“A la sombra de mi abuelo” is an historical novel in which the author reflects the impact that had in her life the death of her grandfather, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, dictator of the Dominican Republic from 1930 to 1961, as well or her parent´s divorce, the exile and other events of remarkable importance. Within the exile, and while she was still very young, she decided to marry a Spanish bullfighter. After her divorce, she discovered the world of Flamenco which became her great passion and that led her to become a dancer of that art. She had then the opportunity to meet many artists belonging or not to the Flamenco´s world. In the book fiction is mixed with a part of a reality that any historian could ever check since they occurred in the author´s home or in the most intimate depths of her inner life. Extrasensory entities come together with real-life characters. It´s interesting for readers to compare what they know about this Caribbean country´history with the auto biography novel written by Aida Trujillo, who is also the daughter of Ramfis, the first son of General Trujillo.
