The magic and wonder of winter’s first snowfall is perfectly captured in Ezra Jack Keat’s Caldecott Medal-winning picture book. This celebrated classic has been shared by generations of readers and listeners, a must-have for every child’s bookshelf and a perfect gift for the holiday season.

New York Public Library's #1 book on the list of “Top Check Outs of All Time”

In 1962, a little boy named Peter put on his snowsuit and stepped out of his house and into the hearts of millions of readers. Universal in its appeal, this story beautifully depicts a child's wonder at a new world, and the hope of capturing and keeping that wonder forever. The quiet fun and sweetness of Peter’s small adventures in the deep, deep snow is perfect for reading together on a cozy winter day.

Ezra Jack Keats was also the creator of such classics as
Goggles, A Letter to Amy, Pet Show!, Peter’s Chair, and A Whistle for Willie.

(This book is also available in Spanish, as
Un dia de nieve.)

Praise for The Snowy Day:
“Keats made Peter’s world so inviting that it beckons us. Perhaps the busyness of daily life in the 21st century makes us appreciate Peter even more—a kid who has the luxury of a whole day to just
be outside, surrounded by snow that’s begging to be enjoyed.” —The Atlantic

“Ezra Jack Keats’s classic
The Snowy Day, winner of the 1963 Caldecott Medal, pays homage to the wonder and pure pleasure a child experiences when the world is blanketed in snow.”—Publisher’s Weekly

When I found out this postage stamp was actually a book, I had to purchase.
It's such a sweet story. I purchased this for my cousin for her little girl.
Everyone should read this adorable story of a little boy and his adventure during a snowy day.

I absolutely love gifting the book "The Snowy Day Board Book" for baby showers when I'm putting together a first library. It's such a heartwarming story that sparks the imagination and brings joy to both children and parents alike. It's definitely a must-have addition to any little one's book collection, and I'm always thrilled to see it make the cut.

This was my baby’s favorite book at 9 months. We had the paper version, and he ripped it to shreds, so I was excited to see this as a board book.

The book follows a little boy as he plays in and explores the snow mostly by himself. I add sound effects, which I think my son likes.

I love this book as it has so many messages, meanings and teaches so much! We buy this every year for our daycare book exchange. It is great because there is also a special on Amazon Prime that expands on the book story!

Beautiful short story. I wanted a book with a little black boy protagonist, that didn't problematize / fetishize / highlight blackness, as so many of the contemporary books do. I bought this intending for it to be that special book we read during the Christmas period, every year. But my son so loved the book, we were even reading it during the heatwave! Lovely, charming story - a little boy enjoying the snow, his mum and friend make brief appearancs. Lovely simple, sweet images. My son was about 18 months old when I first bought it and he loved it from the first reading. I bought the large board book version which is very nice quality and I imagine this is the type of book one hands down through the generations.
