Bad Cat Chris: The Baddest Cat You'll Ever Love Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 41 ratings

When Chuck volunteered to help a local cat shelter clean cages one morning, the last thing he expected was a kitten climbing up his back to perch on his shoulders, but that was the beginning of a relationship that would test the limits of human endurance and compassion.

This is the story of Chris, a cat like no other who would turn the lives of Chuck and Rose upside-down while eventually showing them that bad can be good and love can come from the most unlikely places.

This book is based on Chris's blog at BadCatChris.com and is a collection of sometimes serious but mostly humorous stories about the ups and downs of living with a bad cat.

My cat, Rocket, must be Chris's doppelganger. He even looks like him! I laughed along during the entire book (a pretty quick read; I finished it while soaking in the bathtub) because every story was so familiar!

For what it's worth - a lot of the "bad" behaviors that Chris exhibits are actually a reflection of his intelligence. We have learned the hard way that cats like Chris/Rocket need a LOT of intellectual stimulation or else they find it by being naughty. I have had cats all my life and never had to install baby latches on the cabinets until Rocket came along! He thinks it's a fun game to steal things from the cabinets or sleep on the dishes -- and from the look of the book's cover, it looks like Chris agrees. We have had to introduce all kinds of puzzles and games during the day and ensure that he gets AT LEAST one hour of dedicated "toy time" (with lots of chasing) every evening for him to get his wiggles out. Even the refusal to use the litterbox or pooping outside the litterbox are both signs of intelligence (albeit bad behavior) and it's also a dominance play. Cats who are more submissive will bury their waste, dominate cats won't. They actually want you (even the people!) to see their waste and know that it's their territory -- and sometimes to reassert themselves, they will also go elsewhere in the house. Fun times! It's a tougher behavior issue to solve, especially if it's been going on a long time, but frequently a second or third litterbox will help (it's "expanding" their "territory").

As a joke, my husband and I started calling Rocket "BCC" for "Bad Cat Chris" and this morning at 4am when he was biting my nose, I scolded him not to be a BCC! :) This was a really fun book and I feel like the author and I could commiserate all day about our naughty babies, who we wouldn't trade for the world.

I really enjoyed this book. I too am a cat lover and have taken in many stray and abused cats over the years. I also became attached to many of them and I even have one almost like Chris, except he's gray. He also won't let me get a full night sleep. Usually around 1 to 2 in the morning he will start his meowing and won't stop either till I get up and go to the recliner where then he gets onto my lap, upside down and flipped onto his back, he usually will use his paw to move my hand of where he wants me to place it. Sometimes he wants me to rub his stomach and sometimes not. He can change his mind really fast and I feel the claws. Well this book reminded me a lot of my Jay Jay. I totally enjoyed this book. Gave me some reasons to smile knowing it's not only me with a cat with his own mind.

I enjoyed reading this book and also found out my cat is not the only one like that. My cat is also a yellow one so wonder if that has something to do with it. My cat adopted me. He came in the cat door one day and would not leave after being abandoned. So much of this story resembled my cat, I felt your pain and your love for your animals. Thanks for writing your story.

A collection of short tales about "Bad Cat Chris." The stories are more like conversations with the author or a collection of themed blog posts, but cute nonetheless.

I admit that I may be a little biased as we read Chis's blog on a regular basis and enjoy his ongoing antics. Any person who is owned by a cat will laugh along while reading this, even more funny as it is true, cat biography. Some of our cats pull some of these games but not as consistently or as often. Keep up your great cat works Chris you are putting your best paw furward for cat kind!

This book kept me laughing all the way through it with Chris' antics. For once, someone else got this kind of cat instead of me and that's why is was so funny reading about the author's adventures with such a lively cat. If you like cats, you'll love this book.

This book is very entertaining, especially for cat people. Even if you're not a cat person, it is still a great read! If you know cats, you will find a connection here as well as some new antics cats pull. Easy to read, a really great laugh! I will definitely be looking for more by this author and I will be following the blog!

Chris the bad cat, is an easy read for ALL ages. Chris is not all that bad, except for the pooping issue. Full credit to the author for his pooping patience, as most people (including me) probably would not tolerate that big a problem from a young healthy cat.

This is a book that caught my attention and held it. How do we deal with a bad cat? Chris was both bad and had an awesome personality. The shenanigans of Chris has to be read to be believed. A most endearing book.
