A generational secret could change everything...

In war-torn Russia, love and espionage collide with devastating consequences.

Marina, widowed by the ruthless Third Reich, channels her grief into the fight for freedom. As a sharpshooter for the Russian partisans, she sabotages Nazi supply lines, driven by vengeance and a fierce desire for justice. Her mission is clear—avenge her husband's death and help defeat the invaders.

Edward Neumann, an OSS Agent from America, is haunted by his past mistakes in Poland, where his decisions led to the death of his team. Seeking redemption, he throws himself into the heart of the conflict, determined to make amends by aiding the Allied efforts. His path unexpectedly intertwines with Marina's, challenging his mission and his heart.

As Marina and Edward become entwined in each other's lives, the stakes escalate. Edward faces a critical choice—follow his heart and protect Marina, potentially jeopardizing his mission, or pursue redemption for his past, at the risk of losing her forever. Marina, with her own deadly secret, must decide how much she trusts Edward, as their enemies close in.

Will their burgeoning love be their salvation or their undoing? Can they navigate the treacherous waters of war without losing everything they hold dear?

"A gripping tale of courage, love, and betrayal, Susan May Warren's novel masterfully blends the harrowing suspense of war with the tender hope of love. Set against the brutal backdrop of WWII, this story captures the essence of human resilience and the indomitable spirit of those who fight not just for survival, but for love."

A generational secret could change everything...

She came for answers... but found a mission she never expected.

Kat Moore, a determined American, arrives in Moscow only to find herself embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the KGB. With only a cryptic key and a longing to uncover her murky past, Kat's search for truth drives her deeper into the shadows of a city that holds the secrets of her heritage.

Vadeem Spasonov, a seasoned FSB agent, thrives on the thrill of the chase and the satisfaction of keeping his country safe from smugglers like the elusive Grazovich. When he encounters Kat, he initially suspects her of being a pawn in Grazovich's schemes. Vadeem's mission swiftly shifts from capturing a criminal to protecting the headstrong American who inadvertently makes herself a target.

Together, Kat and Vadeem navigate the treacherous waters of espionage and betrayal. As they edge closer to unraveling the mysteries of Kat's family, they realize that the stakes are higher than either of them could have imagined. If they fail, Kat might never learn the truth about her past, and Vadeem could lose his chance at capturing a notorious criminal-or worse, lose Kat to the dangerous game they're playing.

Each book in the Crimson series showcases plot and characters at their finest. These books are a slight departure from Warren’s books…is it Susan K Down’s touch? If so, it’s seamless. I sped through the reads. Loved them!

"Life and love are gifts. Some of us have them longer than others. We shouldn't waste them out of a fear to act."

The series gets better with each book. I'm amazed at the complexity of the overarching arc of the whole series. Some of my questions from previous two books have been answered here. I loved going back in time from book 1 to this book, experiencing post Cold War, Cold War, then WWII through the Neumann family. This book is my favorite so far in the series. It painted such a vivid picture of eastern front of WWII that I knew little about. Edward was such an interesting hero - a history professor turned OSS agent who leads with his heart and carries a boatload of regrets. Seeing Edward in this book helped me understand Edward in the previous two books. Marina was a true heroine - tenacious, fearless, and full of grit. She suffered so much trauma and carried terrible emotional wounds yet was able to overcome bitterness and fear to lean on her Maker. I loved the faith lessons sewn into the plot.

This story, more than the other two, had a lot of heartache and loss. I cried for Edward and Marina and their story made me re-read the ending of the first book Prodigal with a deeper understanding. If you are a fan of Susan May Warren and have not read this series, I highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy courtesy of SDG Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

In this book, the author goes back to 1941 to tell the story of Ekaterina's grandparents.

After the death of her husband at the hands of the German army, Marina Klassen joins a group of Russian partisans in the fight for freedom. Edward Neumann, an American OSS agent, is on a mission to sabotage the Nazis' plans. When their paths cross, Edward reluctantly admits he needs Marina's help.

Previously published as Marina and then A Greater Love in The Heirs Of Anton, Susan May Warren has republished this series with new covers as The Crimson Legacy. Book 3 is now The Partisan, the story of Marina and Edward. I saw Edward in a whole new light in this book. The end of their journey together (for now) was heartbreaking.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.

Marina is on the hunt to avenge her husband's death at the hands of the Third Reich. Becoming
a sniper for a partisan group has given her purpose, and grief fuels her as she takes out German supply lines and soldiers. When an American stranger joins their forces, she must continue to fight, even with her life and a deadly secret on the line.

Edward Neumann is an OSS agent struggling with the guilt of a mission gone south that ended in his team’s deaths. Back in Russia as an ally to the partisans, he immersed himself into the battle. But when he crosses paths with Marina, his life changes forever. Will he follow his heart to protect Marina, or focus on his mission and lose their blooming love? As their lives twine together, Edward and Marina must learn to trust God and each other, before the war tears them apart.

Set in the Second World War, The Partisan is a wonderful read for lovers of history, romance,
and mystery. As it takes you through the world of Edward and Marina, the third book in The Crimson Legacy series is sure to keep you guessing

I loved this book so much!
Susan May Warren lets us in to look at a less often mentioned area and time of World War II, and she does it so very well. There’s the dangers of the Nazi’s and the bravery of the Partisans that sets the ideal stage for us to better get to know Edward Neumann. We’ve seen him as an old man, a father and now in his prime and as the link that brings the previous two book’s mysteries to light. Marina is well written and pulls you in to feel along with her while she is put through many hard things. Her strength of character is inspiring.
I enjoyed the parts, woven in throughout , about trusting that God has a plan in spite of our seemingly bleak circumstances.

(I received a free ecopy of this book but the review is unbiased regardless of that fact)

I was super excited to read Marina and Edward’s story! We meet them both in the first two books and to have all the questions answered was fantastic. Their story was not what I expected and I loved every minute of it. If you have read the first two books you cannot miss this one!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Good! Gut-wrenching moments of the reality of war surrounded by the constant reminder of God’s saving grace. Edward and Marina’s story was an emotional roller coaster as they come together to fight against the Germans in this WW2 novel.

This WW2 plot set in Russia showed me a new side of the war I did not knew about. Add with that an American spy and a Russian widow turned sniper, there is suspense, anxiety, build up feelings and holding on to hope and faith for a better future.

I enjoyed going back in time with the characters we met in book one and colouring in the missing details to past events.
