Upheaval!: Why Catastrophic Earthquakes Will Soon Strike the United States Paperback – December 12, 2016

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 220 ratings

The United States of America will likely be devastated by earthquakes within the next twenty years.

That is the startling conclusion of the authors of this book, all of them leading experts in the geophysical effects of climate change. They make a strong case for a link between the sun's cycles of behavior with highly destructive earthquakes.

The authors explain that when the sun goes into a reduced energy phase, it produces colder weather and the worst earthquakes we've ever seen. Their easy-to-understand charts and graphs clearly show that we face an imminent threat.

Find out the status of the threat for California, Alaska, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and other states and regions--as well as when and where the next catastrophic quakes will most likely strike.

The authors also share the latest damage and loss-of-life assessments from the federal government, and they argue that we're not doing enough to confront the threat. The United States could face up to $600 billion in damages, and tens of thousands of people could die beginning in 2017, they warn.

Prepare yourself, your family, and your business for the most dangerous earthquakes you'll ever face with Upheaval!

Very, very interesting. I had a hard time putting it down. The book is well written and easy to read. The charts are great and there's enough color in the charts to make them easy to read and understand. This is a scientific pattern that has been discovered that blows away the greenhouse gas theory's which I've never believed. I also see two correlations to biblical scripture found in his book. Not that scripture is mentioned at all because it's not that type of book. But the fact that South Carolina is even mentioned is incredible to me because of the dreams and visions people have had throughout the country about South Carolina and Charleston in particular related to a tsunami and (by default) an earthquake hitting that area. The other interesting date was the 2031/2032 time frame which is fascinating because somewhere around this time would be 2000 years after Christ's death which to me is very significant. The year Christ was born is 1 AD and he was about 30/31ish when he died. Interesting hey? The book has great suggestions for people and the government as well to prepare. I loved how he separated the different areas of concern for our country and went into detail about each one. I've never read any of his other books, but I bet they were good. Might just have to get the prior ones, but this book has the most current information which I'm all about. Kind of pricey for a book I thought, but once I got it I understood why. The color images for one. It's also quite thick, but very manageable. Larger font size which was great. Overall, loved it. Forget global warming. Global cooling is the concern. The thing that wasn't mentioned was why do the earthquakes/volcanoes happen more as the sun output decreases and the earth cools as a result. Didn't dawn on me, but it must be because the earth contracts slightly and the plates then slip and slide under/over one another. Maybe I missed this point, but doesn't matter, the correlation between the sun and the earth was remarkable. Should be common knowledge, but it's not unfortunately.

They're coming- and at a more frequent pace. Catastrophic earthquakes are on the way. As someone who lived through the 1964 9.0 Alaskan Earthquake, I've always respected the fact that the next one is just around the corner. It's not a matter of if-- its a matter of when. Being from the biggest state, that gets stuck on the map tucked under Hawaii, I was impressed we got a whole chapter in this book. As well we should! Anyone on the fault line, especially my neighbors here, should take these warnings seriously. Packed with lots of easily understandable trend data, this book will make you a believer.

This was a competent book. It draws a picture of the likely scenarios after big earthquakes caused by global cooling and the current solar minimum. It would be easy to push this book off as “survivalist talk,” except that I listened to a YouTube interview with him, and he is a smart, realistic, tell-the-truth kind of guy with a lifetime of evidence in his career. Thank heavens I don’t live in one of the risky earthquake zones that he names. I strongly recommend this book. It could no doubt save many lives, if people would read it.

I've enjoyed watching John Casey interviewed on various YouTube channels and programs. This book provides in-depth information to support his thesis and predictions. If only a few of the events he's warning about come true over the next 25 years, we are indeed headed for some tough times. I had never heard of the New Madrid Seismic Zone before, nor of the earthquakes that occurred there in the early 19th century. So, lots to learn from in this book. Will the worst of these predictions come true? I hope not, but only time will tell. I can say however that I am more prepared as a result of his work. Thank you, John.

This calls to mind a Christian song: "I wish we'd all been ready". The evidence is in the history. Climate is a cycle based on the output of the sun. It does not go up forever until we all roast, like Al Gore was awarded to deceiving many to believe. Historical evidence proves a strong probability that a global disaster will occur at the bottom of our current solar minimum. It could be around 2031 if we are in a short minimum or it could be much later if we have a much longer ice age event. At a minimum you should be able to survive for a while with no electricity.

The book analyzes possible disasters in North America excluding volcanoes, It also discusses the consequences of more that one disaster occurring close together. The book talks about the different levels of prepping which is not very promising for my plans.

There is a variety of stuff on the internet about the grand solar minimum. Some of it posted by enthusiastic amateurs' which at worst, make the whole thing about global cooling seem like the unintelligent ranting by bare foot profits. This book was written by John L Casey and he is very credible. The book is easy to read and understand. Our elected representatives should be reading it.

Brilliantly analytical, captivatingly prophetic foretelling what nature has in store that will affect us all. This book has such gravity is will rock the planet, and rightfully so. It has come perhaps just in time to spawn an awakening which could save millions of lives. Past is prologue as Mr Casey shows from the geological archive. If you forget the past you are doomed to repeat it! The political establishment and governments foreign and abroad have kept you in the dark. This book brings a ray of enlightened hope.

This is a geological - geophysical based book. It is a little premature to be absolutely positive that the world is in the "Eddy" minimum because the sunspots have just cycled down. When we are certain the the solar hybernation is happening the US should take warning. There is good science behind this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling news about causation of climate and tectonic changes

Upheaval! Is a shocking and disturbing book. Its message is chilling - both literally and metaphorically. It's one of those books you'd like NOT to read and simply get on with your life. But I would urge you to take the plunge and read it whether you think you agree or disagree. Its that important.
The relatively recent research that correlates solar activity with earthquake and volcanic activity is remarkable and still in its infancy. It is set to dominate the discourse about plate tectonics for years to come. For if we can develop and refine these discoveries further, they hold out the prospect of being able to predict when and where such activity can be expected. All this is crucial if we are to plan and prepare for such disruptive and catastrophic future events.
Unsurprisingly, officialdom, still in denial that such things can be predicted with any accuracy, has shown little interest. But I think they need to catch on quickly.
Is it all true? Well we may not have long to find out. With the sun predicted to be moving towards a grand minima between now and mid 2030s, tectonic activity is set to increase! Yes, an inverse relationship. This means, according to these authors, we are now entering a period of maximum risk. The time to act on this knowledge is now!
John Casey, in particular needs praise for his courage and acuity in doing the research and then fearlessly speaking out in the teeth of total indifference ranging to outright opposition.
Read in conjunction with his other related work, Dark Winter, which details the sun's impact on earth's climate. Could it be that it has been the sun all along that has mainly driven earth's climate, and NOT human produced CO2? The latter so-called scientific consensus now seems to be rapidly crumbling in the face of other genuine scientific data, charges of the politicisation of science, and tampering with the real data. Both these books are essential reading whether you agree or disagree with their message. For they loudly proclaim "Welcome to a cooling world!" A time of crisis, hardship and catastrophe, for which we urgently need to prepare!
