Marked For Ruin: Stones & Curses Series Book 3 Kindle Edition
Hey… it’s Nora. Again. And this time, I’m in way over my head.
The jinn are being hunted right and left, and as their unwitting leader, that paints a sparkly neon target on my back.
Yay, me.
The druids are my biggest threat. They’re dark sorcerers who fuel their filthy magic by feasting on the souls of others like they’re at an all-you-can-eat buffet. As for me, well… I’m the main course.
But I’ve got news for them. This jinn is off the menu because I’m done running.
Rafe and I are finally on the same page, and although I want nothing more than to get lost in those depthless grey eyes, we’ve got work to do. He’s sacrificed so much to ensure my survival, but the other jinn doubt my ability to lead, and what’s worse, I’ve gone and allied myself with the fae.
The fae!
They’ve forced me to see the cost of the druids' magic—a plague of darkness spreading across the land. If left unchecked, it will consume everyone and everything in its path.
And the only one powerful enough to stand against them? The one with an actual chance at making them pay?
You guessed it. Me.
This is the third and final book in an all-new urban fantasy series: Stones & Curses. It’s got dragons, fae, vampires, jinn, shifters, and a whole lot more. If you love fierce heroines, heart-pumping adventure, a hint of swoony romance, and lots of mind-bending twists, then this is the series for you!

What I find really special about this author is that she makes interesting side characters. She has a talent for making small characters come to life and making the reader quickly come to care for them. I wouldn't mind seeing spin off stories about them (Jess, Selma, Accalia, Bobby, Ferris, etc. I'd even be interested in Seamus. And Nora's parents)
Not overly complicated story. It's on the lighter side. By "lighter" I mean there was no doubt in my mind about the happily ever after, even though there is some true evil afoot. And, despite her curse, things seem to go her way. (Example: the dragon could have easily interpreted her actions as threatening or trying to steal the egg. Instead the opposite happened.) In addition, the story doesn't romanticize or over-dramatize any cruelty or other negative bits.
Having finished the series, there are some details from earlier that still don't make sense to me. Particularly comments from people like Selma (and others) who express a feeling of debt or regret for not helping jinn ancestors. But that would have been before her time, so I don't know really understand...I feel like I'm missing something.
One thing that I found hard to believe, is if this curse is so cruel/miserable, why doesn't she consider killing herself? If she feels so much guilt over her victims, I felt it would be in her nature to struggle with that. Every time Rafe calls her selfish, I was expecting her to at least internally acknowledge how her survival comes at the price of many innocent lives. From her point of view, it's hard to imagine there's much incentive to stick it out since (to her knowledge) the only reward for sticking it out to the end is a gruesome death.
That being said, there was a lot. Information she couldn’t ever learn fast enough while also trying to teach the readers. While still being infuriatingly slow. Also besides the fighting this book is kid safe they never made love besides “kissing”.
Which was so disappointing for me but I’m sure others look for these types of books. That being said there was a lot of plot holes. Or things just overly complicated that could have been cut.
Such as, a demonic ape that devours magic. A whole pack of evil wolves up to know good who fae traffic other beings. And of course a bracelet cuff with dragons. I feel like as though this could have been wrapped up if it was cut down simplified and had these loose ends knotted. And that is mostly the continuous self doubt and just internal opinions that felt like ….glacier cabbage filler. If we removed her talking to herself in doubt or in general. Keeping details of the surroundings of the tale and her thoughts on Rafe. Could have fit everything together nicely and concluded this better.
Nora has to deal with everything in this one including her new found title. Annnnnd of course there are some objections to it but I love how they get dealt with later 😂. She also has more encounters with Claire and finds out some things about her parents that I didn't actually expect. It makes sense though looking back, because really she is able to do a lot more than the other with so little experience. There are also some people that come back in this one that were in the first book and I love the banter that happens because of it, especially with certain fae 😏. Nora acknowledges just how bizarre everything is and that she is doing way too good at everything but that doesn't stop her from taking charge and pulling everything off in a way that I didn't expect. Really thought there'd be more death but what she opts for instead is kinda fitting given what the enemy thrives on.
Now onto the others. I LOVE SELMA SOOO MUCH!!! Honestly, until I read Jessa's series, she's probably my favorite side character so far. There is tons of her and she has a bigger part in this and a bit of her history is revealed, really hope she's in the other series and that she gets expanded in in general!!
Rafe, rafe rafe rafe. He is more active in this and does not do anything sketchy this time 😂. Y'all will love him more in this after the rollercoaster Lissa took everyone on for him in the last two. He again lets her shine and acts all grumpy, especially around the wolves, but he's a loveable grump.
Every side character in this is great, even Justice, who I thought I'd always dislike. Bailey and Cora too are so adorable and I want more of them 😭. Fives across the board for this series overall and I can't wait for the next series to start!!
