Hundreds of thousands of readers have discovered Pawleys Island Paradise ... it's your turn!

It started as a trip to lose old memories. It became a journey to find her heart.

Leslie Malone faces an empty, lonely summer. Her marriage is over. Her daughter is overseas, living her dream. Her students are enjoying a carefree summer break. What's the purpose of her life if she's not a wife, mother and teacher? The idea of a roadtrip beckons her. Aimless wandering? Or inspired discovery? A woman of faith, she asks God for His guidance, then does her best to follow His direction.

Hank Harrison is a quiet man, good with his hands, but short on words. He's paid a heavy price for not forgiving his son for horrible mistakes made years ago, mistakes with vast consequences. Hank recognizes Leslie as an answer to his prayers, and together, they begin to mend their futures.

Neither of them plans to fall in love. Will the worst summer of Leslie's life become the season that redeems them both?

Editorial Reviews

Review

This book reveals how one can take the lemons in life and make lemonade out of them. Leslie is recovering from a divorce her cheating husband springs on her after more than 20 years of marriage. But a road trip, stopping where she felt God was leading, led to God-opportunity adventures as she made her way to a childhood vacation spot on Pawleys Island, SC. There she finds healing, helps others find healing in forgiveness and is surprised by love. Prayer remained her key to open all the doors of adventure. -- Rose Ellen BlosserThinking she is now alone, and the daily to do list is gone, along with a husband, and daughter. Taking a road trip turned out to be so much more, not only for her, but with someone and new beginnings with. Delightful look of trying to start over, and finding the path to take. -- Ellen OceansideIf you're looking for a formula romance, skip this one. BUT...if you're looking for a sweet story with lovable and real characters and a well-paced plot, this one is it! This is a fun, cheering, and inspirational romance that will have you wanting to spend some time at the beach! Be ready for a surprise ending - it gave me goose pimples of delight. -- Josey JacquesLovely story in a perfectly romantic setting on Pawley' Island, South Carolina! You will fall in love with the characters immediately! It was nice to see Christian values upheld throughout the book and great that the characters experienced real emotions, fears and desires. -- Liz SmithThis is a book about following God's lead and taking second chances. Leslie started her road trip in despair over the breakup of her marriage and her daughter going abroad. She was seeking God's will through everything and he gave her some great opportunities and good friends along the way. The great thing about this book is the fact that God works in mysterious ways when we stay open to his will. Great book and keeps your interest. -- Anna M. Rapp

From the Author

Writing Roadtrip to Redemption was one of the most meaningful experiences of my writing career.  It set me off on a whole new journey of not only focusing on writing inspirational romance, and partnering with God to create the kind of stories that I was born to write ... but to introduce Leslie Malone, Hank Harrison and the whole gang to the world.  It ultimately took me six books to tell their stories, all ensconced in my most favorite place in the world, Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and specifically The Old Gray Barn.
I wish you the best while reading it and I hope you fall in love with this special family as well.  Love,Laurie

Beachy, heartwarming and inspirational, Laurie Larsen's love stories contain a message of faith in addition to the Happily Ever After. Her beloved Pawleys Island Paradise series gained fans, not only because of the stories and unforgettable characters, but the "arrogantly shabby" real-life island setting.

A multi-award winning author, she's won the EPIC Award for Best Spiritual Romance, the Illumination Book Award for Inspirational Romance Fiction and the eLit Award for Religious Fiction.

Laurie began her writing career back when she was juggling a challenging day job in Information Technology Management. Bewildered as to how an English major who loved to read discovered herself in a highly technical career path, writing became her creative release. Because "all good things come to those that wait," her reward finally arrived: retiring from the day job, moving to the beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry and writing novels full-time; at least, in between lathering on the sunscreen, walking the beach, and entertaining her feisty rescue pup, Weezer.

A member of Romance Writers of America for fifteen years, now, she's the President of an American Christian Fiction Writers chapter. She's lived her own Happily Ever After for over thirty years.

With her marriage over, the school year ended with a long summer break looming, and the family home on the market, Leslie decides to take a road trip. Her daughter Jasmine and she planned to escape to Pawleys Island, however, the internship of a lifetime to Learn about fashion in Paris, leaves Leslie making the trip alone. So she gives it over to God.

Along the way Leslie meets some interesting people and helps them in ways she never could have predicted. She truly starts to feel God has a plan for her summer. When she arrives in Pawleys Island and finds the summer home of her childhood, she feels a sense of peace and belonging she hasn't felt in years. The handsome man working on the house makes her feel something she hasn't felt in years as well.

With each glorious summer day weaving one into another, Leslie unwinds and comes to terms with her new reality. And she grows in her new friendships with Hank and his daughter and her family. Just when Leslie begins to feel she can't leave, something happens that forces her back to Pittsburgh and the realities of the life she ran from.

