After twenty years in traditional publishing, novelist Michael Prescott found himself out of work in 2007, his career apparently over. On a whim, he began releasing his older titles and some new novels in ebook form. Much to his amazement, sales took off, and by 2011 he was one of the bestselling ebook writers in the United States, profiled in USA Today and sought after for interviews. To date he has sold roughly four million books (both print and digital).

His latest full-length thriller is TEARS FOR THE DEAD, the fifth entry in a continuing series that also features COLD AROUND THE HEART, BLOOD IN THE WATER, BAD TO THE BONE, and SKIN IN THE GAME. A complete list of his books can be found at Amazon Author Central's Michael Prescott page. Please be aware that more than one writer uses the name "Michael Prescott," and sometimes the works of these other writers show up in Amazon searches or on Amazon sales pages. If a given book is not listed at Author Central, it is the work of a different author.

This is the first book I've read from this author. I really liked this story. I do have affinity for dark, twisted tales. The horror of the maniacs personality is scary as hell. I also enjoyed the two detectives. The truth being told in this story is that we all have a skeleton in our closet, & a few of us have an entire graveyard in ours. Glad I tried this writer. If you like disturbing tales that you can't. put down, give this one a read. Thanks for having one seriously creepy mind, Mr. Prescott. Oh, please make sure you purchase the right Micheal Prescott. There are a few authors of the same name.

I must admit I was a bit shocked and disturbed at the subject matter of this book, but I read it anyway, and it was worth it.
Michael Prescott is a brilliant author, every book he writes is completely different from his previous one. When reading a novel such as this I always try and guess ahead which is very hard to do with Prescott. There are always so many twists and turns in his plots making it very hard to guess what will happen next.
I don 't know how Prescott comes up with such completely different plots in each book. I wish I had his writing talent!
But back to Shudder. The suspense was very good as it gradually built towards an action packed climax. My only problem was that I would have preferred if the killer had gone after adults.
But well done, Michael. I've read most of your work now, Please keep writing.

Shudder is the second novel published by Michael Prescott under the name Brain Harper. Even though it was published in the mid nineties, Shudder has not aged at all. This is an excruciatingly suspenseful novel, filled with twists, as only Michael Prescott can deliver. I do not want to give away any of his surprises. Suffice to say that Shudder is an agonizingly disturbing novel and I mean that as a compliment!

Do yourself a favor and add Michael Prescott to that small list of "must buy" authors. You won't regret it. Search out all of his novels...you'll be glad that you did! Well done, Mr. Prescott!

As I read this mystery I was a little creeped out by the premise. Interestingly, I was reading the afterward and the author stated this was one of his earlier mysteries and that he had not read it since 1994. In preparing the book for electronic reading he realized his story was a bit "creepy". His words. The topic is child abuse and child kidnapping which is an unhappy subject at any time. Regardless the story is good with complete characters and plot lines and I will read more of Michael Prescott's works.

I've read a lot of your books because I love thrillers. Shudder gave me pause. Where do you go in your psyche to pull such a heinous story? I felt Jamie Frisch terror as he suffocated. It gave me nightmare and made me glad my children were grown, but I might have grandchildren one day...You successfully made the reader shudder. I shuddered.

As a long time Michael Prescott fan, I couldn't wait to absorb another of his works. Shudder did not disappoint. I found it to be one of his best works. The depiction of a character with Multiple Personality Disorder was as realistic as I would imagine one to be. Michael was able to get me, the reader, to relate to the compassion of the good half and despise the insanity of the bad half of Angela/Dominique. Strong characters and a plot that will keep you glued to your Kindle from start to finish. I would love to see this one made into a motion picture...

Shudder by Michael Prescott: I've read 15 of Michael's books and this is a very good novel.
If you haven't read Michael Prescott yet, this would be a good place to start. It is one of his
early endeavors and will introduce you to his psycho-thriller / serial killer genre.

This is a "can't put it down" type of book which I am sure you will enjoy. I finished reading this book today and I just opened an email about the release of Shatter, another early work which I will buy right after I post this....Great !!!!!

I agree with Micheal that this book should have been called Innocent Blood. I didn't like it as well as his more recent books but it was good. And I would like to comment to Micheal that I'm glad that he isn't writing any more books with children involved. But keep the other ones coming Micheal!!

I did not find Shudder to be as well as his previous stories that I have read.
This one was slow in places, and confusing early on.

Because the reader was aware of who the killer was it sort of put a damper I like to be in suspense

4.0 out of 5 stars Do not jump to the end of each chapter

I have given Michael four stars for this book.

The most important factor for me is that my interest is aroused early & the introduction
of the players is clear without an overkill of many numbers (excuse the pun)

The story line from the start caught me, at times I just had to read more, to see what happened next.

To add to my involvement the individual emotional input of each player was descrbed so well by the Author,
in my minds eye I could visulise them all which made this story almost factual & the scary part possible.

I would recommend this book as an excellent read. I am going to refrain from speaking about the actual
story line as each chapter throws in a different twist & I will not spoil the surprises.

Thankyou Michael Prescott
