Low Tide Bikini (A Pleasure Island Romance Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 1,542 ratings

This beach romance has plenty of sizzle and giggle. It will make you laugh and sigh, with its zany characters, ostrich farm, talented musicians, snarky down-on-her-luck heroine, and hunky British hero. Sam Carlisle is the double bass player in the all girl jazz ensemble, Bikini Quartet. When she breaks down on the drawbridge, a muscle-man she later discovers is her new landlord comes to her rescue. Brock Knight is a retired rugby player from Wales. He's eager to get away from the paparazzi that hound him day and night. When he moves into his new beach house on Pleasure Island, North Carolina before Sam has a chance to relocate, he learns the proper way to shag.

I just wanted to let the author know that her debut novel is a HIT!!! I loved it! I happened on this free book by chance but after reading the short summary on what this book was about, I knew I had to read it so I got it. Sam (who is the female love interest) is all alone in the world - she was orphaned when she was a little kid and ended up in foster home after foster home. During this time she was traumatized by an incident that happened and it carried over to her adult life - hence the need for Xanax. Anyway, her upbringing pretty much shaped her as an adult and although she has friends, she knows that she has to fend for herself. Add in her previous love relationships that went awry which makes Sam wary of dating and men...especially gorgeous men!

Sam has been house-sitting for a couple in their beach house and has been told that she has six weeks to vacate the home. As she is dreading this new blip in her life, in walks Brock Knight who really becomes Sam's "Knight in shining armor". She fights her attraction to Brock because of her past disastrous relationships but the pull and attraction to Brock is too great. Add in the fact that Brock is gorgeous, considerate, gentlemenly, rich, funny, sensitive, sexy, loving & sweet. Oh...and he's a Brit and the man is a romantic who happens to love writing poems! OMG!!! I'll take him if Sam doesn't want him.

Anyway, Sam bungles her way towards her attraction to Brock but they do find their HEA despite minor misunderstandings and Sam's fierce need to be independent. There were moments of hilarity and moments of tears. Through all this, I felt that even though it was a love story about Sam & Brock, it was also a love story for Sam and the community she lives in. She has fierce and loyal friends - despite the fact that Sam had no family, the loyalty and love from her friends in her beach community were awesome. It just goes to show that family doesn't have to be blood-related - it's who will be there to love and support you. And that's what I took from this book. The crazy senior crew of busy-body nudists were hilarious..especially Myrtle, Louise and Carl. I would love to have them as my grandparents! As for Brock, he had to move to another country to finally find what he was looking for: Sam and love. Did I also mention the HOT SEX between Sam & Brock!!! This book had it all. Good job to Lyla Dune! Can't wait to read Mazy's story (March 18th, 2014).

I liked this book because of the really quirky but nice people. The island is small, and I have a feeling we will be getting to know everyone eventually. I like the way the main character works through her feelings and shows maturity. It is refreshing to read a story that is not overburdened with misunderstandings and conflict. Yes, there were some problems, enough to make an interesting story, but these people acted their age and dealt with them. They also were open to advice from their older friends. The sex scenes were explicit and instructive, but I mostly skimmed over them. They weren't offensive, but I wanted to get back to the story. All in all, a nice place and interesting group of people to spend a little time with.

I received this book for free on my Kindle.

Mrs. Dune. This may be your first book but I surely hope not your last.
I completely enjoyed this book. I refuse to give spoilers. I am a read it for yourself kidda girl.
This book is a little of everything. Sam is our leading lady. A little damaged (aren't we all). Brock is our Britt ( very Swoon worthy and mouth watering) the characters in this book are colorful and animated.
I love love love the fact that the characters are of all ages. I think older propel bring so much to our lives
in so many different ways. The funny is really funny. I found myself giggling through out the chapters as well as my heart swelling with each chapter. The Hot is very Hot and the Tender plucks at your heart. These characters bounce off the page and the story is Amazing. I can't wait till March for the next book. Bravo Mrs. Dune. Bravo!

A week after you've read this one, you probably won't be able to recall what it was about. Not that there's anything wrong with a book like this, just know going in that there's nothing very memorable about it.

On the plus side, it was a quick, easy read, and it wasn't loaded with the errors that so many Kindle books are, which was a relief. The storyline was light and fun, although the ending was predictable. Some of the writing was unintentionally funny. I especially liked this one: "He... desperately attempted to fight the urge to toss her onto the bed and ravenously feast upon her delectable buffet of womanly morsels..." Yum.

Sam, bass player for the Bikini Quartet is devastate when the owner of the beach front cottage on Pleasure Island calls to tell her she has sold the property. She loves this cottage and has house sat for five years She has no money, thanks to an ex who put her 50K in debt and no where to go. In walks the new owner, sexy ex rugby player Brock.Their meeting is the funniest I have ever read. Low Tide has an abundance of lovable characters, steamy love scenes and romance. Looking forward to reading the whole series.

This romance story has a good twits to it! Sam grew up in foster care and has a horrible past with men. She has not dated anyone in 5 years. Enter Brock, who is the hot rugby star from England who shows up at Sam's home to tell her that it's now his home. Sam tells Brock she is gay...there are a few funny scenes around this concept...as a defense mechanism for herself and him. Brock is running away from his fame and trying to reinvent himself. He basically swaps houses...gives his home to his brothers in-laws for this island home in NC. Let the games begin! This is a really fun read with some hilarious characters. You get a good feel for this island town. The romance between Sam and Brock is sweet. There is a bit of angst but overall it's a nice, entertaining romance.

Lyla dune, remember that name. What a lovely first book! I got really engrossed in this read. It's not smutty and it doesn't have long winded story lines that you get in some books. Highly recommend this book. A good beach read. Well done Lula and good luck to all the other good books you no doubt will publish.

If you want a decent romance with some humour, then this is for you. Definitely a light and fluffy sort of book. There's definitely some good chemistry and it holds your interest until the end!

O this was a lovely read. English rugby player (yum, my favourite) meets American, jazz bass player.
When Brock moves from Wales to America after retiring from rugby due to injury he meets Sam Carlisle who is living in his new home, where she was house sitting long term for the previous occupants.
Brock lets Sam stay in the house as he is there 6 weeks before she was due to leave, which works out well for her as she has no where else to go.
Sam and Brock get on well for the most part and end up becoming very close. Until Brock has to fly back to England and Sam never gets the note he leaves. When he returns things are strained until they realise the mistake.
Sam then gets offered the chance of a lifetime, to tour with a band, but it means she will be gone for a year at least. Brock refuses to be the one to tell her to stay and lets her believe that all is ok with her decision.
They need to find their way to each other and both be happy.
I loved the HEA in this book.

Sam Carlisle had been house sitting for five years enjoying the pleasures of a beach house until the day the owners sold their house to Brock Knight, an ex-rugby player looking to get away from publicity. He decided to take possession early with the intention of sharing the house with Sam, unaware Sam was a female.great freebie
