Jason is my all-time favorite writer, his stories keep me up all night" --Evie Seo, Bookish Reviews "This is a roller coaster ride: you're in the hot sun, chugging to the top, anticipating the drop the whole way and then--boom--the drop comes and you're gasping for air. The hot wind blasts you and your guts are in your throat. In the last half of the book, some scenes had me by the larynx. Highly recommended!" --Reader review "A must read, but not for the faint of heart." --EZread.com

Jason McIntyre is a writer to watch, and I came late to discovering his talent. So many books to catch up with and I'm grateful. Walkout is a ghost story, a haunting, and it's the reader right along with the main character who is haunted. The mystery, the why, is what made me keep turning pages. Told from the point of view of a woman in distress, going about her normal life and facing more and more questionable circumstances. This narrative style isn't new, but the author does an admirable job exploring the idea, and succeeds. The perfect length too, and this is important because too many novels are padded unnecessarily. Well done.

A very quick read. Mr. McIntyre's writing style fits my eye. This is the 3rd book of his I've read. His writing has been described as 'dark' but I find it more unique. This is not for everyone. I'm glad Eden turned me on to him. Those Canadians stick together.

One sure detail that sticks out for me in McIntyre's writing is his... attention to detail. I think suspense works are sometimes lost in the thrill of the story, and not enough of the "world" bleeds through.

In Walkout, McIntyre's world building - his descriptions of surroundings and beauty and the cold - captivated me from first pages. His writing is flawless - from the standpoint of editing, flow or otherwise - Jason McIntyre is readable.

I enjoyed this novella as much or more than I enjoyed his other works, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great piece to get lost in.

I don't like to give things away in my reviews, so let's see if I can do this book justice without doing that.
I LITERALLY did not stop reading this book once I started the first page. I was so fixated on what the "new thing" was that I never saw the end coming.
I am a huge Jason fan, I like dark and twisted and he never fails to give that to me.
Gavin, handsome, finacially secure, attentive.
Peach, ready to do anything to please the man she loves, even things she doesn't really want to do.
Remember "Mother knows best".

McIntyre weaves a story like few writers could dare dream of doing. McIntyre's wit is beautifully evident in this story, and his writing is full of emotion and suspense as most of his readers have come to expect., .... this book is a must read for anybody who has a love of sharp, intelligent writing.

Stark, vivid imagery is a trademark of Jason McIntyre's work, and this grim tale is no exception. The author makes you see, taste, and smell every tantalizing scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good reading!

The good thing about having acquired a Kindle e-reader is that one can come across a great variety of works and authors. This is what happened to me with McIntyre's Walkout. Writing short stories is not easy and there are legions of constant readers who would be reluctant to read them, prefering long novels instead. McIntyre manages to engage the reader in an spell-binding story, full of mistery and a surprising ending. The first thing that called my attention is the style: fluent, engaging and at the same time poetic. The story is masterfully well written and although the readers may be confused at moments due to the complexity of the plot, McIntyre manages to lead them towards an amazing ending that won't leave the readers indifferent. Fans of this genre shouldn't miss this novella, it's a treat!

When I was first introduced to this collection of two stories, I thought I was in for a treat. Little did I know how overwhelmed I would be by the brilliant story-telling and flawless characterisation in these incredible books. Walkout and Transform are superbly told, offering the reader glimpses into the characters troubled pasts which unfurl into shocking, intricate and nightmarish scenarios. These are made all the more enjoyable by their unpredictability and the often even elegant way in which the characters try to assess their feelings. I honestly could not recommend them enough. I also have no doubt in my mind that should Walkout be made into a film, with the right director at it's helm, it would be hugely successful.
If you like your books to grab you from the word go and with a little bit of King, Thomas H. Cook and a dash of Hitchcockian essence thrown in, then these are most definitely for you. Mr. McIntyre is now one of my most favourite authors and I literally cannot wait to read more from him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 24, 2012
I downloaded this book for free as part of my new author search, it revolves around the main character Peaches and the breakdown of her relationship and the resulting breakdown she suffers herself, as the characters mind starts to unravel resulting in sleepwalking and an obsession with her boyfriends boathouse and the role it may of played in his ex-wives disappearance, the narrative alters during the story reflecting the disorientation the character in the book is feeling. Much to my delight this edition of Walkout also had an extra story in it "Through the transom story", this was well written and emotional, showing a difference in writing styles that is equally as good.
