The President's Killers Kindle Edition

"Sizzling!" - Kirkus Reviews
"The Ride of Your life!" - Midwest Book Review

THE PRESIDENT IS GUNNED DOWN BEFORE HIS EYES.
THE WHOLE COUNTRY BELIEVES HE'S THE ASSASSIN
.

To 23-year-old Denny Kinney only one thing is clear: every law-enforcement officer in the country wants to put a bullet in him. If he wants to live, Denny must not only elude a massive manhunt but he and girlfriend Meesh must slip into the nation's capital to try to uncover who was really responsible for the President's murder.

This riveting suspense novel by Karl Jacobs, an award-winning journalist and former top aide to a United States Senator, is more than a shocking, high-tension thriller. It will leave you wondering if the world will ever know the whole truth about the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King or any other historic event where there are disturbing unanswered questions.

This is a "fast-paced thriller which doesn't disappoint and which is spiced with a sense of reality that can only come from an author who was himself a key aide to a Senator," says Diane Donovan in the Midwest Book Review.

"The novel presents an ever-tightening net of intrigue and deception that involves forces on all sides in a desperate search," she says. "Part of what makes this thriller so exceptional is that it brings to mind events surrounding the Kennedy and King assassinations...From the nuances of the major characters' personalities and involvements to encounters between law enforcement agencies and a suspected killer on the loose, events progress swiftly and often unexpectedly with plenty of action and political and social insights."

Review

"This is an exceptional novel about political intrigue and high-stakes chase scenes. If you don't like cat-and-mouse thrillers, don't go here. If, however, you're a thriller reader used to such scenarios, be prepared for the ride of your life. There's nothing predictable about The President's Killers and no easy answers evident in the course of a struggle to unearth the identity of the real killers...it brings to mind events surrounding the Kennedy and Martin Luther King assassinations." -- Midwest Book Review

"When an opportunity to work for a Government organization called the Special Intelligence Group comes his way, 23-year-old Denny Kinney gladly accepts. After he's assigned to provide backup to the Secret Service, the President is shot -- and authorities are suddenly on Denny's trail, convinced he's the assassin. The novel offers full-tilt suspense and some mystery, with a solid female character in Denny's girlfriend. A fine thriller, succinct when it needs to be and sizzling where it counts."  -- Kirkus Reviews

Karl Jacobs knows where the bodies are buried in corporate America. He's worked in the corporate headquarters of major corporations on Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, in Newark, N.J., and in Wilmington, Delaware.

He was vice president-executive communications and chief speechwriter for two Chairmen-CEOs at Prudential Insurance and special assistant to the Vice Chairman of DuPont.

Before entering the business world, he was a writer and reporter with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, covering major news events throughout the country, and became assistant city editor. He later served as press secretary for a United States Senator in Washington.

Both of his novels grew out of this mix of experiences. His latest, THE HONORABLE THING, is the funny, deeply moving story of Katie and Jack, both 30-something and married, when they are thrown together in a puritanical giant corporation and break all the rules by falling in love. His first, an Amazon bestselling thriller, was THE PRESIDENT'S KILLERS, inspired by the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King. His next novel, about the U.S. Senate, will be released soon.

Born and reared in Superior, Wisconsin, Karl is a journalism graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later returned there to do graduate work in sociology as a Sage Fellow. He and his wife Kay met in high school band when he winked at her on a quarter bet with a fellow trumpet-player. He was 16 and she was 14. He won both the quarter and, eventually, Kay. They have three adult children and now live in Arizona.

I stumbled onto "The President's Killers" after installing the Kindle Reader for a trial run. Who's this Karl Jacobs?
I was totally engaged and would have stayed up until the wee hours, but forced myself to bed long after midnight! This is a page turner reminiscent of Elmore Leonard - the dialogue is crisp, the characters easily identifiable without the usual tags. The story line is credible, the locales well researched (or well known) by the author.
I returned to the book the following day and was unreachable until the Epilogue complete.
Well done Karl Jacobs. Let's hope we see more of you.

Good political, who done it, killer thriller. Fast paced, well researched with known places for realism and a real page turner.
The president is assassinated, an ex-jock looking a for a good job is duped into thinking he has scored a good one but is setup for the fall. While trying to figure what has happened and clear himself, he has to stay under the wire and a head of the law. Once I started this book I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

The President 's Killers has a unique plot that moves along very quickly. With that said, I think Mr. Jacobs would have been well served to have developed the plot a little more. That really is my only gripe with the book. Some of the sequences weren't quite believable, but that wasn't a deal breaker. This is a fun read that I would probably recommend to some of my friends, but not all of them.

Jacob's tale will cause anyone old enough to remember JFK and his brother Robert to again doubt the conclusion of the Warren commission in the 1963/1964 events that took two great men before their time. History's records are in concrete. But there are still a few who will go to their grave convinced that JFK was killed by someone other than Oswald. This reader being one of them. Jack's brother, Robert was the next victim of the same thing. Details were released that were just too hard to accept, but no way to disprove or discredit what was the "OFFICIAL" version. This is a great experience for the customer to make a decision on their own. A few will be hard pressed to put it down, some may want to examine the findings of the Warren commission and review what the general public was given to digest and except as fact. Some things that happen are only known to God. Thanks for a great read.

I enjoyed reading this book. The chapters are short which seemed to help the pace of the story. Unfortunately, the storyline seems a real possibility in this day and age. You root for Denny as he is in an impossible situation. I recommend this book.

With its release right around the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination, The President's Killers could not be more timely. In what appears to be his first book (the only one on Amazon anyway), Karl Jacobs pulls the reader in immediately with a title that begs to be explained. From there, the story kicks in with several great characters, and vivid descriptions of several American cities that will make you feel right at home. Within minutes of starting the book, you get so wrapped up that it's impossible to not start the next chapter. I can only hope that Mr. Jacobs puts out another book soon (sequel?); we may have found the next great thriller author.

The Presidents Killers is a well written novel of suspense. You seem' t sure why but know that the hero should be aware of danger as he responses to an internet want ad. The Twitter keeps you turning page after page as you try to reason out the plot line.

My only issue is that the ending comes suddenly, maybe a little rushed. I believe the writer needed a little more suspense and the book would have been a full 5 stars.

This book draws the reader into political intrigue, cross country chases and genuine evil. It makes the reader think about history yesterday and perhaps tomorrow. Jacobs combines a soaring imagination with a writing style that keeps the reader yearning for the next chapter. It's the "I can't put it down" kind of book. His descriptions of places and people create a tension that make mystery novels great. Karl Jacobs, you've produced a wonderful, thought provoking read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Initially a slow-burner but kicks up a pace once the action gets going!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 26, 2016
This was a bit of a slow-burner for me ... until about a third of the way in when it all kicks off big time! I loved the story and the way that Denny came to realise that he had been set up. He then sets off to prove it, all the time evading the police, FBI, as well as the people who set him up to take the fall for the assassination of the US President. It was very nail-biting towards the end and well plotted and described by the author. Far from being abrupt I thought the ending tied up Denny's story nicely, albeit with the definite feeling that not everyone involved was brought to justice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly enjoyable read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 24, 2017
I nearly gave up on this after the first few chapters. I think it would have been better if we hadn't been told the antagonists were not who they seemed right at the start. I persevered and the pace got better. It was entertaining but I echo other reviewers in that the hero goes from naive to devious rather too smoothly.
