These vintage patterns from the past have been re-created and digitally formatted for today's crochet.

Granny square afghans and motifs are easy to crochet and can be taken with you as you travel. A granny square afghan is made by crocheting a bunch of squares and then putting them together either by crocheting or sewing the motifs.

The vintage granny square afghan patterns in this book have been revised using modern terms and materials. Create a beautiful afghan using scrap yarn or new yarn colors of your choice.

Create beautiful crochet afghan from patterns of the past. Get out your yarn and start crocheting the granny squares that have been around for hundreds of years into one-of-a-kind afghan patterns.

The patterns in this book have been inspired from vintage afghans of the past and have been revised using today’s terms and yarn.

The best type of yarn for Granny Square and Motif patterns is Red Heart Yarn (Super Saver works well). Crochet these patterns in the yarn you enjoy.

Just downloaded this book. Perused it quickly but I can tell you right now that as a freebie today you really should get it. Colorful pictures and motifs that I want to do. I like that the author has supplied everything you need. I can take my Kindle with me to the store instead of writing down a material's list. A very nice selection of afghan patterns.

If you were a beginner looking for something new to do with granny squares it is a great book. For someone who has been crocheting for a long time it was just ok for coming up with something new to do.

This is great for beginners who know the basic stitches and want to make successful projects. I think the explanations are well done and there's a nice variety of projects to keep you busy and build your crocheting confidence.

I downloaded what seemed to be a book of afghan motifs, and instead, received a pattern for a knitted shawl. Now what do I do.? I love the shawl, but want the afghan book. Help what did I do wrong?

I love the photos! I thought this might be only basic directions, but some of these afghans are just beautiful. I am eyeing my stash and thinking about my next project - granny squares are my favorite motif.

I am more familiar with English crochet terminology than American but can understand and use both. My big disappointment with this book was that there no obivious updating of terms. There is no glossery and hook sizes have been left in American only terminology, sometimes a letter sometimes a number with no metric equilvalent! Not good when the hook size is the only clue as to what thickness yarn to use, yarn is not sold as "sock and sweater" or "worsted" where I come from. Gauge is often refered to but seldom provided. Another source of frustration.
There are a couple of granny square patterns in this collection I am not familiar with so I will try them out with the yarn and hooks I have on hand.

I did the circle quilt from this pattern and loved it! You do need to reference her you tube for somethings which was silly bit it did help. Good for the crafter with you tube connections!

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy pattern library

This book contains colour photos of each project followed by a clear list of requirements for each pattern. There is a list of crochet abbreviations at the start but there are no instructions given for how to actually make the stitches. This means that this is not a book for a novice but is a very convenient way to take along a crochet pattern for a journey.
