Action packed romantic suspense
This romantic suspense had constant action. Isla is on the run from her corrupt cop boyfriend and working as a nurse in the UK. Ben and his father are on a trip when his dad is injured and Isla cares for him. Her boyfriend catches up to her and Ben is swept into helping her. They go back to the United States where Ben is dealing with a failing family business and a mystery surrounding it. If you like romance, suspense, and talk of faith you will really enjoy this book!

Isla is on the run from corrupt men in order to save her life. She doesn’t always know who to trust. Ben doesn’t trust her at first because she sprays him with pepper spray for no apparent reason. There are dual stories of corruption, which eventually intertwine between two countries. Through a series of adventures, Ben and his father Richard hire Isla to help nurse Richard back to health. This provides opportunities for Ben and Isla to get to know each other better, and for Isla to get a short respite from the chase. This was another great adventure with the fun and likable Pressley-Coombes family, although there were some parts which did raise my heart rate. Also, the audio was well done.

Skye Fall is an action-filled Christian romantic suspense that captured my interest from the very start. Isla is a very resourceful young woman who is on the run and is a very capable nurse. She has an encounter with American Ben and his father while they are on a climbing trip in Scotland. Fate couldn’t have given them a better opportunity and the adventure, danger and mystery only served to make this story perfectly perfect.

The painting, the setting, the romance, the suspense, the religious elements, and the characters made this one so well-rounded and balanced. The forced proximity and twists and turns were some of my favorite parts. I haven’t read the others in this series, but now I want to, and this book can stand alone.

This book has been on my tbr list for awhile and it did not disappoint! The suspense...the romance...the entire plot had me up past my bedtime. Author Paige Edwards has a gift for writing. Thank you @authorpaigeedwards

I started out loving this. The suspense hooked me, the characterization was amazing) and I was excited for the possible romance. However, there were too many parts of the plot that threw me out of the story.

When she was almost killed in the beginning I hungrily read more, wondering how she'd gotten away. Her deliverance, however, was not believable. You can't tell me that a criminal who doesn't want to be caught would leave a person to die under a bridge where someone could find them.

Had that been the only glitch, I could have looked past it. But the "bad guy" ( spoiler alert) kept showing up in illogical places. Having several family members who work in the medical field, I find it unlikely that someone could get into a hospital unit with a ski mask on to attack someone. Even if they did get past security, why would they attack in an area with so many witnesses? It would be more likely for the attack to take place in a dark parking lot outside the hospital. Or better yet, for him to hide out in her car and attack on her way home.

I also was annoyed that he just kept showing up and bumbling the attacks. I think I would have preferred if he kept getting closer and closer, then having one or two climactic attacks.

The romance was sweet. I don't know that her way into the relationship was believable, but I did enjoy it. I wasn't convinced that she could go from such trauma to miraculously being O.K. at the end, though. Don't get me wrong: I very much believe in prayer and miracles. Still, most situations of trauma I've witnessed have been a process of time even with faith and prayer. I did read the afterward and know the author drew on her own experiences of childhood abuse to write this. Still, childhood abuse and attempted murder (not abuse related) are two completely different experiences. I know a few individuals who experienced attempted murder during a robbery, as well as friends who have experienced childhood and marital abuse. Their coping mechanisms afterward and their PTSD manifested very differently. I'm not saying the two can't cross over, but I found the quick recovery in this story unbelievable.

Overall, I was disappointed. I really wanted to like this. I wanted to love it! Murder stories do bother me, but I love suspense/action/romances. This author also has great characterization and a smooth way of writing. The editing was good and the characters were believable. Unfortunately, the glitches in the plot kept throwing me out of the story. I do, though, find myself interested in reading more from this author. Just because this story fell flat for me doesn't mean others will.
