Flames of Chaos (Legacy of the Nine Realms Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 9,276 ratings

Aria and her sisters return to the Human Realm of Haven Falls to find one of their own that’s gone missing. They soon discover things have changed in the Human Realm and that nothing is what it seems, including Knox, the egotistical, self-centered, frustratingly gorgeous man who declared himself King during their absence. Sparks fly when the two enter a fiery battle of wills as Aria learns she is more than just a witch in the Hecate bloodline; she is much, much more. Will Aria embrace her savage side to find her sister and save her family, or will she burn to ashes from his heated kisses and burning hot embrace? Knox has ulterior motives for being in Haven Falls and never expected the little witch to show up and brazenly challenge his rule. It was supposed to be easy; get in and get out. Move pieces into place and set the stage for the war he’s been planning for over five hundred years. Aria is his sworn enemy but something within her calls to him and he hates himself for craving the fiery kisses that have reignited his cold, dead heart. One taste, and he thought he could get her out of his system. He was wrong. Will Knox let go of the memories of the past, driving his need for revenge that will destroy the pretty little witch he craves, or will he push the boundaries to fight for and claim what is his by right? Either way, war is inevitable. And nothing will stop him from reaching for what is his. Epic Fantasy with heavy love-hate situations with adult situations.

This is true Enemies-Lovers, Dark Romance
5 Stars
This is true Enemies-Lovers, Dark Romance
I'm addicted! Then again that's what Amelia does best. This is a true enemies-to-lovers, dark romance novel, so if you're expecting the MC's to fall in love quickly then you'll be disappointed. This book is definitely only for people 18 years or older because the spice level is off the charts.I can't stress enough to READ THE AUTHORS WARNING!!! She practically draws you a detailed picture of the characters and she warns you that you won't immediately fall in love with the characters. This is truly a journey of how two people that hate each other, can find redemption in their love for each other. With that said let me start with a list of the things I like to find in a book with the enemies-to-lovers/dark romance trope and whether this book has it or not:Strong female lead?Yes. 100%. Aria Hecate quickly became one of my favorite characters. She is independent, sassy and, snarky. She doesn't bow down to Knox (except in the spicy scenes). I loved the banter back and forth between her and Knox, her and Greer, and even the banter with Brander and her sister's. You might find her at times to be naive and think why the hell is she doing that, but just remember she's only twenty-five with no sexual experience, except what she had with Knox.Strong male lead with alpha-asshole tendencies?Yes, again. Knox Karnavious is the epitome of an alpha-asshole. Bossy and domineering. His treatment of Aria at times will blow your mind. If you think you're going to instantly fall in love with his character, think again, to be honest, you're probably going to think this man has zero redeeming qualities whatsoever. You're going to wonder what Aria sees in him and to that, I'll just say to keep reading.Spice ranking 1-5 🌶:1-5? Girl!!!! The spice in this book is off the charts but very well written. For two people who hate each other Aria and Knox have amazing chemistry.Sarcasm/Humor/Banter:Yes, yes, and yes. One of my favorite things is the banter between Aria and Greer where he calls her a peasant and she calls him a meat suit. Calling Lacy a basic bitch after explaining what they would need for the ritual and where to find it but Lacy deserved it after she made Aria choke on a snake. When she punches Lore in the throat. When she left Knox speechless after walking out after they had sex, telling him to call it a f*ck and duck. Just to name but a few.Dark subject matter:Hell yes! Amelia does not shy away from any darkness she dives headfirst into it. The thing I loved most about this book is no matter how much abuse they put Aria through, she bounces back up and gives as good as she gets.Enemies-to-Lovers:Like I said this is a true enemies-to-lovers. Knox hates Aria for the fact that she's a Hecate witch. He wants to kill everyone who is born to the Hecate line and if you keep reading you'll probably agree he has good reason to. Does Aria deserve this? No. Aria hates Knox for the way he treats her. Does this get resolved by the end of the book? No, so if you're expecting them to fall in love in the middle of the book then I'm sorry to tell you that is not happening anytime soon. Keep in mind this is a series, the hate aspect of Aria and Knox's relationship probably won't be solved for a couple of books yet.Mystery/Intrigue:Amelia again keeps you guessing. First, it's what really happened to Amara, which you'll discover at, the end of the book, and then it's what type of creature Aria houses, finally what is Aria planning/plotting for this war that Knox has planned against the witches and if you think you'll have an answer by the end of this book. Then I'm sorry to inform you that won't happen. Again this is a series, if I'm not mistaken Amelia announced a 7 book series, but like she says there is always room for more chaos. If none of the things I listed bothers you but some of it may intrigue you and makes you want to read this book? Then buckle up cupcake, cause this is an emotional ride and you might want to keep your therapists number on speed dial!

