Having a significant family history of heart disease and strokes, this book's recipes make it easier to omit salt and oil from my diet, thereby hopefully preventing me having heart disease and strokes. I have been vegan for 2.5 years. Most of the cookbooks I have bought in the past use full fat swaps for the non-vegan ingredient, making the food just as unhealthy. This book give you healthy recipes, with whole-food swaps; not placing in a processed vegan version of an ingredient. Anyone who wants to move toward a more healthy lifestyle should purchase this book, and listen to Dr. Dulaney's Plant Based podcast. These women are a true force of positivity and joy, and are willing to help when needed".

About the Author

Jaimela Dulaney, MD is a cardiologist and primary care physician. She has been in practice for 23 years. She specialized in preventative medicine and lifestyle disease reversal. She hosts the Jami Dulaney MD Plant Based Wellness Podcast, and teaches three nutrition consults weekly.

Addie Dulaney Majnaric, RDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), currently working as the Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator for Jaimela J Dulaney, M.D., PA. She also conducts nutrition consultations locally in the Houston, TX area. She enjoys sharing content on a variety of wellness & plant based nutrition topics and recipes. Addie has education and experience in both the areas of exercise physiology as well as nutrition. Her specialty involves a lifestyle nutrition approach that implements the practice of whole food, plant based nutrition in coordination with fitness. She is a former collegiate athlete on the West Virginia University Women's Rowing Team and now avid runner, competing in races ranging from half marathons, marathons to 50k ultra trail races.

Alfreda Dulaney is the mother of the Doctor and the grandmother of the Dietitian. She epitomizes health and a positive outlook. At 86 years yound she continues to play golf, Zumba dance, practice yoga weekly and create wonderful plant based recipes.

This cookbook gets 5 stars from me because I own so many cookbooks and this is one of the few that seems like it was written by someone that cooks to eat instead of cooks to sell books. It has realistic recipes that I can see myself cooking in my household without having to prepare a gazillion things.

I love following Dr. Jami's podcasts and hearing of the wonderful foods that are shared every week at her cooking classes! Now I have the photos and recipes that she discusses. When I heard her describe her Grandma Addie's Salt-Risen Bread, I knew I had to invest in one more whole food, plant-based cookbook. The recipes are great, easy to follow and ingredients are those I have in the house--no special purchases for the most part.

This is a great addition to my plant strong cookbook collection. Its emphasis on simple and tasty execution of family favorites will ensure I use this resource again and again. My 88 year old Dad was so intrigued with the recipes that we’re making stuffed shells together in a few days. The white sauce is fantastic as a pizza base and stuffed in mushrooms. It has only 4 ingredients, one of which is black pepper; this is a great example of the simple brilliance this book will bring to my kitchen and our table.

I love this cookbook. A great combination of simple basics and more complex, but tasty recipes.

I will be referring to this cookbook frequently.
Our local plant-based group is planning a grocery store tour and tasting, we will be using at least one recipe from this cookbook!

Loved the banana bread recipe. The pizza crust recipe did not work out for me, however I did not have the exact ingredients on hand, so I will try it again using the actual ingredients called for.

This cookbook is terrific! It didn’t overwhelm me with too many, complicated recipes ! I love the pictures! And all the sauces are just what I was looking for to top off my veggies! Highly recommended! (Dr Dulaneys Podcast is the Best as well! Something new every week!)

Great resource for all whole food plant basers especially those following her wonderful weekly podcast and who also often wondered about those cookery classes! Loads of great recipes and ideas. My favourite so far is the fabulous key lime pie which I have tried with both lemon and lime with spectacular results. Very very much recommend you buy this book to help you on your journey towards wfpb wellness
