DO YOU PANIC WHEN ASKED ABOUT YOUR CATHOLIC FAITH?

Every baptized Christian is called to evangelize, yet many Catholics find personal evangelism intimidating. But it doesnít have to be! In Sharing Your Catholic Faith Story, Nancy Ward shows you that evangelization can be as simple as sharing how God has worked in your life.

As Nancy explains the importance of being able to bear witness to God's love by sharing your faith story, she shares her own story of lifelong conversion and shows you how to recognize the ways God has been drawing you closer to him throughout your life. You'll also get ten tips on how to share your story in a way that is natural, effective, and un-intimidating.

In the second part of the book, you'll read thirty personal faith stories by Catholics from all walks of life -- converts and reverts, clergy, religious, and layfolk who tell their own unique stories of how God has drawn them gradually closer into his loving embrace.

If you've ever wished you could be a more effective witness to God's truth and love, you should learn to share YOUR Catholic faith story.
You have a story only you can tell, and someone needs to hear it!

Nancy Ward's book is outstanding! She clearly outlines the steps for writing an inspirational faith witness. She also shares her own faith story as well as those of others, which provides great inspiration not only in my faith life, but also for my writing as a Catholic author. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to be able to put into words those special moments in their lives in order to share them effectively with others, or for those looking for inspirational stories. God bless Nancy for writing this book!

Sharing Your Catholic Faith Story is a great guide to 21st century evangelization. It is written in down-to-earth language, providing tips and tricks which any Catholic faithful can incorporate into his or her life. It also provides great examples of evangelization stories--from an atheist-turned-Catholic to a Mormon who converts to the Catholic faith. For those who are truly serious about their faith and sharing it, this is a wonderful resource.

Stop and think for a moment. There are a zillion more lay Catholics in the world than there are priests and religious. It is we lay people who hold the key to the evangelization of the world. This is one of the most overlooked exhortations of Vatican II.

Instead of rushing to fill “quasi liturgical roles,” we lay folk were challenged to evangelize the environments which are unique to us (and not readily accessible to our priests and religious) - our homes and extended family, our businesses and work environments (including our employees and co-workers) and the various athletic, charitable, entertainment, fraternal, political, professional and social organizations in which we participate.

We have the ability and obligation to draw others to Christ by the manner in which we live our lives. When people see Christ in us, they will want to have a relationship with Him as well – they will want what we have been blessed to receive. They will want to know how we came to have such faith. God will use us to lead them back to Church, to our priests and the Sacraments. He will use us as effective instruments for the salvation of souls.

All of this is implicit in Nancy Ward’s excellent book, Sharing Your Catholic Faith Story – Tools, Tips and Testimonies. She knows that individuals respond to authenticity and reminds us that when people ask us about our faith and hope and the source of our joy in life, we must be prepared to share our faith story with them. The best way to do that, she insists, is to maintain a Spiritual Journal, in which to recount our personal “Faith story” – “the significant events, circumstances or trials resolved with supernatural solutions”. Nancy shows us how to write our story in advance so we will be able to share it whenever an opportunity presents itself. She is quick to remind us that our words will touch other hearts only if they are consistent with the way we actually live our lives.

This is great book, a practical book, an essential book for all Catholics to read. Nancy included inspiring faith stories, authored by simple lay people who were atheists, cradle Catholics, reverts or converts. You will not be surprised to discover how significant the Eucharist was to her many contributors.

Do yourself a favor. Get a copy of Sharing Your Catholic Faith Story – Tools, Tips and Testimonies. Let the twenty personal testimonies in this book touch your heart and stir your soul. Start a Spiritual Journal. Begin writing you Faith story. Nancy gives you the tools and tips you will need to accomplish these tasks. You have much to share with the faith-starved souls who will cross your path. Remember to update your story from time to time, since our spiritual journey is never stagnant; it is ongoing and never-ending.

This gifted author, who was once quiet and reserved, has allowed the Holy Spirit to transform her into a powder keg of evangelizing zeal. She wants to share that fervor with you. Let her! There are countless souls who will owe you an eternal debt of gratitude.

Who should share their faith story? Everyone! It doesn’t matter if you are outgoing or shy. Ms. Ward encourages her readers by sharing her own initial reticence and explains how the Holy Spirit helped her to move past those feelings.

We all need to spread the good news. We live in a very hungry world. Sharing Your Faith Story makes it easy. In the first half of the book, Ms. Ward provides all the tips and tools you need to realize, and share, your own story.

The chapter on spiritual journaling is excellent. Journaling makes us more aware of, and remember, all the good things God does for us – so we can share them. Journaling also develops our communication with the Lord and soon an easy conversation flows. Sharing Your Faith Story gives steps for how to start, and maintain, a spiritual journal. Ms. Ward does an especially good job of addressing common barriers that may hold us back from starting a journal.

The chapter on Mary is very appealing. She is our role model and our spiritual mother. Sharing Your Catholic Faith Story gives good reasons to turn our eyes, and hearts, to Mary. She shows us how to gently lead others to her son.

In the second half of the book, Ms. Ward has compiled wonderful stories of faith journeys. Each story is as unique as the person writing it. I particularly enjoyed this section. Sometimes God draws us with an overt call, perhaps after a traumatic event. Sometimes it’s a subtle, unshakable nagging of the heart. For me this was like being at a retreat -- when you have a little extra time to hear each person’s journey. I found it stunning to read stories of how God draws each one of us to his heart with a tender, individualized love.

Suggestion: try reading a few of the stories before bed. I did and found that I slept better. I also found myself motivated to share my own faith story. No story is too big, too small, or too subtle.

Thank you Ms. Ward for convincing me that we all have a faith story to share. Thank you for giving me the reason, tools and desire to share my Catholic faith story.
