In reading these stories I recall the words of Achaan Chah Subato - a Theravadan meditation master. "One day some people came to the master and asked 'How can you be happy in a world of such impermanence, where you cannot protect your loved ones from harm, illness, and death?' The master held up a glass and said 'Someone gave me this glass, and I really like this glass. It holds my water admirably and it glistens in the sunlight. I touch it and it rings! One day the wind may blow it off the shelf, or my elbow may knock it from the table. I know this glass is already broken, so I enjoy it incredibly.'" Each of the authors in this collection knows too well the experiences the soul can go through as it journeys from pain and sometimes self-blame, to truth and healing. People incorrectly assume that PTSD comes just from the lines of battle when more often it's found in the battleground that was supposed to be your safety. Each story will resonate, and some personally so. There was a spot in Kat Hel's remarkable story where I had to literally stop and let some memories go. That is the work of a skilled writer - and I'm grateful to each and every one of the superb talents that contributed to this collection.

Really a great series of short stories that not only entertain but educate. Well done and thank you.

It's not about what's wrong with you, it's about what has happened to you. Even strong people can be traumatized, and even if you're not the classic PTSD sufferer with triggers and flashbacks, the coping mechanisms you sometimes develop to deal with past trauma can hinder you're relationships for the rest of your life, or worse yet, set you up to repeat the cycle of trauma in your next relationship.

The first step in recovering is understanding that you're not weak, broken, or unusual. Plenty of other people have been where you are, and found hope and healing. Read their stories, and you may find inspiration for yourself.

I’m also a reader, and these stories… My heart! I had to read slowly. Putting the book down for a bit after every couple of stories to contemplate and recover. These people alongside whom I am published are SO talented and real!

This is not an easy read, not all of the stories have a happy ending, they all do end with hope.

As with the first book, you'll need to keep your tissues handy. Broken people working their way through depression and guilt, eventually reaching a point where they can just live -- you'll find yourself completely immersed in these stories of hope. Read both books, truly.
