits while balancing the scales of justice, at least within the pages of my books. My stories always feature sharp-witted heroines who sometimes feel like they’re in over their heads (don’t we all?), a cast of quirky characters you’ll enjoy getting to know, and furry friends with surprising magical abilities. Magic always adds the perfect touch of excitement to a story. Don’t you agree?

Usually, you can find me locked away in my writing room, dreaming up new ways for my magical animals to solve crimes(or help to solve crimes, or try to help to solve crimes, you can never be sure with those critters). Or, you might find me out in the sunshine with my own special critter, pondering other important and not-so-important story points over a nice cup of tea.

Rebecca Cuthbert, now living in Citrus Grove, CA had received a message from her ex-fiancé that he was coming for a visit. She really didn’t want to see him as she now was dating Det. Nick Devon of the Citrus Grove PD. The town was preparing for their annual festival & she was helping her friend Luna finish painting the walls of her shop next door to her grandfather’s exotic antique shop. Luna was also finishing baking the last of the cupcakes she was making for the festival.

Rebecca began gathering the drop cloths & putting trash in a large trash bag to toss into their garbage bin. As she tossed the bag into the bin, Rebecca noticed a large lump nearby & thinking it was a bag of garbage, she walked closer only to discover it was a woman’s body. Luna had come outside & noticed Rebecca stooped over & walked over to see what was going on, then noticed the body as well. As Rebecca is calling 911, she doesn’t realize how complicated this new crime was to become for her, her grandfather, Stirling Cuthbert & her new talking feline friend, Aneksi. An exciting read!

After the unexpected death of her parents in a car accident, Rebecca Cuthbert learned she had a grandfather she never knew about. She moved from Montana to Citrus Grove to meet him, and decided to stay and help him with his antiquities shop. But since then, she's learned why her father left and never contacted him again: in a vault her grandfather, Stirling Cuthbert, has been keeping ancient Egyptian artifacts that his grandfather brought back to the states -- without knowing they were cursed. Unfortunately, someone stole some of them, and now both of them are trying to retrieve the items, one at a time.

What they did find among the missing items was a burial urn for a cat. When broken, the urn left them with an immortal kitten named Aneksi -- and they've been fond of her and love her, even knowing she can speak to them and has powers they may not know yet. Or ever.

But when Rebecca is taking trash to a dumpster one night, she sees someone on the shop's doorstep, and when she approaches finds the woman dead. Aneksi leads her to an artifact stolen from them -- the dark ankh -- and that will be the cause of all the trouble that lies ahead.

And no one can even decipher what lies ahead, including the appearance of Rebecca's ex-fiancé, Mason Moretti; the last person she ever wants to see again. He says he's bringing her a message, but she knows there's more.

Still, a murderer is out there, and could be anyone in town. Will Rebecca find the killer? Or will someone land in prison for a crime they didn't commit?

This is the third book in the series, and I have to say that I am hooked on this. This being a big deal because I don't normally read fantasy books. But I'm a sucker for Egyptian history and cats, so I should have known beforehand, ha!

I loved the storyline, and I am becoming fond of the characters as well. They are given more depth in each book, and who cannot like Aneksi? Rebecca is finding her way in her new town, and you can see that she and Stirling are growing closer to each other, which is a wonderful thing. Neither interferes with the other's life, but they cling to each other as only newfound family can.

Finding the killer is proving to be a bit more difficult though, as Rebecca thinks everyone could be the murderer. She uses her friend Luna as a sounding board, but she still has doubts and goes about trying to find the truth. Will it make her enemies? That I don't know, but I do know that when she ferrets out the killer, it's an interesting climax to the book. And speaking of teasers -- there's a whopper that makes me want to read the next in the series right away. Get cracking, Ms. Drake! We're waiting! Highly recommended.

I was given a copy of this book from the author and BookSprout but this in no way influenced my review.

DeAnna has the purrfect description for her series, calling it a cozy mystery. I’ve enjoyed reading about Rebecca as she starts her new adventure in an area I happen to know. I love Aneksi and her sassiness, but then I love cats, which is something that drew me to the series.
I found myself not wanting to put my iPad down, since I was reading it on my Kindle, so I see how the story ended.
I’m looking forward to book 4 and the continuing journey.

I just finished book 3 in the A Purrfect Relic Cozy mysteries series and I love how the author is dealing with all the problems that Rebecca has from her past one at a time. Now she is dealing with her exboyfriend in this book and it is taking her a little long to come to the concussion that what she had with her ex-fiance was not love she was just doing everything that he wanted no matter if it was what she wanted. But as usual there just happen to be a murder victim that she finds while she is helping her friend Luna get ready for her big opening of her new bakery. There are lots of twist and turns with lots of suspect to choose from. It takes her a little while before she figure it out but as usual she does solve the murder and she can know get on with her own life. Hope you will enjoy this mystery as much as I have.

    Furballs & Felonies…

Another Rebecca and her special cat, Aneksi cozy murder mystery. Lots of fun and magic, and a local festival going on… what can a little thing like a murder mean?

Add a cursed Egyptian charm that Aneksi tries to warn Rebecca about and a little romance, an ex-fiancee showing up and what a entertaining story.

I enjoyed reading this, and if you only have a short time to read, this is perfect.

Great for young and young at heart.

    A fun read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
