From the Author

My name is Jorja DuPont Oliva, I will tell you a little about myself. I am a pretty simple person. I have no degrees in writing. I never went to some fancy big name college. I took a few years of classes at our local community college (It was not in writing). I am married to a wonderful man of 16 years and we share two unruly boys together. I grew up in a small town in Florida were I still reside. We have a home in the country and share it with many animals. I also am a small business owner of our local bar with my best friend of more than 20 years. I have listen and told stories behind the bar for 20 years now. My memory always stored them to someday write a book. I was never much of an English major (My worst subject in school) I was more of a mathematical person. My mother wrote a gossip column for our local paper the years of my childhood and I had cousins who were writers. Therefore, writing was in my genes you could say, but never anything written in stone. I wrote a lot for my own personal reasons (therapeutic reasons) it always seem to help me heal and figure out my emotions.
Organizing a thought process is very hard with my life style, because I am always on the go. I do a lot of my thought process while I wash dishes. I let the stories brew and simmer in my head. When everyone is in bed, and my house is quiet, I get a chance at the computer to puke it all out. (I was always a daydreamer and live in my head I call my happy place!)  I always have a notebook handy to write down ideas and subjects I would like to write about.  Life seems to steal my ideas from my brain if I do not write it down. Most of my stories I write on the computer. Long hand for my idea's, and sticky notes to remind me of a subject I would like to write about someday. By the way, I am probably the worst speller in the world! Spell check has problems with what I am trying to spell. I also type like seven words a minute, well maybe I am a little faster at it now that I write on a regular bases. (At the start of my writing, I typed slowly!)
What inspired me to write Chasing Butterflies in the Magical Garden was probably many things that I had experienced though out my life. The economy was affecting our town terribly. I saw where everyone was losing hope. (including myself) Business was barely making its own bills much less any to take home. My husband had to go out of town to find work. I wanted to give people hope again, but did not know how to go about it. So I decided I want to go back to school. I started with a class at our Adult Community Education (A class you were not graded on.) Michael Ray King's "How to write a book in thirty days" program. My mother always wanted to write a book so I talked her into taking the class with me. (I really did it at that time to spend time with her.) I absolutely loved writing and the class. I was writing a book! After the class was over my first draft was only a week or so from being finished. I kept writing until it was completed. I did it! I then took some extra classes in editing and rewriting through the same program. I was referred to a professional editor and then to a small local publishing company. Now I am published. I have three books now!
I have many other projects I am working on. I do not like to talk about those until I am finished with the first drafts.  I am very excited about all of my books because I let loose a little more with my imagination and less with my emotion. I also try different styles of writing and subjects. I love irony and things not known. Even as a child I always was fascinated with things and people that were different from myself.

Jorja DuPont Oliva is an award winning Author.

Author of the Chasing Butterflies Series. With a hint of Southern charm, she weaves stories of magic into everyday life. She loves the imaginative elements as well as her characters’ diversities in her stories. Jorja’s debut novel—Chasing Butterflies in the Magical Garden—was published in 2013. By many readers’ accounts, her stories are colorful, honest, and inspirational with a touch of innocence. Jorja’s second book in the series—Chasing Butterflies in the Mystical Forest—was released in October 2014. Readers then continued on their magical journey with Chasing Butterflies in the Unseen Universe (October 2015), but this time with a more mature and evolved Dee and Lizzy, the series’ enchanting main characters. Not only have her stories shown the growth of her characters, but also the growth of her writings.

Each story Jorja writes has a lesson to convey, as well. Her books employ symbolic meanings of nature’s beautiful works of art, and her unique prologues also feature a view through the eyes of creatures of air and earth as they look at human struggles. The chapters contain quotes from all areas of beliefs and teachings, from Biblical, spiritual, and inspirational to self-help.

Never underestimate Jorja and her writings; she is always ready to brave new creative excursions. Coming up in 2017, she will be releasing her first psychological thriller—SISTERLY. Beyond that, you can never tell what voyage she will take you on next.

Read the book in one setting. Chapters move along quickly. A few spelling fixes needed along with a couple grammatical polishing spots but the story is solid, entrancing. It is a story of friendship and family, and the ups and downs of Life. Mystical is not usually my bag but I enjoyed this tale, especially the part where everything has a meaning, which I believe to be generally true. As an author I believe it is good storytelling! I look forward to reading what she comes up with next!

Lovely lovely story and book. I got a hard cover copy of this and loved the cover and the butterfly theme as to me it meant transformation of some sort. Now to the BOOK. I really took my time reading it and enjoyed the process. It moves along at a steady to fast pace thought. NOW What i LOVED. Reading this author gave me a feeling of enchantment or the fairy tale energy. That was the pleasure of reading this style of writing and this book.

This is set in the future and the hope of where the characters are going. A sense of vision where this might take them. I felt engaged and almost reminding of a butterfly fluttering its WINGS to take me on the journey and maybe opening a doorway to a FILM. Something about how the author writes that gave me that feeling and sense and hope this could be a movie It is hard to capture fully what that means, butit is like reading a book and pre screenplay that could be set to be a working book that goes into film.

I felt this was a SOUL MATE Story and again this feeling of HOPE.
I did not read the previous books in this series, but I could figure out fast this FUTURE SETTING was for me like reading the book ending and it honestly 'touched' my heart and left with FEEL GOOD FEELINGS.

SO I am going to read mptr from this author and see how she grows her body of work.
LOVELY Story and filled with FUTURE HOPE. Roshandra warmly sharing

This book is an absolute delight~ The first two books, you go in the past then present, you get to know the characters and get attached to them quickly. The Author this time takes us to the future wrapping up and blending this story to a close, and you will breathe a smile.
Follow friends through life's ups and downs, love and faith, with just enough mysticism and magic to make this series of books ones you wont forget!
Great Job Jorja!
