Guide for Grief Kindle Edition
Everyone dies. Every family grieves. People are terrified of admitting that we are aging, let alone dying. Many families get stuck in patterns of grief and suffer as friends move on with life. In his new Guide for Grief, the Rev. Rodger Murchison brings years of pastoral experience and study, sharing recommendations from both scripture and the latest research into loss and bereavement. This guide's perspective is Christian, but all families will benefit from these well-tested principles. Each chapter ends with an inspiring prayer that readers can use in the journey we all will take through grief to wholeness.

Dr. Murchison provides an insightful and informative guide for the grieving and those who care for the grieving based on several decades of pastoral work. This is not a simplistic "how to" manual, although it is accessible and readable therefore making it suitable for a broad and diverse audience. Rather it is a shared journey as if the reader were sitting in the comforting study of this spiritual counselor. Each chapter begins with a relevant question and then unfolds an informative process towards the chapter's concluding prayer. Some of the questions asked are the "big ones" such as "What Happens When We Die? Why Did My Loved One Die? and Did God Take My Loved One?" Others questions are more pragmatic: "Are There Healthy and Unhealthy Ways to Grieve? and How Do We Deal with Loneliness?" Dr. Murchison attempts to answer these and other questions with a sense of guided openness. While he is quick to source tried and true authorities such as C. S. Lewis and Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, this book is not an academic text and the reader need not feel burdened with information and data. It is, as the title implies, a guide. In addition to the superbly written text, the artwork enhances the content. I recommend spending the few extra dollars for the color addition. I recommend this book for those grieving as well as those whose work involves caring for the grieving and their families.

I recently gave copies of Dr. Rodger Murchison's book, "Guide for Grief" to my two sons and my sister because it is a valuable book for current reading and to have on the bookshelf for future reference. Grief is a subject that we all try to avoid, but it is a natural issue of life. Rodger Murchison has served our church well for 25 years and has vast experience in conducting funerals and grief workshops. His sensitivity for the feelings of people is demonstrated in this book as he deals with the natural questions that people ask when they have lost a loved one. Sooner or later grief will be an issue for all of us so I believe that reading Rodger Murchison's book can help anyone get through the grieving process with better understanding and acceptance.

Gratitude is the word I use for Rodger Murchison writing this book. I faced death myself having survived a critical car accident nine years ago.I understand the fears and questions that people have concerning death.I personally lost someone I love when that person died two years ago. I understand the grief that is involved when you lose someone to death. My perspective is large. Rodger Murchison is open to discussion of the whole picture of grief. The book is a useful guide as a person looks at the whole picture of grief. The artwork that goes with each chapter adds visual insight and clarity to the thoughts presented in the book. I have gratitude for the honest thoughts concerning death that I took from this book. I have gratitude for permission given to me from the text to have my own honest thoughts concerning death.
Thank you Rodger Murchison.

I find that 'Guide For Grief' is practical and inspirational. Dr. Murchison writes from years of experience as a pastor and counselor, as well his own academic research into grief.
'Guide for Grief' is written with heart and compassion and anticipates the needs of those grieving. The art and prayers are especially inspired.
