From the Author

DESIRE'S EDGE was a joy to write. I love to explore the BDSM theme in all its various forms. In many of my Eden Bradley books, as well as in my first 'Eve' book, PLEASURE'S EDGE, my characters went a bit deeper into their BDSM play. It was fun and refreshing to write BDSM with a slightly softer edge this time. While my hero, Dante, is an experienced dominant, this is more of a spanking book, with Dante and Kara delving into some heavier play at the Pleasure Dome. I focused a bit more intently on the developing relationship, and their story was so touching for me. I love to watch my characters fall in love-and these two fell hard!My next 'Edge' book, TEMPTATION'S EDGE, will be an entirely different look at the BDSM dynamic, with appearances from the characters in previous books-I hope you'll all enjoy it when it comes out in 2012.Eve Berlin

Eden Bradley as we already know has some very erotic writing styles. I automatically expect this whenever I pick up one of her books, and if I don’t get that, I’m going to be really disappointed.

You don’t have to be disappointed when reading this book though. (I never had my doubts thought…I mean the title sets that one up for you.) In this story, we welcome Kara and Dante. These two actually knew each other years before the setting of this story. Going to high school together, they both secretly actually were attracted to each other, but due to timing, they never acted upon their desires. Well now they get a second chance!

Years later they’re reintroduced at a friend’s party, and the attraction is automatically there. Like it never died down and they’re back in high school again. They don’t wait long this time though to act on their desires, thank god because I don’t like waiting!
They soon come to find out though, that they share more than just an attraction towards each other, but they actually prefer BDSM play. Kara has never gotten to truly experience this though in any of her previous relationships, regardless of her “need” to, in fact that last guy that she was with took off whenever the word spank was brought up. Thought she was some sort of freak, and of course that took a toll on her mentally, because with desires like these, she already felt as though she didn’t fit in. Guys can be such dicks sometimes.

Apparently though, running into Dante was good for her, because with his experience as a Dom, he gets to show her all the things that she has longed to experience. He gets to bring the freak out in her! And she is all for it. She even got to experience an orgasm just with him playing with her nipples. I didn’t even know that was possible!

They’re perfectly content with doing what they’re doing, playing and experiencing more and more of each other physically; but what they didn’t expect was to end up working together. Both lawyers, so both very powerful and stubborn people, Dante ends up getting a job at Kara’s law firm. But that doesn’t have to be so bad. In fact, they make the best of it, and meet each other now and then for some fun play time in his office.

Although they never have sex at their office, she does have multiple orgasms everywhere else it seems like. She has plenty of orgasms under his hand in his office, but she also has mind blowing orgasms in restaurants, at the club, almost in a taxi on the way home from the club, and once he can’t even wait until they make it home, they f*ck in his car in the office parking garage! Whew talk about hot! I haven’t read a scene about sex in a car since Fifty Shades Freed.

Another thing they didn’t expect was to fall in love. But with both of their pasts, her dick of an ex, and his college ex (which you’ll learn about what happened with her); they fight this tooth and nail! She doesn’t want to feel like a sissy for falling for someone and giving someone else that power over her, and he doesn’t believe that he’s capable after what he’s been through. STOP FIGHTING IT!! That’s all I wanted to keep screaming at them.

All in all, I wasn’t disappointed with this book, and I have multiple others by Eden Bradley that I plan to read. So stay tuned for more, and remember if you’re looking for erotica in a book, this girl is the one to go to!

Eve Berlin talent's comes into play in this 2nd installment. Some people found the heroine annoying and that's where i say:" WELL DONE". This heroine was supposed to be exactly this way. This is a young woman who didn't even know she had sub tendencies although she craved some of the physical traits of BDSM. This young lady was born to two geniuses parents while her dream was to become an artist. She of course had to abandon that dream because it wasn't good enough in the eyes of her parents, whom she felt were not please to have such an average child. She then, went to law school while struggling to make it and pass the bar exam and even then, she was still not good enough or smart enough as her parents. She was almost invisible to her parents who dedicated their time to their careers and projects not paying much attention to her. That's a heavy load for a single child to bear and it can leave a pretty dent in her mental well being and it did. She wanted someone to care for her, to pay attention to her. The outcome came in the form of wanting to submit, to relinquish her power to someone else which she didn't know at the time that it was what she was doing wanting to be spanked etc. Her ex found her to be freaky and rejected her thus leaving another wound of not being good enough. But see, the need to submit was only a desire to let go of all those years of having to carry that heavy load of not being smart enough being compared to her parents, not measuring up to them and their satisfaction, not having been a priority in her parents' life. Then came the ex rejection after she showed him her vulnerability and needs. So, yes, BRAVO to Eve Berlin for a job well done because a whole lot of readers got annoyed by the heroine erratic and unpredictable behavior as such was the point of her character. This is a superb erotic/romantic story and you have to open your mind to understand this heroine complicated emotions. She has deep flaws and we can't always expect the perfect heroine.

I went into this expecting to LOVE it, since I loved Eve Berlin's Desire's Edge, and I did enjoy it, tremendously... but I didn't LOVE it as intensely. I've been struggling, since, to figure out WHY.

Maybe I'm just water-jealous. Set in Seattle, there's a lot of waterplay in the shower. For myself, living in SoCal, which is perennial drought territory, you would no more think of endless sexplay while RUNNING WATER in the shower than you would consider eating a kitten for breakfast. So I know, I had this big cultural taboo "thing" to try to get past that was bigger than any of the other BDSM issues.

