Best Keto Diet book around!
Best Keto diet cookbook around; especially if you want to stay away from dairy! The author includes suggestions on substituting ingredients if you're trying to avoid certain foods. Don't be overwhelmed with all the content in this book; if you're going to make a dietary lifestyle change, you want to have a well researched book like this one! The author has done the research, and the diet; Thank you Leanne Vogel, and puts it together wonderfully! Haven't made a recipe yet, I didn't like (if there is a spice in the recipe you don't like, don't be afraid to substitute or just leave it out). I think what makes this book the best keto book, is the flexible eating plans (what works for me, might not work for you, and she acknowledges that). I found that I had extra leftovers, and could skip making a recipe, here and there, which saved me time (but I still made some of those suggested recipes later, because they looked so good).By the end of day 2, I noticed I didn't have the carb cravings, or any cravings (and I love my maple syrup & fruit!). I'm on day 9, and I have lost a few inches (everywhere; face, neck, waist thighs), and my nails won't stop growing (thanks collagen). About collagen; I would start slow if you've never had a collagen supplement before; maybe start with 1 teaspoon in your Rocket Latte first, then work your way up to the suggested serving (some people experience stomach upset, if they've never had it, and it would be a shame if that stopped you from trying the keto diet). Again; best keto diet/cookbook around!

What more can I really add to all the wonderful things that have already been written about this great book. I discovered Ketogenic Dieting in mid February of this year. I spent more than two weeks watching between 20 and 25 hours on youtube about this subject, and read many articles both pro, and con.

Why all the research? I'm 64 years old and was pretty terrified at the prospect of eating this way. I also don't have a gallbladder to assist in fat assimilation. With cancer, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes on both sides of my family, I really didn't want to make any mistakes.

In the 19 years I've been a member of Amazon, I've never once “Pre-ordered” anything, with the exception of this book. What sold me on this book was watching and listening to several dozen of Leanne's youtube video's and podcast postings. I found all of her information to be extremely well researched, and she consistently provided far more useful and important health information, of a higher value, than even most of the medical doctors who've posted on the same subjects. I decided to give it a shot, but still with some reluctance, as eating this way is totally counter intuitive to the way I've eaten for the last 40 years.

Leanne has a funny sense of humor in both her video's and in her writing style. She's as delightful to read as she is to watch. I have followed her instructions for the last 6 weeks or so, and have effortlessly lost over 30 pounds. I have felt fully supported by her advice, including her suggestion of taking Ox Bile and Essential Enzymes to help with fat digestion, for those of us without a gallbladder. I haven't felt this great in many years, and will continue to eat this way from now on.

If you're on a limited income as I am, and can only afford to purchase one or two books on this subject, drop this book in your cart. I have no doubt that you'll be very glad you did. Thank you, and thank you Leanne. This is truly a wonderful and life changing book.

Before I get going and because of a comment posted below, I need to say that I have no connection with the publisher of this book. I don't know Leanne, any of her friends or anyone connected with the publishing of this book, The book was not given to me so I'd give it a nice review. I purchased it.

In the comment section below, M.Kent suggested an update. When I went on this diet I was 6'4'' and was pushing 265 lbs. I wasn't hugely fat, just what people referred to as “really frigging large.” With the exception of my ex-mother-in-law who once told me, “Oh my God, you're enormous.” Sigh.

I'm still 6'4'' (of course) but I weigh 225 lbs. I went on this diet not just lose weight, but to avoid some of the above stated illnesses that my family has experienced, mostly from a lack of solid health and nutritional information. God bless the internet.

I will continue to eat this way because I feel and look healthier. I also noticed a reduction in the inflammation from the osteoarthritis in my spine. I don't eat sugar or sweets of any kind, and keep my carbs below 20 or 25 grams a day. I don't drive myself crazy anymore tracking macros or compulsively counting calories. Between protein and fat, getting enough fat was more of a challenge for me. I eat lots of Kerry Gold butter, Coconut oil, heavy cream, olive oil and lots of avocados. I occasionally use MCT oil.

I plan to take my weight down to about 210 lbs by June or July. I've also integrated intermittent fasting into the mix. I eat during a four hour “eating window.” and have started doing a 72 hour fast once every three months. Leanne addresses fasting in her book.

