So Not Meant To Be Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 34,322 ratings

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn, comes a fresh take on a romantic comedy classic, When Harry Met Sally. This steamy, laugh-out-loud, enemies to lovers romance is about an annoyingly handsome coworker and the woman who refuses to be charmed by him.

Am I friends with JP Cane?

Ha! That's laughable.

Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie
When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons . . . multiple times a day.

So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, twenty-four-seven. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

The man doesn't know what it means to wear a shirt, thrives off protein bars, and you guessed it, moans loud enough for people to believe he's Meg Ryan in a restaurant.

Spoiler Alert: I WON'T be having what he's having.

Tack on his continuous flirting and his polished good looks, and I'm caught staring down the barrel of a seductive temptation that makes it hard for me to sleep at night.

But guess who can control herself? This girl.

Because if there is one thing I know for certain, it's that JP Cane and I are so not meant to be.

A Funny Enemies-to-Lovers Romance
So Not Meant to Be is the second book in Meghan Quinn’s Billionaire series (the series isn’t currently titled but it does go with A Not So Meet Cute). Once again, I was laughing out loud through this entire book! Meghan is an absolute QUEEN when it comes to writing stories that are not only funny but have a lot of heart in them too. In this one, readers will get to know JP and Kelsey as they navigate their differences concerning mean and women being able to just be friends. It’s not an easy road for either of them and their banter with each other is laugh out loud funny, but it’s worth it to us readers who enjoy seeing a little vulnerability in characters.Overall, this is the perfect addition to the series and I’m looking forward to Breaker’s story at some point! I know it’ll be just as good as these two have been!If you enjoy witty banter, an enemies-to-lovers trope, and characters that warm your heart then I highly recommend reading SO NOT MEANT TO BE!𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗙𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗢𝗙:• enemies-to-lovers romances• Laugh Out Loud Romcoms• Billionaire Romances• Books in Kindle Unlimited𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Clever and cute. Romantic and fun read that will surely capture the hear of many readers. The point of views of each character make it enjoyable.

This was such a funny book. I couldn’t put it down. All you do is root for Kelsey and JP. I the only complaint was that Kelsey was annoying at times. It went a little overboard with her insecurities. But like any good romance it’s what you want. The spice was good it didn’t disappoint.

Good story, super funny. All in all just a really good rom com. It's probably a 4/5 on the spice scale in my opinion.

There I was reading in bed next to my husband, holding my mouth and nose, trying desperately not to laugh. That is how funny this story was to me. The romance was cute but was pretty predictable. The sex scenes were pretty good. Enemies to lovers. There were a few parts that just seemed weird and unnecessary. I would have liked her to have a different best friend other than her sister. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable sharing intimate things in such detail to a family members like Kelsey does.

Cute, quickish read. 3.5 stars.

One of my absolute favorite reads from last year was Meghan Quinn's A Not So Meet Cute. So, when the author announced that she had a book for JP Cane and Kelsey Gardner, aka siblings of Hux and Lottie, respectively, from the aforementioned 2021 fave, well, I was as giddy as one could be. So Not Meant to Be is an enemies-to-lovers romance, although I think it would be fare to say that the "enemies" part was more on Kelsey's end than JP's, even if the guy made pushing her buttons seem like he was born to do it. While JP and Kelsey's story can be read independently of Hux and Lottie's, I'm seriously recommending you check the latter out, which shouldn't be much of a surprise since I'd just been saying how much I loved that darn book.

JP Cane doesn't think that men and women can be friends and still work together. That shouldn't really be a problem since Kelsey Gardner doesn't think of him as a friend. She does, however, think JP's full of himself and too much of everything else. Too talkative, too handsome, and knows all too well how to get under her skin. To make matters worse, she know has to stay in the same penthouse as him for an extended period of time. So, not only do they work together, they now live together as well. Now, he's added being too flirty to the mix. While Kelsey may disagree about the whole being friends and working thing, she's positive that sleeping AND working together is a no-go. But that shouldn't be a problem since that'll never happen. Right?

Ooh, but how JP gave Hux a run for his money as my favorite Meghan Quinn male main character. The Cane brothers are certainly a cut above the rest! I absolutely adored JP. If you check "swoon-worthy" in the dictionary, I wouldn't be surprised if it had him there as an example. Now, when it comes to Kelsey, I confess that it took a while for me to not just warm up to her, but also to deem her worthy of my, erm, our Jonah. Their back and forth was entertaining, but then when it comes to banter, Quinn knows her stuff. I laughed out loud more than once, and there were times where my heart ached for JP. Yep, I know, I know, but what can I say? I'm a wee bit--WHOLLY--hungover on all things JP, which is why So Not Meant to Be receives five stars!

📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Opposites attract, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Kelsey promised herself one thing when she went into business with Cane Enterprises - she wouldn't let her attraction to JP Cane move forward, because it could ruin her business' success. But that promise has morphed into a hatred between the two, driven mostly by the intense attraction they feel. When a business meeting puts them out of town together for two weeks, they take the time to really figure out what's wrong, become friends, and so much more.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: So Not Meant to Be was a perfect Meghan Quinn book. It has everything you expect from a book from her... some angst, a great level of spice, relatable characters. It was peppered with mentions of her other books, which felt super cool. And you got more time with Lottie and Huxley from A Not So Meet Cute, which was a huge bonus.

Giving a book a four star review isn't in ANY way bad, but for some reason I feel incredibly guilty about it.
Bottom line is, there are some minor plot points missing in the story. And the beginning of this book dragged a bit. JP and Kelsey didn't even become friendly until like, 60% of the way in.

The meanness between them was really emotionally hard for me to read. It felt like in A Not So Meet Cute, Lottie and Huxley's enemies vibes were underscored by a internal monologue that made me understand where they were coming from. I didn't get that in this book, and it sucked some of the fun out of it in the beginning. But the second half more than made up for it, so that's why it's landing at a 4 for me.

But I do have to say, I did laugh AND cry while reading it. JP is absolutely hysterical. There are scenes that had me cracking up so hard I couldn't breathe. And then you have some major swoony moments too. It's definitely worth picking up, especially if you liked the first book.

So surprised by how much I loved this. I did enjoy A Not So Meet Cute, but this was rom com perfection. JP enjoys flirting with Kelsey but she is not interested - they’re colleagues and he’s her future brother in law. However, it becomes impossible to ignore their attraction.

This is the perfect mix of cute, funny and spicy. To be honest - JP and the pigeons equals comedy gold. I found Kelsey to be a such a likeable FMC and I really felt for her and her insecurities. Very much looking forward to the next in the series now. The little excerpts from Kelsey’s podcast interviewing couples from Meghan Quinn’s previous books is such a treat for longtime readers.

What to expect:

- lols
- enemies to lovers
- friends to lovers
- forced proximity
- he falls first
- very spicy

J'ai bien aimé être lecture mais malheureusement je n’ai pas autant rigolé que pour le premier tome de cette série. De plus je trouve le personnage de Kelsey très différent dans ce tome que dans le précédent.