I have to preface this by saying that I went into this book with a bit of skepticism. It wasn't because I doubted the writing ability of Amelia Hutchins but because I've already been so emotionally invested in her Fae and Monsters series that I had a hard time imagining anything but those worlds from her. And, as those who follow her know, she wrote this book in just thirteen days. Thirteen days! No matter how much you love an author, you have to wonder how good the story is going to be when it's put together that quickly.

Well, never have I been so happy to have someone slap me upside the head and prove me wrong. Flames of Chaos is without a doubt her best book yet. Do I feel like I just totally betrayed my beloved Lena and Lucian by saying that? Yep, I sure do, but it's the truth. This book is absolutely epic! The strength of the new characters and their chemistry punches you in the face right away . The push and pull between them is super hot and you know immediately that there is going to be some great battles. The action is super fast paced. There are no lulls and no filler chapters, every chapter and every word is important to the story. There are no "now might be a good time for a coffee refill" moments. You won't want to put it down.

Aria is our new alpha female and she's a force to be reckoned with. She is deeply devoted to her sisters and the Hecate legacy and wants nothing to do with Knox who seems to have walked in and taken over everything. You get a sense of her power and the strength of her magic from the start which already sets her apart but then she goes through her transition and you realize you haven't seen anything yet! I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say this, Aria is freaking amazing. She's strong, she's incredibly smart, she's hilarious and she doesn't give up for anything. And if she gives in, it's because she wants something, not because something is being taken from her.

Knox. *sigh* I hate him. I love him. He has some serious deep seeded issues and a hate for the Hecate witches that runs very, very deep. And he's horrible to Aria. I mean, I was furious with the cruelty of his words at some points. There was no way I was ever going to grow to love this man, ever. And then we find out more about his past and all that he's lost and my heart broke for him. I began to understand his anger and I just wanted him to stop hurting. The conflict he was dealing with throughout the book was so believable. You could feel it yourself. Everything he'd become was wrapped up in hating the Hecate witches and exacting his revenge and then Aria appears and awakens something in him that leaves him feeling like he's betraying those most important to him. He's so beautifully broken and conflicted.

There is absolutely nothing I can criticize in this book. The battle between these two is fire. The banter is hilarious, in true Amelia Hutchins fashion, and the hot scenes are off the charts. There's so much more I could say but I'd start wading into spoiler territory and I don't want to cheat anyone out of experiencing this story firsthand. I've always said that Amelia's greatest ability is the way in which she creates these unbelievable worlds for us to get lost in and she's so done it again. This was just the first book and you can already feel the potential of all the stories that are yet to come. I know a lot of fans have been worried about us coming to the end of Amelia's other series but after reading FoC, I know we have nothing to fear. She's got us covered with the Legacy of the Nine Realms. 100%

Even though this series contains some undesirable content, I like the story. Their relationship is odd, but there are people who are not into the norm and that needs to be respected. Besides, it is a book, a story, not real life.

This really sucks you in. It's different for sure. Unexpected. Sometimes (mostly) frustrating. It definitely gets you emotionally invested. I missed many hours of sleep to read these books. The majority of the time I wanted to shake some sense into the two main characters.

There is a lot of repetitive content, but I just skim over that and move along. I think far too many books now are not written/edited well. I've actually come to expect it from some of these authors at this point.

I am frustrated at the fact that it says it is a five book series, only to find that there are two more after I've already gotten to book 5. I don't like to read a book if the series is incomplete. I don't want to have to wait a year between books to continue the story. I lose interest and move on completely. If I had read this series when it first came out, I would have moved on and given up on it. If the next books do not come out soon, that will be the case. There are far too many others out there that will catch my interest and this will be completely forgotten.

As much as I want to know what happens to Knox and Aria and the babes, I'm not that patient. So much for the Spring 2024 release of King of Chaos I guess. Other authors already have books well into 2025 that can be pre-ordered, yet this series has gone MIA (Personally, I would not be interested if this stretches into 2025. If so, I am jumping ship! It isn't THAT good).