Being seriously committed to this type of eating, I've found it helpful to have a ketone blood tester to check on where I'm at, at different points. The breath and urine testers are a waste of money if you want accurate testing. The tester I found, and believe is the most accurate and least expensive is called Keto Mojo. It tests both ketones and glucose and if you purchase it from them, you're guaranteed to be able to purchase ketone test strips for only .99 cents, instead of the $2.00 to $7.00 each, as I've seen them listed for on the internet.

Here are some other things I've found useful, on what first seemed like an odd journey of eating fat to be healthy.

Nuton MCT Oil which is both C10 and C8. I also sometimes use a C8 MCT Oil which is 99.6% C8 and is a bit more expensive. Both available on Amazon

I've also found a short mimicking fasting diet, to be very helpful to getting fat adapted within a short period of time, without the hinderence of “keto flu.” One or two avocados and one or two greens drinks a day, launched my blood ketones from 0 to 4.2 mmol/L in only four days.

The only other book I purchased, and only for the very serious is, The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living by Stephen Phinney, MD, PhD and Jeff Volek, PhD, RD.

Everybody and every body is different and it takes a bit of experimentation to figure out what combination of these techniques (if any) are right for you. Take your time and have a good time with it. I hope this was helpful. I'm sorry it was so long.

It's so rare that 'how to' books or self help books actually deliver if they are sold as a 'guide to'. Usually its a bunch of rehashed info you can find by searching blog posts and health sites but Leanne has done her HOMEWORK and leaves no stone unturned. No stone but one, for me, I'd like to know when you do intermittent fasting in a chart. It wasn't clear on that one point. Otherwise, A+. Had me studying it and excited about Keto which I'd done on my own before by basically: bacon. But this is totally different and I just love it. As someone who eats a pretty steady mediterranean diet anyway but has an IPA habit I knew I had to kick to lose pandemic weight, this is my new BFF. I'm trying new foods I bought on Thrive and doing things differently. Pretty fun!

After I wrote this, I looked at the negative reviews (not many) and I found myself angry. It's like what the hell does a dedicated intelligent and thorough person have to do to please people? Those people literally were too lazy or too stupid to do what she was recommending so they bashed the book. Honestly. It is SO clearly laid out; it's GENIUS in its CLARITY.

People are mad that they have to learn about new foods and kick dairy. NOTHING she recommends is PROCESSED. NOTHING. hulled hemp seeds are not PROCESSED. that is just WRONG. It's misinformation and that review should be taken down. Maybe she should have said dairy-free on the cover but you can easily substitute dairy if you want ANYWHERE and she mentions that and mentions grass fed butter in a LOT of places. If you want simple keto recipes, try something called "GOOGLE" and maybe you should just do dirty keto and have that heart attack you seem to want because you're too lazy that you have to bash this woman who has given us a great service and done THOROUGH research and worked with a brilliant editor in making the book SO SO SO ACCESSIBLE. I lead marketing for a UX company for a living so I am highly sensitive to bad user experiences, any lack of clarity and overall bad customer journeys and this knocks it out of the park. I find this kareny hate really intolerable. Again, Leanne, thank you for actually doing something with EXCELLENCE - intelligence, knowledge, and a clear strategy for users who care to do the work. Guess you can lead an unhealthy impatient horse to water but...

Yes its a great book, very informative and pretty understandable. I am keto beginner, so the shopping part is a little difficult to search for all the items wanted, i am on week 2 and shopping for week 2 was very difficult i could not find turkey thighs anywhere in san antonio, i went to 3 or 4 shopping stores to look for them. so yeah finding everything on her list, you most likely wont go to just one store. so she gives you weekly plans on what to eat on what day, and what groceries you will need for that week. week 1 i spent $350 for the items for (2 people). week 2 i spent $250 for (2 people). the recipes are pretty difficult sometimes, and in her book she says she doesnt like being in the kitchen all day, but like the 1st 2 days of the week you will be in the kitchen for at least 8-10 hours really. and you also need some special equipment. and yeah thats why i took off one star.
Week 1 i am down 7lbs, week 1 my boyfriend lost 10lbs. i will try and do an update my weight on the weeks, and if i have enough confidence i might post before and after photos of the 1st month.

Excelente, es muy completo está en inglés pero con un nivel medio puedes entenderlo perfectamente, trae recetas y planes yo logré bajar 16 kg. Aunque es difícil controlar el impulso de comer más.

