Miracle In Progress Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

Sometimes pain creates an open wound or empty space that leaves us vulnerable to more pain in the future. The mental distress that follows can result in misguided efforts to relieve suffering through a variety of unhealthy, self-numbing behaviors. Relief that lasts is found when we learn to fill the void with something that heals. Rather than focusing on the differences between conditions, programs and health practices, Miracle In Progress encourages the reader to investigate the similarities and integrate every resource available for truly holistic recovery. Removing labels and judgments serves to connect the addict, the alcoholic, the codependent, the grieving and the obsessed in our shared search for peace. Holistic recovery is the ongoing process of repair and renewal in every area of life. Realizing the truth that all spiritual principles, healing practices and systems of the body are connected opens the door to options that create and maintain overall wellness. There is relief from suffering and an ever-evolving miracle set in motion when we are willing to make the connections that heal.

Marta Mrotek is the founder of Wellness Meetings, the originator of the Wellness Meetings Method, and the host of the Something Honest Podcast. She lives and works in the Phoenix area as a 500 EYRT yoga instructor offering regular in-studio classes, certification programs, and several online courses that are soon to be released for the general public. Some of her published works include professional blogs written as a lead advocate for breaking the stigma of addiction with Heroes in Recovery and as a contributing author for 365 Life Shifts. Her first book, Miracle in Progress, pointed to the need for a comprehensive guide to work this method effectively and led to the writing of the Self-Study for Self-Realization Series.

This book is useful on so many levels. The author has been able to exude her thoughtfulness, passion and love onto each page. I would like to add that I am not a recovering addict, nor am I using it for that purpose. I use this as a reference for yoga, meditation and information on deepening my practice. I have recommended it to instructors and friends. This book is also laid out so well and is easy to find what you are looking for. This book would be a wonderful addition to anyone interested in learning about yoga and meditation as well as to those in need of recovery or for someone they know.
p.s. I have carried this around in my bag since I got it in the mail!

Good to accompany AA Big Book- nice to use both to work steps. This book offers different insight, same type solutions.

There is much to ponder in these pages. Any of the several chapters provide thoughts and meditations that could turn a life around. I learned a good bit from each section, and the "Passages, prayers, and promises" section is pure gold. Highly recommend.

I don't typically write reviews (especially on books) but this is an exceptional read IMO. It opened up my heart and my mind and touched things on which I've been placing very low priority in my life. It's time to visit them, explore, and recover. The author has an awesome style and is very honest and "real." She employs a variety of mind/body/spirit methods as building blocks to recovery, regardless of the malady -- very effective.
I'm grateful for this author and her work and look forward to getting the workbook.

If you are looking for alternate ways to heal, this is the book for you. I am not a die hard 12-stepper. That said, this book incorporates the best of AA with major doses of other holistic healing techniques. Recovery is not just about the absence of substance abuse but the life journey to resolve, heal, and balance your life. Marta puts together the main courses that allows a person to pick from the menu and use the techniques that work best for them. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to improve the quality of their life.
