This book is the best parenting tool!

This book is the best parenting tool!
I started reading this with my three year old that has lots of big feelings about starting Montessori school. The first story we read is about a courageous caterpillar. She could choose to stay the same, or bravely step out of her comfort zone and become a butterfly. My three year old was able to relate this to starting school and the new fun things she can experience! What a well written, amazing tool for any parent or teacher. I think each classroom needs this book so pause and address social emotional needs that arise. Could not recommend this more. -Gentle parent and former early childhood educator

These stories are so relatable and very easy to understand for children. I love that after each story there are lessons to go over with how to help specific issues. Each metaphor is explained as well.

This book is a true masterpiece. Not only does it offer 25 captivating tales designed to empower young minds, but it also goes above and beyond by providing activities to reinforce the lessons revealed in each story. Essentially, it's a complete toolkit for parents to keep the learning party going long after the book is closed.

The book is decent. There is a lot of fluff in the book. Plus, the title needs work. There are a bunch more more riveting titles than the one he chose.

As I read through 'The Magic In Metaphor: Empowering Children Through Healing Stories,' I thought about a few years back when I worked as a PARA and substitute taught kindergarten. Early each year, many kids cry for their mothers when they arrive at class. Some have to be sent home because they won't calm down. Teachers read stories to try to help their kids feel comfortable. Harley Sears's stories would be useful to teach children values such as courage and empathy.

The only issue I have with the book is a slight one. It is that Harley Sears, [being from Minnesota], wrote a story where a kid with an open window has a snowflake land on his cheek. What?! I can deal with animals experiencing human emotions, but we don't leave our windows open in the wintertime in Minnesota!! Joking :).

This book is well-formatted, with valuable lessons after every story. The illustrations to begin each chapter add a special touch to bring the story to life.

'The Magic In Metaphor: Empowering Children Through Healing Stories' would be best to read numerous times to ensure a child becomes familiar with the concepts. The reader can answer a different question [presented at the end of each chapter] to really build on what Sears is talking about.

Five wholehearted stars! I thoroughly recommend it to parents, grandparents, teachers, and counselors.
