First stories of the Black Panther
I got this as a Christmas gift last year. These stories are from the 1960s and 1970s so they are a little wordy if you're used to modern comics or manga.You can tell that Marvel didn't really have a plan when it came to T'Challa. He just shows up as a guest across different titles with each writer having a different tone for the character. You don't really get any consistency until the Panther's Rage story arc in the second half of the book.If you watched the two Black Panther movies you won't be spoiled because T'Challa's origin and Wakanda are different in these stories. Some of the characters from these stories were adapted for the movies like Man Ape a.k.a. M'Baku and Erik Killmomger.Overall a 4 out of 5

All the original Black Panther stories up until he got he own title. Including very first appearances. Fantastic stuff. All art is consistently spectacular. I can’t say I love Don mcgregors style, lots of wordy description makes for a very dense and consuming read. I really enjoyed the avengers issues. Strap in for “Panthers Rage.” A lengthy epic that got praise. Wasn’t my cup of coffee but I can see how others would love it. With this and the two epic collections you’ll have all the original panther stories. Overall recommend.

But in typical Marvel cheapskate fashion, they did not quality control the printing of the book. Marvel will cut corners where they can and it results in sloppy, hard to read words in the captions. They have no shame that they did this to such fantastic work, but that's the Marvel way.
