Another big plus is the setting option is no longer a heat touch sensor. I never like them and always cut them off. This time it an actually button that make it so much easier to set thing up. It won't activate automatically just because your finger is near it like the heat sensor. I will always say this but back button should be industry standard by now. I would be willing to bet that everyone uses them in some form or another. Until that happen, I would gladly find a cheaper method of modding my controllers for the competition. Great price for what it does. Sure you have to sacrifice a controller but that just mean you are technically using official Sony parts and making it better.

Installation is easy. You get paper instructions, but they also offer videos on their YouTube channel with detailed instructions on each step of the process. All was smooth and easy.
The only issue that makes me say this product may be four stars instead of five is the buttons are a bit mushy after the mod. I’ve checked all the conductive pads and second checked my work, but it still feels like there’s a change in the feeling of the buttons. This has NOT affected function and is simply a tactile difference between the OE controller and the new shell. This could also be because of the buttons being changed, but they’re also ExtremeRate products, so I don’t suspect that it’s an issue with compatibility.
Overall, I’d recommend this product!

PROS: Fits great in medium sized hands and its great being able to map all the face buttons to keep a finger on L1&2, R1&2, 🔺, ⭕, 🟥, & ❌ at all times while aiming in an FPS or quest. Back button took over two years of wear before breaking. Replacing a broken back button is really simple with cheap tools.
CONS: The trigger stops don't really work and make L2&R2 get stuck for a moment before going back to normal but it's fine for me since I normally use L1&R1 for alt/primary fire so I didn't even bother with the stops. Ring and pinky finger fatigue from high resistance momentary switches during long sessions.
SUGGESTIONS: Having the back buttons use omron or rubber dome switches would be prefferable since the resistance of the momentary switches causes strain after a long sessions and they would be more reliable. Perhaps even a 4-paddle style system that uses hot swappable switches so people that accidentally press the buttons can swap to a switch with more resistance. Redesign the geometry features of the trigger stop so sticky triggers won't happen.
::Tangientally related rant that is completely unrelated to this product that advocates for DIY repairs::
If you want to keep the same controller working well for a long time it's a good idea to get into diy repairs. Minus the cost of a cheap soldering iron, solder sucker, wick, carbon filtered fan, tweezers, repair screw driver + bits, and a pack of analog stick wipers I've saved well over $380 in game repair shop services or $580 if I kept buying new controllers.
Learn how to take out and put in new analog stick wipers cause whoever makes the ones $ony and M$ use now dgaf and stopped caring about wiper robustness sometime around 2014-5. I've played Sony systems since PS1 and never had to deal with stick drift until around 2015 after replacing a launch contoller with a new one. Ever since then every controller got bad stick drift after around 6ish months. After a couple years of this I bit the bullet with equipment and started getting into diy repair. Turns out some friends and family have been running into the same issue. They buy the parts at cost and I've been hooking them up with this and battery replacements so we can all save some cash.

Recently i have seen this version and i had high expectations as it is a new design with the button mechanism. I had hoped this would solve my problem so that i don’t have to rebuy these kits. However, the only thing i ran into were problems.
First of all, the shell does not provide enough support for the controller pcb itself. This causes the joystick to stick at certain positions when moving. For example: When i move the joystick upwards, it stays there because the joystick is pushed against the shell cause of the lack of support for the pcb inside the shell.
Secondly, the back buttons don’t function properly when installing the k1, k2, k3 and k4 buttons. If you tight down the pcb of the remap kit too much. It causes the button k3 to be stuck. This only appears on one side. The other side seems fine. In the tutorial it is recommended to lose the screw if this occurs. However, i have to unscrew it so much that the button feels loose compared to the others which gives an unpleasant feeling.
Thirdly, after installing everything and not giving up despite the disturbing problems, not one button except the ps4 button works on my controller. When pressing the ps4 button which turns the controller, as usual the controller will be turned on and the led will turn on. However, nog a single other button works. Strangely enough remapping buttons does work. I am familiar with how to remap because the other version has the same system. I know this because when pressing the button to remap, it turns blue. And when i tried to remap the button X and k1, it double flashes the blue button. At least that worked.
But that was no use to me because my controller still did not work. I connected my controller to my pc with a usb cable and went to gamepad tester on google. And unfortunately it did not recognize the ps4 controller. I have another controller at home which i tested on gamepad tester with the same cable and that worked fine. But sadly the controller with the decade remap kit did not work. My guess is that the ribbon cable that connects the main pcb with the micro-usb pcb got defect somehow. I ordered a new ribbon cable and i hope that will solve that problem. If not, thats a total of €110 to waste.
The ps4 controller version i used was jdm-055. To install the kit i used the extreme rate youtube tutorial. I have not soldered anything because there was no need for that in what i was planning to remap. I followed the tutorial from beginning to end, and during the process of trying to solve the problems i have reinstalled components many times. I am sure that the problems that occurred in this process weren’t my fault because i have successfully installed the other extreme rate remap kit many times for myself and friends. So i am familiar with the ps4 controller and it components. But sadly this remap kit is not worth ANYTHING.
