A Mermaid's Tale of Pearls is the unrequited love story between the sea and the moon as told by a mermaid to a little girl searching for pearls at the beach. Through this tale, the mermaid teaches a little girl about friendship, heart break, and being attentive to the feelings of others rather than solely your own.

This story is a great read for older picture book readers who can understand more complex stories and who love tales that blend mythology and morality. It holds a great lesson about human relationships and contains colorful illustrations to both balance out and compliment its serious yet magical themes.

About the Author

Jennifer Elizabeth (aka Sea Angel Jenn) has been a professional mermaid for over 10 years, but a mermaid in her heart since she was 5 years old. She performs and makes mermaid appearances around the Los Angeles area and in her hometown, Carmel, CA.
Jenn loves bringing mermaid magic wherever she goes. Writing has always been her secret passion and after writing this story over 20 years ago, is happy to bring it to life to share with all.
Using her mermaid talents scored a small role in an episode of Nickelodeon's 'Knight Squad' as a hologram mermaid fighting a wizard, and she was cast as the Mermaid in a short film (soon to be a feature) titled 'Mermaid'. She has appeared in industrial commercials and music videos with her numerous collections of tails. Jennifer continues to write in many avenues and has few more projects in motion.

I read books to my toddler every single day. Usually my mind kind of zones out as I read yet another farm animal book or something of the sort. As I began to read this book I instantly felt a depth that most of our kid book do not have. As I continued to read the book (while my son was enamored by the beautiful illustrations) I found myself choked up cause the story struck so true in my heart. 😭 I was NOT expecting to have such a strong connection with a story about pearls but lemme just tell you it’s a story about LIFE that is beautifully told. 🥰 Add this to your collection. You won’t be disappointed! I’ll be sending this as gifts for my new mommy and daddy friends!

As an adult, I’m still a fan of children’s books. This book has such a sweet story and the author also has a wonderful backstory she shares about why this story was written. The story touched my heart and it reminds us (or teaches us) that love will always bring gifts even if it doesn’t go our way or last forever. I’m also an avid fan of mermaids and the illustrations are wonderfully unique and perfect for the feel of the story. I will definitely be gifting this book to other children who love mermaids! I’m so glad after 20 years, this story gets to be shared with the world.

We love this book in our house! We bought it for our daughter and who is mermaid crazy and she has loved it. The story is great, the illustrations are beautiful and to top it off, it’s written by an actual real-life mermaid. That’s the part my daughter loves the most I think. I have shown my daughter photos of Sea Angel Jenn and one day she hopes to meet her! This is more than a book, it’s an experience as well!

This is an incredible book for children and adults that poetically tells deep life truths about love and forgiveness. The watercolor illustrations are so beautiful and creative!! Each page will take you on a journey. For mermaid lovers and dreamers alike, I couldn't more highly recommend this whimsical and powerful book!

My girls (4&7) instantly fell in love with this beautiful story and the stunning illustrations. The story is deep and profound, yet written simply enough to be understood by younger children. If you want a unique book for a mermaid lover, this is the one:)

I got this book for my 4 year old daughter and what a treat! Not only a wonderful story for her but for any age! A story about friendship, acceptance, being vulnerable, bravery and love. The artwork is in watercolor and just beautiful to look at. My daughter keeps having me read her the story so she can repeat it back. She says she wants to memorize it so she can read it to ME! My heart bursts. Can't recommend this book enough.
