The Snow Globe Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 705 ratings

Discover an unforgettable holiday treasure in Sheila Roberts' heartwarming tale of love and laughter, magic and miracles, friendship and coming home…

On a blustery afternoon, Kylie Gray wanders into an antique shop and buys an enchanting snow globe. "There's a story behind that snow globe," the antique dealer tells her. The original owner, he explains, was a German toymaker who lost his wife and son right before Christmas. When the grieving widower received the handcrafted snow globe as a Christmas gift, he saw the image of a beautiful woman beneath the glass—a woman who would come into his life, mend his broken heart and bring him back to the world of the living. For years, the snow globe has passed from generation to generation, somehow always landing in the hands of a person in special need of a Christmas miracle.

Kiley could use a miracle herself. This year, all she wants for Christmas is someone to love. A hopeful shake leads her on an adventure that makes a believer out of her. When Kylie shares the story of the snow globe with her best friends—two women with problems of their own—they don't believe it. But they're about to discover that at Christmastime, sometimes the impossible becomes possible and miracles really do come true.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

An antique snow globe brings good luck to its owners in Roberts's easygoing Christmas time killer. Kiley Gray's having a tough time: her boyfriend has just dumped her for her ditzy sister, she can't find a job, and her best friends Suzanne and Alison are too busy to stay in touch. But when Kiley wanders into an antiques store, she eyes a beautiful snow globe that the store's owner promises her will perform miracles. Sure enough, the globe leads Kiley to the man of her dreams and is soon working its magic for Suzanne and Alison, too. While the drama is decidedly sedate, Roberts's well-intentioned story serves as a light, pleasant reminder about the importance of balancing family, friends, love, and career. (Nov.) (c)

From Booklist

Kiley, Suzanne, and Allison are good friends who are all going through a rough time in November. Kiley just lost her job, and her fiancé dumped her at Halloween. Suzanne is a chronic workaholic, who routinely neglects her husband and daughter to chase her dream of a Martha Stewartesque, perfectly decorated mansion. Allison has food and weight issues connected with last year’s passing of her beloved grandmother, the only one to rein in the clan when it got rowdy, as it always did around the holidays. Then Kiley purchases an antique snow globe reputed to help those in need of a miracle, and it provides one! Roberts’ charming holiday-themed contemporary story set in the Seattle area offers hope, comfort, and a second chance for those who believe, and a nudge to change the minds of those who don’t. --Lynne Welch

It’s a fictional delight—perhaps more like fantasy and magic—as three women find what they need through the magic of a snow globe.

This is a sweet Christmas book about love, friendships, family and miracles. Kylie is feeling alone right before Christmas. She's lost her job, her boyfriend has left her, and her friends are too busy to really include her in their activities.

She decides to treat herself to an antiques store trip, where she finds a snow globe that she fancies, but should she spend some of her dwindling money to buy it. The store owner convinces her with a story of it's history, that it is special for people who need it. When she takes it home, she realizes that it has special powers. She eventually shares it with her doubting friends, and they too find it does great things for them too.

I found this book to be an uplifting read. Very creative thinking and just a perfect read for the miracles of the season. Though it is a small book, the simplicity makes it a fun read. We love snow globes in our house, which might have added to enjoyment to this fantasy read!!

Not Rick, Jan. We share our Amazon account. Such a charming story! But, it felt not quite complete. It needed one final chapter - resolution for Allison. Perhaps in another book??

Finding an antique snow globe changes 3 friends lives. At first it appears to not work but then the first friend sees herself in the globe and goes exactly where it guides her. From there it is passed on to each friend. Sometimes you wish these stories were true.

Cute little story about a magical snow globe that gives life advice. I guess we could all use one at some point.

Everyone seems to have explained the book very well. So I'll just add that I've read every Sheila Roberts book I can get my hands on. I'm never sorry. Really love her books and I read everything from suspsense to biographies. She just seems to invite you in to MEET these characters. They're all so great. Wish the book was bigger, but what a wonderfully fun read. If you haven't tried her other books... now's a great time. I am always glad go stick my nose in one of her stories.
The book description should tell you if it's right for you or not. But if you happen to like these sort of books- she's just the author to do it well.

I would like I thank Clara Diaz from Little, Brown Book Group for sending me a copy of this books in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Kiley is browsing in a small shop when she comes across the snow globe, according to the owner this isn't an ordinary snow globe...

The snow globe gives each owner a glimpse into their future, Kiley sees a toy store and follows her instincts.

Suzanne sees something she doesn't want to see and thinks the snow globe is jinxed.

Allison thinks the snow globe hasn't worked for her.

The three friends are about to have their lives changed in so many different ways. The story isn't just about the snow globe it's about friendship and what is important in life.

The book is written so that you follow each of the characters story. It is a easy read with lots of feel good factor, not necessarily as a Christmas Story. Yes the history of the snow globe is a bit unbelievable, but isn't that what miracles are all about.

I liked all three main characters, even Suzanne, she had just lost sight if what is important in life. This is the first book of Sheila Roberts I have read and look forward to reading more.
