Sachiaki Takamiya is a writer and the creator of Ikigai Diet and Ikigai Bio-Hacking. He has authored a range of books, with one of his better-known works being the spiritual adventure novel, Ten-jo-no-Symphony, published in Japanese by Kodansha in 2006. His contributions in English include The Ikigai Diet, Ikigai Bio-Hacking, and Natto Unleashed.

He embraces a sustainable lifestyle in a serene town in Shiga Prefecture, growing his own vegetables and crafting fermented foods. In 2018, he innovatively translated this lifestyle into a diet, thus birthing the Ikigai Diet. In 2022, he further enriched this diet, transforming it into a holistic health approach called Ikigai Bio-Hacking.

Homemade natto has been a staple of his diet for nearly a decade, holding a central role in the Ikigai Diet. Embracing this passion for natto, he donned the moniker ‘Natto King’ in 2022 and began disseminating natto-related insights via his YouTube channel, the Ikigai Diet.

His health-focused lifestyle has certainly paid dividends. Despite being in his early 60s, he consistently receives clean bills of health.

Thank you for this book. It really is a simple, straightforward approach to how to life a great life on this planet. I won't spoil anything for potential readers, but I do love snow shoveling. I always hated it as a child but learned to turn it into a meditative practice. Thank you for mentioning that! It's an overlooked part of life that people complain too much about. If you're interested in longevity and learning about how to maximize your diet, exercise etc...this book is for you. You've heard the term, 'Work smarter, not harder' ? Well, this book is all about helping you to work smarter in all aspects of your life, for the most benefit to you, those around you, your local environment and the world at large. It was a pleasure to read this book and I'm going to start reading it again!

I highly recommend Sachiaki Takamiya's book Ikigai Bio-Hacking, which covers topics that are all key to a fulfilling life, ranging from diet, to physical exercise, to meditation, to helping others, to developing one's soul, and living in harmony with the planet we call home. I particularly like the book's balanced and integrated approach to these various topics. Each of the chapters provides lots of practical advice and describes the common philosophical principles behind it. The book is inspired by natural health traditions from Japan, while also including lessons from modern science. It shows a path to longevity but one that is not driven by fear of death but that instead embraces life's continuous cycles of creation, maintenance, and re-generation. Another strong element of this book is that it is easy to read and follow. The writing is clear and succinct, examples are well chosen and based on the author's authentic personal experience, while summaries and cross-chapter references reinforce the practical tips and principles.

Author Sachiaki Takamiva's has traveled the world since he was 14. This book reflects his accumulated knowledge on how to live a long and satisfying life.

The concise information in The Ikigai Diet and this book Ikigai Bio-Hacking are the place to start. Takamiya's web sites appearing in Ikigai Bio-Hacking plus his YouTube presentations expand upon the concise outlines of how to live a satisfying life you won't regret. The author has lived in the Japanese towns within prefectures that have record numbers of centenarians.

Summarizing the two books taken as a whole present a satisfactory philosophical approach to life together with diet recommendations.

I recommend both of these quick reads as helpful guides to anyone on how to live even if you simply want to fine tune your life.

Not sure what I expected but I really enjoyed this book. I practice some of the
Ikigai bio-hacking already, although I didn’t know it. It really made a lot of sense and I felt other things in my life clicked into place when reading it.
Would be great if more people were aware of this way of being, am definitely going to practice this and encourage others to enjoy it too.

The author, Takamiya-san, is incredibly knowledgable about the lifestyles and diets of Japanese Centenarians, and this book is full of invaluable information for anyone wanting to live past 100 years old. If you are interested in the Japanese take on a "Bio-hacking" lifestyle, combined with the secret to what Japanese people do to OUTLIVE everyone on this planet, then I would highly recommend buying this book.