This one has a trigger warning but it's not in depth however just know there are Many It's Very sexual, brutality and blood and fighting of all kinds as well as forced rapey type scenarios. That being said, if you don't like those kind of books, don't read them.

It was a very spicy and very interesting book. The FMC is a born Hecate Witch with a dormant monster side that she only discovers after losing her virginity. The MMC is a love to Hate kinda character. This isn't your fuzzy lovey romance, it's a struggle of enemies who are also lovers.

I gave this book only 4 stars because even though the primise of this book is good. It is a little rough around the edges and could have used some refining, some use of some other expletives.  Over all though I think it was a good story just needed a little bit more world building and character development.

Amelia Hutchins is unreal. The depth of the characters, learning them little by little as you read until you find yourself cheering for them (even the ones you hate in the beginning). And Aria, the MFC, is my hero. Watching her go through heartbreaking adversity to come back swinging even harder and coming out on top is such a roller coaster of emotions. This series is deep and trigger-rific and terrible and amazing twisty and turny and unforgettable. Do yourself a favor and make this your next read.

The story itself is not bad. I kept reading to find out what happened. But there are sooo many extra words. And I'm not usually bothered by sex scenes, but these were ridiculous. It seemed like multiple pages saying the same thing to describe the sex. Without the repetitive descriptions throughout the book (sex and non sex), this book would be a lot shorter. It took a long time to get to the point on some parts. And not in a good way. I wish I could filter out some. I want to read the next, but this first one was exhausting.

Aria Hecate, a bloodline witch, returns to the town she grew up in with her sisters, trying to find her twin who seems to have disappeared.. but when they return they find out that the town is very different, with a new person in charge.

I absolutely loved this book! Every time I thought I had figured out what was going on, something changed and took the story in a new direction! The spice? Unreal! The plot? Absolutely fantastic! I loved the character growth for Aria, I loved watching her become stronger

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends who love fantasy and spice

I couldn't wait to open this book and dive into the new story.

I gave this book 4.9 ⭐️ only because I was missing a few things to make it perfect for me, but otherwise I freaking demolished this book!

I read one other series by Amelia, called Fae Chronicles. I loved it so much...I haven't finished it yet, because when I read it, I read a book 5 and I believe there weren't books in that time, but now they are.

Amelia's books are definitely different from any other fantasy books I've read. Both of her main character female and male are always very powerful, and often it's up to the storyline to decide which character is gonna end up dominating the other one. As of this story I really hope it's aria because I need her to be the one to end up winning.

However, when I started reading this series I was first team Aria, then I kind of changed and I was team Knox. And now I am like I know why he's doing it but I'm also like team Aria all the way.

I couldn't get enough of this book. I was turning page, after page, after page trying to get as much of the information in, as much of the stories and of the characters and everything in it absorbed.

At times I was frustrated with how Aria behaved or more to say acted, meaning she was all bad-ass until it came to bedroom or one touch from Knox. I loved how smart she was and she wouldn't let anyone hurt her family no matter what. She came into the town searching for her sister-her twin only to end up discovering way more than she initially thought there was.

Knox was a calculating bastard, but he achieved it very well and because of his looks he got away with everything + his power, let's not forget about that. He had his ulterior motives of why he came into town and he set them in motion, but he didn't expect Aria to show up and basically rock his world.

There was a lot of steamy scenes a lot of spice and everything that was really nice. I loved how Amelia-the author didn't hold back, but gave us more than just two pages of erotic scenes. I would think that more than two pages would be a lot to handle and more like boring, but it wasn't. She made it hers and she made it amazing, let's say.

I truly, really can't wait to read next books because this one caught my heart and wouldn't let it go.

I cannot stress this enough, but please read this series and read it knowing that it is very dark but at the same time so amazing.

I don't want to spoil anything but thereis a lot of lore in this book, a lot of information we are given about the background, the world, some events. I can easily see the hints and easter eggs Amelia planted in this book for the future. She has a guide in the back of the book to explain characters, places etc.

Knox and Aria? Well let’s just say they are an inevitable force. They hate one another but want each other more than anything else, it's something they cannot explain and if you have read the future books then you know WHY but people can guess. Amelia pretty much makes it obvious to us here.