I loved the sex scenes between Kara and Dante, but I didn't feel the barriers between them were big enough/believable enough. Which sapped some of the tension and the satisfaction level of the ending.

That said, both were interesting characters, and the sex scenes were hot, hot HOT. I'm still a major fan of Ms. Berlin and her work, and this is a book well worth reading.

Ms. Berlin has written another wonderful book and is everything I expected. The glimpse she gives into the world of BDSM is enlightening, intelligent and educational. I enjoy reading about it when it is part of a hot romance! Desire's edge has it all! I read through all the reviews and am sorry to see the one uncomplimentary one. If she thought is was so bad why did she finish reading it. Was there a bad day for this person? Hopefully, new readers to Ms. Berlin's work will ignore it and read all her books!

One word: Boring... I hate to give a review such few stars, but honestly more than anything this story was just boring.

The sex scenes were hot, but there was no actual conflict ... it was all internal (bs) conflict.

If you like reading about emotional angst with no true meat in the story - just all internal conflict ...if you like that stuff, this is the book for you because it has hot sex scenes and a lot of internal emotional angst.

For me though, whenever they were not boning (even the boning got repetitive), it was just BORING.

1.0 out of 5 stars HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

"Frustration, although quite painful at times, is a very positive and essential part of success."
- by Bo Bennett -

1 1/2 stars.

I am so proud that I could finish this book. It was painful and frustrating in a very bad way, and in the end I think this was a personal success because I was bored to the core. Desire's Edge couldn't live up to my expectations. Not by a long shot. I'm extremely disappointed.

Dante De Matteo is a Dom. He likes to have everything under control, and he prefers to not get emotionally involved. Dante plays out his fantasies at the Pleasure Dome - a BDSM club. Please note: there are only two sex scenes set up at the Pleasure Dome. Dante and Kara Crawford are meeting at a friend's party. Kara already had a crush on Dante during high school. They have a hot one night stand that turns into a 'relationship'. After her boyfriend dumped her, Kara is glad that she can finally play out her fantasy and be a sub. Later on, Dante is disturbed by his growing attachment. And so is Kara.

The book cover is hot but that's as far as it goes (the hero has a kink with water). I really LOVED Pleasure's Edge by Eve Berlin. This was the prequel to Desire's Edge. Usually I like this author's writing style. However, Desire's Edge is a huge disappointment! Jeez, I was on edge while reading this book, and my desire was jack shit. When I'm reading a good erotic book I can get all hot and bothered. Certainly this one here was a HUGE turn-off! Desire's Edge is neither sensual nor erotic.

The storyline is incredibly weak. To put it simply, Dante and Kara have the hots for each other and they have plenty of sex. The characters were less than convincing, they didn't have depth, and I didn't care for them. Like an afterthought the author mixed up the COUNTLESS sex scenes with a boring plot. This book is totally shallow and annoying. The spanking is overused and there's other pain play as well which I didn't really appreciated. And the sex scenes were utterly tedious. Frankly, there was too much sex and those scenes were badly written. After a while I didn't count anymore how often poor Kara had to bend over Dante's desk and spread her 'pretty thighs'. *rolls her eyes* I wanted it to be over! Dante calls Kara "my girl", "beautiful girl", "good girl"...gosh, I hate this! Why would a guy call a 29 year old woman "girl"???

I resent it that Kara is only the sex object during the play at the Pleasure Dome. She is the one who has to get undressed. Dante didn't have to get naked too. In real life it's absolutely the same: everyone can watch a woman's breasts and even more but when it comes down to men showing their goods (or lack thereof - oh, my gosh, I'm being mean)...yeah, and then what, huh? Get real here, Dante is the salacious and randy guy who loves to watch her. We're living in a modern world and we have equal rights - at least I thought so...but Kara is totally under Dante's command - not only in the bedroom. I know that he's the Dom and she's the sub. It's difficult to put the finger on it, but this felt not quite right. And they say that the sub's got the power. Jeez, where was her power? She's too weak, insecure and seems like a doll. He does what he wants and she's obeying. Even the hero was weak. He's scared and doesn't know how to deal with his feelings, and he didn't seem very mature. Good and proper communication is always the foundation of a good relationship. This is so essential. There's this saying "The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time. But also to leave the wrong thing unsaid at the most tempting moment."

There is something I was missing so much here: the atmospheric scenery. Ms Berlin/Bradley is absolutely able to write with such great care about the story's surroundings...and this was totally lacking here. Pity! I didn't even like the final part of this book. This was way too cheesy.

Ah, this was weird too. Kara's standing in his apartment. And here it comes: 'She was quiet, standing before him, her hands hanging at her sides. He could see that she was going down already, into subspace, that misty space in her mind where a bottom really began to let go.' Hello??? I mean they didn't do anything at all - they were only looking at each other. And he's already speaking about subspace. Yeah, I feel so spaced out when I have to read something like this. *rolls her eyes again*

He says a few times "Keep it under control, buddy." Yes, please, please - I even beg - keep your hard-on under control. I mean I don't have a c*** but it has to be really, really painful sporting a hard-on 24/7! *rolls her eyes once AGAIN*

Whichever way you look at it this book is bad, and I needed all my willpower to finish it.
