🪕The Taste of Light 🏰The Winemakers Book 2✒️Giovanna Siniscalchi🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Will proving his innocence be enough to free him from his past …I remember having seen the first book in this series advertised but an overwhelming reading schedule did not allow me to give it a try.When the second book appeared as an arc opportunity, I turned around this book but was still reluctant, December is busy month, adding more books to my list is the best way to drive to me to madness.It was only thanks to a fellow review that I finally decided to give it a go.And I can only thanks Gloria for her wonderful insight, else I would have missed a wonderful tale of redemption and love.First I believe outside some mentions of battles during the Napoleonic wars, I have never read a book set in the area.So just from the journey, I want to thank the author, I would have like a map to be included to understand and imagine the places the heroes visited.But this story is more than an unexpected trip, this is a rollercoaster ride, a mad dash along the country to escape authorities and betrayal and find proofs of Dom Pedro’s innocence all the while he slowly let his walls crumble to admit Anne in his heart.As Anne’s task is the most arduous, win Pedro’s trust to let him open his soul to her, she, an innocent bystander caught in a web of deceit he did not expect.Having not read the previous book, I had no prejudices about Pedro, outside knowing he was not the hero of the day in this story.But now is his time to shine. Yet his dark aura, violent past and guilt are dragging him down, more or less leading him to his downfall.Still mourning the woman he believed to be his salvation, he drowns his sorrows in alcohol and anger.Until an angel, a jewel of a young woman lands on his lap at the worst moment possible. Leaving him with no other option than to sweep her in his arms to avoid being hurt with him.Anne has no idea who was Pedro until later in their escape, but she quickly sees the broken man, her good heart hoping to heal him. In her nativity, she believes all men to be good, only corrupted by life. Yet it is said candor that attracts Pedro, she is like a beacon in the night. Soon she becomes the air to breathe.But can she accept him as he is, damaged, broken to hundred of pieces, with scars running deeper than mere flesh wounds, a guilt that haunt him.
