The concepts of sending balloons to Grandma which then travel to different countries add a beautiful layer of connection and adventure of the story. It captures the boy's longing for his grandma and his imaginative way of staying connectedacross distances. distances.

This bilingual book is an adventure in imagination, color, family relationships. I loved reading it. I like that it provides so many opportunities to explore different concepts: the calendar and passage of time, colors, places around the world, the depth of love between family members. The fact that it is written in English and Greek makes it extra special! This is a book that should be shared with every kid.

This is a beautiful bilingual story with lots of information great ideas that will help children find ways to keep contact with their loved once, be it grandparents, cousins or other relatives.
The illustrations are lovely, an interesting style and beautiful arts throughout the book.

I got a free digital copy from the author and unfortunately, it is of a quite poor quality. The resolution is poor and it is pity that I could not really enjoy the illustrations, they do look very nice. It looks like someone just took pictures of the book and uploaded them.
Another issue I found was the English text difficult to be read (I won't say anything about the Greek language here because I don't read it). I am totally fine with wordy stories, but I find that there should be at least 1.5 space between the lines in order to make them easy to be read.
And I also find this story more suitable for 6+ YO.

A sweet book, in English and Greek, about a boy trying to stay close to his grandparents who live far away in Greece. Charming illustrations complement the storytelling.

This is one of the best children’s stories that I have read in a while. It’s well written and conveys perfectly the bond between a child and a grandparent who live in different countries. It portrays well the story of the global citizen who straddles more than one culture, country and heritage. It brings back poignant memories of the strong bonds that my children shared with my parents, especially my mother. The latter shuttled between England, Nigeria, and the US, where we live, until she died unexpectedly in 2020. It was always so wonderful when we got to see her every few months. Every time they spoke, my children would ask her, “Grandma, when are you coming?” as does the child in this story. The book also aptly describes Dubai, which I visited in 2019. I love the whimsical illustrations! I have to admit the ending made me cry.

Kalliope’s book is a great tool for Greek/English learners. As a Greek learner myself, I appreciate having both languages present on each page so I can read and understand. Not only is this a great book for bilingual children, but for bilingual adults as well. A beautiful story and very well done!
