The Keys to Prolific Creativity Kindle Edition
What if I told you that the main difference between you and Bach, or any master of the past, is how you approach your art, not some inborn genius you think you don’t possess?
Designed for all artists, writers, and musicians, The Keys to Prolific Creativity is a no-fluff guide to organizing your priorities, managing your growth, and designing a creative process that will help you achieve the creative output you have always desired.
Have you always wanted to write a book? Record an album? How about create a graphic novel? Lots of people have a burning passion for the art they want to create, and a great store of talent to achieve it, yet find themselves empty-handed after years of effort.
The truth is that technical knowledge of your field is only half the battle. The other half is knowing how to create consistently over the long-term – how to design your own work schedule and methods, and then learning how to align those with your goals to finish your project… and the next one!
David V. Stewart is an author, musician, and YouTuber, who has, in the last 4 years, written and published 11 fiction books (and designed the covers of all of them), one album, and hundreds of informative videos on writing, publishing, classical guitar, and film criticism. He did this while growing his family and working full time; in fact, almost everything was produced on one to two hours of work per day.
The Keys to Prolific Creativity represents the distillation of the 9 principles he used to design his creative process across multiple realms of practice to deliver his creative products to market in a timely manner while maintaining high standards.

About the author
David Van Dyke Stewart is a writer, musician, educator, youtuber, and father. A classical and flamenco guitarist trained by the legendary Juan Serrano, he spent the majority of his 20s as a performer in both California and Nevada. In 2013, after more than a decade of performing and teaching while dealing with progressive hearing loss, he returned to an earlier passion, which was writing. He is the author of a dozen books in the fantasy, science fiction, horror, and historical fiction genres.
In 2017, after receiving a bone-anchored hearing system that restored a large portion of his hearing, he returned to music production and released "Memories Adrift," an eclectic instrumental/ambient rock album under "David V. Stewart's Zul."
He lives in rural California with his family.

I am very averse to self help books as they tend to be pretentious and very hit-or-miss when it comes to effectiveness. The Keys to Prolific Creativity does not try to sell a "program" or any kind of "secret technique". Instead, Stewart outlines his "Keys", which are more like habits and mindsets, that are far more adaptable to each individual person and various life situations. Unlike many other "ways to be successful", these keys strike me as very applicable, attainable, and practical.
After reading this, I have rescheduled my life in order to implement the ideas in the book. When was the last time you read something that actually changed the way you live?
There are many people who make a living by selling books or courses on how to become successful at creating and/or marketing books or art, but most don't have the track record to back up their advice. David V. Stewart is an exception, as he has a proven track record of writing and selling books and music.
If you want solid advice on how to organize your life to maximize creativity from someone who has himself succeeded in doing so, I would recommend this book.
For instance, did you know that writing 1000 words a day yields you a full length novel 3 times a year? I didn't either. It's these little perspectives that make the book worthwhile.

The kind of advice I've found in this book is much more useful to me than anything I read when studying screenwriting. Most books about writing tell you about how to write (often from one perspective which may be heavily biased) but this book is much more practical and gives you an idea of how one might become a professional.
The most helpful part for me was the advice about treating yourself like a professional instead of an amateur.
I found the prose hard to read sometimes, a couple of sentences in the book required reading multiple times, but mostly it's really well written. I'd recommend it to any creative person who is struggling to be productive.
While I still haven't absorbed all the lessons of it, I appreciate it for giving a short and to the point way to help improve your productivity, which makes it easy to return to chapters if you feel a struggle in some area, or just listen to all again perhaps after taking a break or holiday to get back on track.
