Who God Is, and What He Requires: It's All About Obedience Kindle Edition
The book details God’s love for His chosen nation Israel, and His church. He loves both in the same way as demonstrated by His mercy and grace. But He is also righteous and just and requires total obedience to all of His commandments and statutes. Because man is created in the image of God, man is to emulate God’s attributes. “And now Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways ...and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes...” Deuteronomy 10:12-13 NKJV Fifteen hundred years after these verses were written, Paul confirmed that the church was to follow that same teaching. “Now all theses things happened to them (Israelites) as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 1 Corinthians 10:11 NKJV

The cover of this book really sets the stage, i.e. an image of the broken Ten Commandments and Christ
bearing His cross to pay the price.
The author sets forth in detail how God loves Israel and His church. Then it is described in what ways He shows His love for His chosen. God demonstrates His love by mercy, grace, long-suffering, favor, and faithfulness. Thus God is definitely the God of love; however, the final word in chapter 4 is 'but....'
The title of chapter 5 is 'God is also Holy, Righteous, Just, and Perfect'
The chapter following states that inasmuch as man is created in the image of God, it is commanded that man emulate God's attributes.
The subsequent chapter introduces the truth that man's predominant responsibility is obedience to all of God's commandments and statutes. Then the author details Israel's history of disobedience followed by detailed examples of obedience required of the church from the time of Christ.
The final chapter of the book illustrates the eternal consequences of the disobedience and the eternal reward for obedience.
The book is a wonderful Bible teaching tool. The book contains hundreds of Scripture passages which serve the basis for the narrative. It is one of the author's best.
The book is filled with scripture and it is easy to locate because of the italicized format.
The summary section at the end of each chapter is helpful.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read about Israel.
This book in particular, Who God is, And What He Requires, provides clear instruction using numerous bible verses from both Old and New Testaments on God's nature, how He dealt(deals) with Israel/the Church, and what He expects from Believers: Obedience.
When reading Walt's books, I have found it helpful to really take time to read and dwell on the scriptural references he provides for each point (and there are many). The scripture verses provide much more depth and clarity into the topic or point being discussed, especially when read in context. I highly recommend this book, and all of Walt Thrun's books, in order to more fully understand the overall arch of the Bible
