Birds of a Feather (Feathers and Felonies Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 56 ratings

Sometimes when Willa touches people, she sees things. And sometimes, those things come true.

After losing her job and getting chased out of town, former teacher Willa Thompson changes her name and escapes to Tranquility Falls, Michigan, to clean out and sell her aunt’s book shop before figuring out what to do with the rest of her life. Unfortunately, when she finds a dead body by her back door, Willa realizes that things in Tranquility Falls aren’t exactly very tranquil.

Neither was her aunt. While emptying out the bookstore, Willa finds a black book filled with the townspeople’s secrets, a hidden passageway to her hunky neighbor’s shop, and a cranky cockatoo who attacks anyone unlucky enough to get within its reach. Because of all this, Willa can’t wait to get out of town, but before she hangs up the For Sale sign, she has to figure out who killed the person behind the shop and what they were looking for, or she'll end up stuck in Tranquility Falls, permanently.

Harper Crowley is a cozy mystery author who hails from the frigid tundra of northern Michigan. One time, she went to a pet psychic who told her her dog could see ghosts and she had one attached to her. She refused to pay the psychic an extra fifty bucks to get rid of the ghost, thus starting her obsession with the paranormal and shining the light on things that go bump in the night.

I enjoyed this book and looking forward to next book in series. This book started a little slow for me but picked up pace fast. The plot was interesting and fresh. I do not want to give the story line away, but I highly recommend this book. I think you will not be sorry in reading this book!

Its very hard to know just how much detail to leave when doing a review so I will just say tha I really liked this new series with Willa and I found it to be very intriguing.

This first book in this series was exciting getting to know new characters.the mystery and why things kept happening to the main character kept you guessing.wonder what book 2 will be involved in.

Great slow burn on the background story. I absolutely adored the slow reveal and who, of those who have had pets, hasn't had that one intollerable pet that they keep and let aggravate them saying that they do so because no one else would? It turns out (in our family) that cat is one we sit around the holiday table saying "Otis" would beat the crap out of.... and then howl it loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear. To my terror and delight I met him again in this book in parrot form.

I am a big fan of Harper Crowley. I read all of her previously published and I love her books. This is no different. I love the characters Marge cracked me up. The mystery kept me guessing throughout the book. I read This book in one sitting. It kept my attention from the first page. I can't wait to read the next book. The story is one you'll really want to read. So. I highly recommend this book.
I received this book free and this is an honest and voluntary review.

Ok, I am not a bird fan, but Marge is awesome! A true guard bird! It was driving me crazy to find out about Willa’s mysterious background, but it was finally revealed. It was a really great reveal too. There was a lot going on and all the mysteries weren’t solved by the end. Just makes for a great next book coming up!

Poor Willow. Had to come back to finalize her aunts estate. But unfortunately found a body behind her aunts bookstore. I really enjoyed reading this book trying to unravel the mysteries of the lies people keep telling her. With the strange ending and cliffhanger left, I really look forward to the next in the series.

This book was engaging and I kept reading to see what happens next. The problem is Willa (Shelby) was annoying. I have never liked people who lie and find it easier to pretend something isn't real. She spent so much time in denial and procrastinating that problems arose that could've been avoided. This book also ends with only half of situations solved. The murder was still unresolved. I'm curious about the resolution but not enough to read book 2.