I love the detail of this book, it's amazing thorough, has so many wonderful recipes and is a Keto based diet that has variation!
I have struggled with Keto way of eating in the beginning, especially since it was male-based, dairy based and SUPER low carb, and on top of it, I was still breastfeeding which made it harder on my body when I was so low carb and not getting those small carb ups here and there to ensure adequate supply of my milk - and at the time there was NO support for a woman on Keto, or a woman on Keto who was breastfeeding, let alone a person with dairy allergies! So I quit, really disheartened, but found Leanne shortly after through a friend's recommendation and totally fell in love!!

A keto way of life, with dairy free recipes and a total overhaul of your health is what this book offers! I'm so happy to see this book supporting women on their Keto journey, but also encouraging you to enjoy simple meals and having so many options really helps with those intense sugar-cravings in the beginning!

I have made the Cinnamon Flax Muffins and it is 100% Child-Approved!! My 3 boys gobbled those up in a matter of days!
I also made the Vanilla Keto Icecream and again, my kids inhaled that so fast! My eldest is starting to learn how fat can help him feel full and help him grow more effeciently. As they grow older I'll continue to help them make the right choices for their health, especially to kick that sugar-habit that most (and especially my) children have!

I saw Leanna speak in Vancouver,BC while on her book tour, and I remember someone saying that the snacks, and the chocolate chips were rather expensive online. I have always made my own chocolate, since it's hard to find anything that's 100% dairy free for a reasonable price, there are many recipes out there for making your own "chocolate bark" which could easily be crushed into chunks (while frozen) and used in baking. I also find mixing coconut oil and homemade coconut butter a better option for most chocolate.

This entire diet can be done easily and effectively, and I am so excited for so many dairy free keto options that are full of fat and encourages me to listen to my body. If there is only one thing to take away from this book, it would be that this can change your life. It will open yourself up to honoring your body's needs and listening to yourself respectfully, without the shame or guilt or fear of failure. On top of everything, Leanne has an amazing narrative voice in her book that makes me laugh out at times!

About 6 years ago I managed to lose 5 stone by following a low calorie, low fat diet. More astoundingly, I have kept it off. However, there has always been another 7lbs that I would love to drop but no matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of it. It was suggested that my body is pretty good at maintaining and to get a different result I needed to do something completely different. This made sense so I started to look at keto but in all honesty, it scared me to death. I bought this book as it seemed pretty comprehensive. I read it over a week and decided that I just couldn't do it. I messed around for another week doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I then picked up the book again and decided that if I was going to do it, I needed to follow the plan to the letter. 12 weeks on and I am so pleased that I did. I lost the 7lbs easily. The most amazing outcome though is that people have commented on my "glow" and I know that my hair is thicker. I'm also full of energy and found it very easy to stick to over the Christmas period not putting on an ounce. I realise that this way of eating isn't for everyone. Certainly initially, it goes against everything that you think you know about nutrition, but if you really want to try, this book is amazing. There is an awful lot of detail but that is one of it's strengths. There isn't one query that I've had that I haven't been able to find in this book. There are plenty of recipes that on the whole are pretty tasty; there are a few that I couldn't take but I'd say every cookbook would be the same. It isn't easy but then you are trying to change the habits of a lifetime. Stick to the plan, do what the book tells you and you will start to get results, hopefully without the side effects that people often encounter.

The keto Diet ist das beste Buch, dass ich je zu diesem Thema gelesen habe. Leanne schafft es umfangreich Wissen zu diesem Thema zu vermitteln und zu zeigen, wie man sich selbst die ideale Keto-Diät zurechtrichtet, die am besten zum eigenen Körper passt. Ohne restriktive Vorgaben (Kohlenhydrate sind nicht immer schlecht) steht Gesundheit im Vordergund und man lernt, ein gesundes Essverhalten zu entwickeln, das man das ganze Leben beibehalten kann.

Sprache: Einfach verständlich, man benötigt keine außerordentlichen Englischkenntnisse.
Rezepte: Die Rezepte sind sehr lecker und nicht allzu aufwändig zu kochen. Mit sage und schreibe 5 Ernährungsplänen ist wirklich für jede etwas dabei.
Qualität: Ein hochwertiges Buch, liebevoll gestaltet, sehr umfangreich aber übersichtlich, wie ein Nachschlagewerk, in dem man schnell etwas nachblättern kann, wenn man bestimmte Informationen sucht.

Meine absolute Empfehlung an alle, die sich mit diesem Thema beschäftigen, egal ob Einsteiger oder Fortgeschrittene, hier lernt man noch was neues.
