Hiroshima Twins: The True Story Of A Ground Zero Family Kindle Edition
When the atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima, the Nakamura family lived at ground zero. Miraculously, the entire family of ten survived. The father stopped at a friend’s house for tea before going to work. … That saved him. One daughter was late for work hanging laundry. … That saved her. One son was working in the hull of a ship. That saved him. … The story is often told by the twins and family members in their own words. And remember this … Even the most impossible parts of the story, really happened.

It is so hard to believe this story is true to live so many different ways that each member of the family was saved by fate. It is crazy reading how it seemed a divine hand was involved to make sure the entire family was spared any loss. A quick read but very powerful as well. I found this book on a book blog and read with my kindle Unlimited subscription.

Thank you Tenbosha Publishing for accepting my request to read and review Hiroshima Twins on NetGalley.
Stars: 2.5
Respectfully, this needed an edit. At best this reads like a middle grade to lower scoring high school paper. Some issues are due to translation. I accept those: I speak and read only English, I'm not arrogant. However, my peeve is NetGalley not requiring a standard edit: proper use of a word, spelling, and spacing, etc.
As far as the story goes, it is simple. It's childish, but not necessarily for children. The paragraphs are short and are made up of just a couple sentences. The twins are spoken about more in the second half of the book. The first half is minimally over their siblings.
The synopsis tells the purpose of the book.
I would read this with a child for teaching a point in history that is morally ambivalent.

Incredible first-hand account that I could not put down!

I opened this book expecting to read the first few pages, then return to it later. This I could not do.... because with such a unique story, how can you stop? A family who survives the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, all in different locations, returning to find each other, each having survived. It is an amazing story, a moment in time that is in so many senses, unbelievable. I only put the book down in that first sitting because I'd finished reading it. I would really recommend this story to anyone.

A tale of resilience, this is non-fiction. While so much has been written about WW2, most of it focuses on the Holocaust, which is horrible and must never be repeated - but neither should the dropping of atomic bombs on civilian cities.
A firsthand account of one family's extraordinary story of how they survived Hiroshima, in the typical Japanese manner told with very little drama, just memories and facts. It reads like a novel, and can be finished in a couple of hours.
There are some editing and formatting issues, but these do not detract from the book's message. I highly recommend it, and not just because I come from a country that was devastated by Japan in this same war.