How will God use the summer and its friendships to help her adjust to her new life?

Journey with Leslie as she steps into new territory and finds herself. This is a lovely read, meandering like a walk on the beach, dodging the incoming waves. Like a beautiful sunrise the story unfolds, all in good time.

This was not a fast paced book.... it's one to read at your leisure. The title was a little misleading to me as I kept thinking the one who needed redemption was Tim, the ex-husband. I kept reading, hoping to see even a little bit of remorse in him but no, it didn't happen. Leslie and Tim were married 20 years. She was a teacher, mother and housewife. He was a doctor, father and controlling. She was faithful. He wasn't. He decides his wife is disposable and takes a 30 year old mistress.

Mid-life crisis? Don't know. This is never delved into. We get very little insight into Tim. Instead we follow Leslie on a road trip trying to learn how to live life without her husband. This road trip opens her eyes. She finds she is not alone, there are many suffering people learning to deal and cope with their problems.

Leslie finally makes it to her destination.... Pawley's Island, a place that housed many childhood memories for her. It was like coming home. There she meets Hank and learns she is not to old to find love. Two lonely people with shattered lives help each other come to terms with God, with love and with family.

After 20 years of marriage, Leslie Malone, finds herself signing divorce papers because of her husbands cheating. Being a school teacher and having the summer off, she decided to take a trip to the ocean and ends up in Pawleys Island. Along the way, you can see God putting her in places she needs to be, she is at the right place at the right time.
When she gets to Pawleys Island she meets Hank, who has his own issues and begins to think Leslie is God's answer to his prayers.
It is nice to pick up a book that shows God working in peoples lives, they pray for guidance but the religion isn't the focus. It is the reality of everyday people, living the life they have and God is in their lives. I found it a refreshing book and a book that God brought into my life at this time. I am going to continue with the series.

Christian elementary school teacher's doctor husband takes a younger woman as his girlfriend as part of his midlife crisis. Her frequent prayers to God are conversational. Her faith does not get shoved down anyone's throat; she just has a gift for guiding and helping others. There is a divorce, a road trip, meeting new folks. The story flows, the descriptions are concise, the writing is great. Example: She and a friend on a road trip only stopped for gas, food, and bio breaks. What a perfect way to describe the breaks one takes when the gas tank and the tummies are full so you pull over away from the gas pumps when your body's biology lets you know you need to do that. One brief note, the baby blankets and preemie caps were knit from cotton, not the wool yarn referenced in that part of the first road trip. There is romance and sexual attraction.

This was truly a lovely read. I'll admit up front that I am a friend of the author and the designer of the knitting pattern in the book, but that does not sway my review of the actual writing. I've been an independent book editor for many years, so I can't help but look critically at all books. Anyway, Roadtrip to Redemption was a lovely book. The characters are well rounded and easy to get to know. You will feel like you know them personally. I lost a morning and part of an afternoon reading this book because I could not put it down and I wanted it to go on. In fact, if I had a criticism, I'd say that I wish it were longer. I really enjoyed reading the story. I'm looking forward to reading the second installment in the Pawleys Island Paradise series. Roadtrip to Redemption will make a great early summer read - grab it now and make a little time for yourself. You'll feel like you've been to the beach even if you just stay home in your easy chair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting story with a happy ending
Reviewed in Australia on July 26, 2018
While the premise behind this story was good - letting God lead your life and being open to the people He brings into your life, the story was a little unrealistic. I was a little uncomfortable with how quickly she fell in love after ending her first marriage. Thee wasn't much resolution of her failed marriage before she begins again. I also thought that the descriptions of physical affections were more detailed than necessary. While aspects of the story encouraged to the reader to trust God more fully, I wondered if the contrived nature of some sections of the story were counterproductive to that message. Overall an enjoyable story with a happy and slightly unexpected ending.

Great Book - kept me turning the pages from beginning to end. A great story of how God took one lady who was in a traumatic time in her life and took her on a journey of discovery where she met so many people along the way and how eventually she ended up meeting the man of her dreams.

Thank you Laurie for a very beautiful story that shows all is not lost when it seems everything around us is falling to pieces. You clearly showed us the beauty of allowing God to direct our steps and redeem the broken dreams of our lives. Heartache and a broken marriage sets Leslie on a road trip that will change her life forever. Read about her journey in this well-written, clean and refreshing story. I highly recommend this book.

Decided to run away from all my troubles for a few days and lose my myself in this book and I am so glad I did. I loved following the main character as she drove away from all her problems. I was with her right on that beach listening to the waves walking with my shoes in hand. A really enjoyable read.
