Great resource

I am a retired Internist who's favorite course in medical school was embryology. Thus, I've studied it as a "hobby" for over 45 years. Embryology and Neuroanatomy (my second favorite subject in med school) are very difficult to teach in a book form, as they are really three-dimensional subjects. None of the usual textbooks can really teach you everything, as you cannot see the "three dimensions" in a book.

Nonetheless, this book is one of my top five texts!

This is an extremely well organized book with many clear illustrations, chapter reviews, and clinical correlations.
Highly recommended.

I'm an associate Professor of clinical science and am developing a advanced course in embryology. This is one of the national Board of chiropractic examiners books and I must say it is incredibly frustrating to read. In fact, I confidently say that no student can just pick up this book, read it, and understand embryology. Larsen is not a good storyteller and goes all over the place.

The only way I was able to piece together the story of embryology is to buy five books and read them all. All authors contradict one another but you can get a pretty good story by reading them all.

If I had to pick just one embryology book out of all of them (Larsen, Langman, Carlson, Singh and Moore) I would have to go with Carlson, which is not a Board of chiropractic examiners book, unfortunately. This one is by far the most comprehensive, but it to, like all of them, are not well edited and just don't tell a good flowing story.

There's definitely a market for someone to write a good comprehensive embryology book that tells a good and understandable story, for none of the books do. This is probable way students struggle so much with the subject of embryology and just basically memorize things to get by rather than really understanding.
