Ruth Buchanan really nails dialogue...whether between her very realistic characters, or the internal musings of her heroine, Rachel. While Christian fiction isn't my favorite, the character's faith adds a welcome, refreshing dimension to the story.

You can really imagine yourself, though Ms. Buchanan's masterful (and subtle) use of exposition, sitting with Rachel, her sister and her friend at their favorite greasy spoon. You WANT to hang out with them, and be a part of their repartees because you're reminded of those times when you're surrounded by those who love you most, warts and all.

This is a smart, relatable and well-written novella, and I was very pleased by the ending. I hope Ruth gives us more stories about Rachel and her world!

This was the first time I read one of Ms. Buchanan's books, but it won't be the last. I enjoyed her wit and fun capers. There is a bit of a who-dunnit which leaves you guessing what will happen until the end. The classroom scenes made me laugh. A teacher myself, the student characters were spot-on. I will continue reading about the competent, charming, and chatty Rachel Cooper in this delightful trilogy.

Disclaimer: I know the author personally. Disclaimer aside, this novel was fun. There are plenty of laughs, many hijinxs, lots of trouble that the main character, Rachel, creates in her own head; and I can't wait for the sequel. There is a gentle religious bent. Rachel is a Christian and it's a part of her personality at all times. However, the book sin't preachy in any way. The occasional murders are only referenced, never seen on page, making it safe for the innocent.

The story moved quickly and chapter endings were perfect for wanting me to keep reading. Seems like a collapsed version of what could be a better developed plot and story line.

Buchanan spins a tale that kept me laughing, wondering, and wishing it wouldn’t end. Her heroine Rachel’s sense of humor had me in stitches, and her often self-imposed penchant for trouble made this character relatable and sympathetic. What’s not to love about a single gal in her thirties with a confused love life that involves a man ten years her junior, a stalker, and a potential serial killer? Collapsible was just the diverting read I needed. Clean, fun, and irresistible, this one gets five stars!

That sentence got me hooked on this story. Rachel is a special lady who definitely sees the world through her own uniquely-tinted spectacles. There is something about her that makes you want to keep reading. The main plot is fine, the subplots are rather intriguing. I thought I'd guessed the last chapter about halfway through but - that's Rachel for you - I was wrong.
I also liked the references to Romeo and Juliet, and to Mr. Rochester; they kept me wondering about what would come next.
Roll on the next two novels!

Delightfully down-to-earth characters and a proportionate blend of humor and suspense make for a refreshing read. Rather than a predictable romance, the story leaves room for several possibilities, ensuring the reader will make haste to begin the sequel!
