In this book, the author begins anew the foundational existential thought of the works of Kierkegaard and Camus. He argues that the old school existential three stages of assent from despair to meaning in life require dissolution of all three stages into nihilism as a morality based on action not on words for the individual trying simply to find meaning in the unavoidable incapacitating ruling class ideology — its ethics — of Technological Society. An opposition struggle to Technological Society so as to continue historical struggle cannot derive from ethics or even from socially acceptable morality but only from nihilism as a morality. Because God is the ultimate nihilist, this dissolution also acts as a theodicy.

All nine of Diviacchi's books on philosophy are outstanding. Individually and together, they offer a profound and coherent point of view that far surpasses the pinched range of acceptable opinion in extensity, insight, coherence, and value. This is perhaps his most important book because, in it, he starts laying the philosophical foundation for his compelling point of view. If more challenging than mainstream mush, it is also far more highly rewarding.

It’s a difficult book to read. But it is important to read. I consider myself educated in philosophy and many of the basic arguments that are out there.

I can understand what he is trying to argue, but it’s thick, like he is trying to stir cement that is already trying to harden.

In spite of that, the book is worth reading to parse his argument and I haven’t yet, worked that out. This will take several readings to do so.

If you have the time and patience to read and reread this, it’s worth getting. I’m not disappointed in buying the book and I look forward to understanding his argument, when I get there.

Author attempts to return existentialism to its roots after being hijacked by post-modern social justice theory and its delusions of grandeur. Honest analysis of morality and ethics both in its analytic trappings and in its post-modern delusions. Excellent guide for the individual seeking the nature of morality and ethics in modern Technological Society.

Erudite and incisive. Presupposes an 'emotivist' theory of ethics. A.J. Ayer
