5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 4 ratings

Uncover the new life that is possible after loss. The day after publishing At the Edge of the Jordan, Leah Chrest lost her husband and had to rely on her deep faith and the truth found in her own writing to pull her through. In this work, she tells the story of her own recovery from grief following her husband Brett's passing. Over the course of the first year following his death, she discovers:

Yes, there is life after grief.

Yes, your loss can be a gift.

Yes, the best days, months, and years of your life can be right around the corner.

Yes, it’s okay to be okay. The void in your heart is a divine invitation to fill that emptiness with the love of God. Grief opens the door to finding your identity and fulfillment in who you were meant to be, a beloved child of God.

Along the way, discover how to
- Navigate the first days and weeks post-loss
- Heal from trauma
- Release the stream of "what-ifs"

Leah is no stranger to loss and pain, having lost her husband one day after the publishing of her first book, At the Edge of the Jordan. Finished this book quickly because I couldn’t my put it down. It was easy to connect with Leah’s journey, and I wanted to hear what happened next. Also, I enjoyed the reassuring writings that things really will be ok, even when grief can make it feel impossible. Leah talked of ways to invite our loved one who has passed into our lives and ways to gain new strength through prayer and introspection Grief being seen as a part of our personal development and a guide for our ever-evolving life helped me see what I could learn about myself better. The focus isn’t just on how to handle the loss or pain, but what are we doing with our path in life. How are we changing for the better to grow to be our best selves? Leah guides us to see look inward and to see that God is always there and has a plan for us. We are never alone.
I highly recommend this book. I think you will enjoy it, too.

“It’s Okay to Be Okay” by Leah Chrest provides a refreshing perspective on grief as denoted in the subtitle “Grief as a Pathway to Blessing and New Life”. The hole left by the death of a loved one provides the opportunity to fill that void with new life, a garden overflowing with blessings. The author encourages us to allow the seed that will flourish to be planted, and to open our hearts to the love that reigns – agape love. A message for each reader lies within whatever the need; accept the gift of peace and joy.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is grieving the loss of someone. Leah, a young mom, lost her husband a few years ago. She decided to pour herself into this beautiful book to help others. I love how she includes her two boys and the struggles they encountered and how as a family they worked through them. The book leaves you feeling inspired and hopeful about the future without your loved one. It is full of practical tips to help you navigate through the difficult days.
