If you check the lower starred reviews on this one, you will certainly notice that the wheels on this cart have been an issue for some owners, particularly around 2019 and 2020. I inquired with South Shore and they said that there would be a note in the box from their quality department or some such -- but no more information from the phone representative was forthcoming and there was nothing addressing the issue to be found in the box.

I don't know if the wheels remain the same or have been upgraded, but mine (purchased 2/2024) seem sufficiently sturdy. Nonetheless, I plan to get some narrow 6 inch tall softside boxes of the sort that are often stored under beds or on bookshelves, and I'm going to fill these with household linens and place them under the unit. (Clearance there is about 30" X 15" X 6".) Then, if the wheels do fail, the cart can - I hope - have a fairly soft landing. I could have just left the wheels off, but that just looks wrong without some kind of alternative "feet".

It's a very handsome, understated little bar unit. No cheesy fake gold or marble glitz. Yes, the wood finish (laminate I think) looks fake, close up. It should, however, be easy to keep clean, and I love that it holds a dozen bottles at the bottom, which also keeps the center of mass low and stable. The wine glass rails could be better IMO if there were 4 or 5 vs. a closely spaced 6 pairs, with a wider opening both for the stems and the bases. As it stands, your glasses will need to have stems less than 3/4" in diameter, and bases not much bigger than 3.25" across. If that is within tolerances for you, though, and the bowls of your glasses are under 4" or so, capacity will be 24 glasses, easy peasy; 30 if they are smaller dessert type glasses or narrow champagne flutes.

On clearance as of this writing. Discontinued? A steal at around 60, or about a third of current comparables.
