Though her sisters are keen on finding men to marry, Elizabeth Bennet would rather wait for someone she loves - certainly not someone like Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, whom she finds to be smug and judgmental, in contrast to the charming George Wickham. But soon Elizabeth learns that her first impressions may not have been correct, and the quiet, genteel Mr. Darcy might be her true love after all.

About the Author

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 at Steventon near Basingstoke, the seventh child of the rector of the parish. She lived with her family at Steventon until they moved to Bath when her father retired in 1801. After his death in 1805, she moved around with her mother; in 1809, they settled in Chawton, near Alton, Hampshire. Here she remained, except for a few visits to London, until in May 1817 she moved to Winchester to be near her doctor. There she died on July 18, 1817.

As a girl Jane Austen wrote stories, including burlesques of popular romances. Her works were only published after much revision, four novels being published in her lifetime. These are Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1816). Two other novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, were published posthumously in 1818 with a biographical notice by her brother, Henry Austen, the first formal announcement of her authorship. Persuasion was written in a race against failing health in 1815-16. She also left two earlier compositions, a short epistolary novel, Lady Susan, and an unfinished novel, The Watsons. At the time of her death, she was working on a new novel, Sanditon, a fragmentary draft of which survives.

Beautiful Edition
The Puffin in Bloom collection is a series of coming of age stories designed by Anna Bond. The cover, title page, and inside cover is lovely. The book itself is not illustrated. The story is timeless. I’ve never read Austin before, but I understand why she’s timeless.

P&P is a classic! The story never gets old. The book itself is beautiful! The artwork is lovely, with attention to detail.

Can’t go wrong with this story, the kindle version was fantastic, no errors noted. I loved the language and challenge of truly understanding and entering in to the meaning and mood that our current American English doesn’t always allow. I love this story so much!

I really like this edition of the classic book, Pride and Prejudice. It's very pretty. I didn't quite realize that the overall size/scale of the book is somewhat smaller than traditional fancy prints of classics, so I would recommend paying attention to that if it matters to you. Also, I was under the impression (hah! you'll see the pun in a moment) that the cover was embossed, but it does not appear to be - the text and images are just printed on the surface of the cover, which makes me a bit worried that it will wear off if actually read very often. Something I will be keeping an eye on as I enjoy my book.

I gave this book as a gift and she loved it. The cover is so beautiful and just as colorful as showcased. The book is pretty thick and the words are spaced very nicely making it easy to read.

So beautiful (and arrived in good condition)! Smaller than I expected but that was actually nice as it's the exact same height as the other Puffin in Bloom books- Heidi, Anne of Green Gables, The Little Princess and Little Women. I wish they would do all of the Jane Austen books instead of just a few "popular" ones. My favorite JA books are almost never done pretty, and I hate not having a matching set.

I must have read this book at least a dozen times. The accuracy of the status of the character's is a truth. of the times. No rebelling against the order. Women who lost their way were lost to society forever. Their is no descriptions of relationships with servants or how they lived. Jane Austen wrote about the struggles to remain in the society they were born, However, when I find the World to be a hard place, I enjoy the world and society she portrays.

This is one of nicest copies of pride and prejudice I have seen. It is a thick book and the text inside is spaced well and easy to read (unlike a lot of traditional copied). Shorter book than normal but has a lovely feel to it and as said the text is in an easy to read style.
