Have had it for four years in our vacation rental home - works only 50% of the time. Cannot control the heat from inside the house, only online, so you can imagine what a nightmare this can be in a cold climate - and for our renters.
Customer service cannot figure out why it works sometimes and not others, it's not an internet service problem - have been on the phone 4x year for hours at a time trying to figure out how to turn on/off my heat remotely. Huge regrets about setting this up, and at big expense.
Would switch in an instant to something else if I could get someone up there to do it - we are in a remote place with little services.

Sure it's a pain to run CAT5 in your walls to the thermostat and splice it in to their POE adaptor but once you take this step, you've made leaps and bounds into the future! It's hard to imagine what it was like to use a regular thermostat after you switch to Proliphix! Being able to access your thermostat from anywhere in the world is really the way it should be. We also found a great service called InThrMa that adds a whole bunch of great features to our Proliphix.
I have two of these in my vacation home: one to control the main furnace and one to control our gas fireplace. As this is a vacation home being able to monitor and control the heating system in snow country is crucial! Forgot to turn the thermostat down when leaving for a month? No problem - log in from anywhere via your internet browser and change the settings. Need to monitor the temp in the garage and under the house so pipes don't freeze? No problem - hook up the remote sensors, set alerts, and you are ready to go. As we are heading up there in a few days I just changed the schedule to warm the house up before our arrival. Having once shown up when the temp was 40 inside it took some time to warm up, so being able to set this remote and arrive to a warm house is wonderful! Not to mention it helps to control our heating costs by being able to fine tune our needs and only run our heater as needed.
Let your friends or family use your vacation home? Make sure they are not running a sauna while there. Or, have it warm on their arrival and turned off at departure - one less thing to worry about.
Wonderful device and definitely recommended for anyone who is frequently away from their home and needs to control their heating or cooling remotely.

I have the Proliphix thermostat for a few year. It used to work fine, with only periodically glitches. But now the company switched the internet access of the device to a new website, and it's a disaster! It's no longer working with mobil devices, or on some takes 1-2 min. to load your thermostat. At times it DOESN'T LOG YOU IN FROM ANY DEVICE! If you need reliability of reaching your thermostat remotely, this product is NOT it. It is not reliable. There are a few better ones on the market according to my HVAC guy.
