- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2015Exellent information about which succulents will survive in different environments. I have purchased and read many books on the subject and this has the most specific answers that I have seen. Also, the photos are wonderful and very helpful! I live in an area that is close to both Phoenix and mountains so it is sometimes very difficult to know what type of plants I can grow. It gets up to 100 degrees and as low as -30! Plants here have to be very flexible and usually I just have to grow them by trial and error. My neighbor purchased this book and she was so happy with it, she showed it to me the next day. As soon as I scanned it, I ordered it on Amazon that very day. I would definitely recommend it to everyone interested in growing succulents!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2011This book was informtive. I do not know why it was "hardy succulents" a these plants grow in Zones 9 and 10 too. It would have made more sense had those zones been included. The pictures and information was great, and I guess we were supposed to know about zones 9 and 10 as I was unable to locate specific information.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2020I originally checked this book out from Overdrive. It became evident to me I had to own the paperback for my home library! It has everything I would ever need to be successful with the succulents I have collected over the years and love very much. I never really knew much about these amazing plants. I grow them both inside and outdoors in my rock garden. I never really learned proper care for them and they grew in spite of my neglect. This book has lots of ideas and inspiration for using succulents. I am especially thrilled to learn Wisconsin's use and care of these plants because the author has experienced gardening here as well as other areas of the USA. Great book!! Great value! Great resource!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2013If you're in Zone 7 or colder & tired of the "same ol', same ol' and want to expand beyond petunias, marigolds, snapdragons, & begonia's (yes, I know, they are lovely), this is the book for you. I, personally, am much heavier into cacti, but this covers them all! And certainly help you if you want to "specialize" -- or not! There are a LOT of plants out there, you poor folks of the colder climes, that you can grow -- most without any fancy/special protectors. And it's nice to look @ SOMETHING during the Winter, especially if there's no snow covering that bare ground! This is the book -- written by a person of long experience with Cold, with great pictures from many of the Cold-Hardy growing community of the Colorado area!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2024I learned a lot very good book
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2020I'm obsessed with succulents or chicken and hens is what we call them where I'm from..this is a great book that gives information about popular ones..its not what I was looking for but still neat to have.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2018One of the best books on hardy succulents I've seen. I needed this for my garden library but felt a used book would do. To my surprise, I received a book in crisp new condition at a reduced price. Very pleased.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2012I purchased this publication because our summers were becoming hotter and dryer and our plants and shrubs that generally grow in zone 6 were not making it even with daily watering. I am looking toward planing more succulents that I noticed survived all summer and winter with no problems and looked just as lovely as the day I planted them years before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardy Succulents
Very informative I'm new to Succulents and am growing them in pots outdoors. I found out the best Hardy ones - I didn't think they could be grown indoors!
I had always thought of cacti as spiked/dusty plants, that old ladies doted on! - but no so!
I have go about ten containers and all plants are flourishing,. The best part is you don't have to babysit with them - they look after themselves with all their babes!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Pictures
I wish I had borrowed this book from the public library as opposed to purchasing it. there was lots of pictures but not sure it will become a go-to book as time passes.
