Christmas Delights (Redcakes Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 69 ratings

The sweetest gift is the hardest to unwrap. . .

Lady Victoria Allen-Hill never dreamed she'd be a widow at twenty-one—let alone a virgin. Her father insists that she attend a matchmaking house party in the snow-covered seaside town of Pevensey in hopes she'll find a suitable husband. But for Victoria, it's an opportunity to indulge in a passionate affair—and the handsome inventor she meets at the Christmas Eve masquerade ball may be just the man for the job. . .

Lewis Noble is the cousin of London's famed Redcake sisters, so it almost stands to reason that he's just as irresistible as one of their sugar-iced pastries. Lewis catches the eye of every woman at the party—but Victoria is the only one who catches his. He won't be tied down in her father's business, but watching other men court her amid a flurry of engagements ignites a jealousy he's never felt before. A dose of honesty may be just the thing to mend their broken hearts—for many holidays to come. . .

"Before I realized it, the unusually strong and well-developed characters of The Kidnapped Bride had sneaked up on me and captured my full attention. This is one of the best shorter books I have ever read.

--Delle Jacobs, author of
Lady Wicked

"A delightful, sexy glimpse into Victorian life and loving with two wonderfully non-traditional lovers."

--Jessa Slade, author of

I loved reading Christmas Delights (Redcakes), all about Victoria Allen-Hill, Penelope Courtnay & Lewis Noble who meet on the side of the road on the way to Pevensey-Sur-Mer Fort in Sussex England for the Christmas holidays to be held at the mansion for twelve nights & thirteen days. Lewis is an inventor and is also staying at the Fort with is apprentice Eddy at the request of the Baron to help finish building the submarine and then to laugh it. Victoria is looking for a husband per her father's orders, but she's actually looking to lose her virginity! You see she was married for one day, then her husband Sir Humphrey took I'll and died a week later and never consummated their marriage. The author wrote a very interesting story, and the characters absolutely make the story come to life. This is the fourth book in the Redcakes series, and it's amazing. You have read this series in order, so you get a feel for each of the family members, because they all show up in each book after a fashion. Read this book and all the others because they will make you laugh, cry, sigh, shake your head and cum up a storm. They are quite scandalize but will keep your attention from page one until the last page. I hope you enjoy reading about the Redcakes, as much as I've enjoyed reading about them.

Victoria, a widowed virgin (!) and Lewis, a Victorian geek, might not seem to be the most obvious duo to pair up. But in this addition to Heather Hiestand's Redcakes series, they end up being ideal for each other when you add Christmas, a house party for the Twelve Nights of the holiday and some chemistry. A fun holiday read.

More intrigue and love in the Redcakes family. Many twists and turns, but always easy to relate to previous books in the series. The ease of following this family through their loves, losses, and intrigues makes this series of books a "must read"

This is a book for the keeper shelf. Well written, full of drama and romance and, yes, some very lusty country party goers. Victoria is being put in a position where, to her, her choices are nonexistent. She has come to this party hoping for a romantic affair but she did not expect to fall in love. Her father has other ideas about who is suitable for her and forces her hand. Lewis is certainly willing to accommodate the beautiful Victoria with a holiday affair but he has no wish for a marriage and especially not to a woman so under her father's thumb. How will these two ever get together and will they? That is the why this book is so superbly plotted, we also keep turning pages to find out how the lovers can live happily ever after.

Confession time. I read book #1 in the Redcake Series, THE MARQUIS OF CAKE, but I did not read #'s 2, 3 & 4. Lucky for me and all of you readers this is a standalone novel and you will not get lost, but like me I'm sure you will want to catch up on those Redcakes.

I received this book free for review from the publisher.

It was a little slower than the other books in the series. Everything was just so back an forth, does she, does she not.

I love following a good series, and this one is great. This is a short story, but it is filled with strong characters and a good love story. I have been waiting for Lewis' story and I wasn't disappointed.

This is book 5 in the Redcakes series.

Lady Victoria Allen-Hill never imagined that she would be a widow and a virgin. Looking to have a passionate affair before her father makes her re-marry, Victoria thinks that inventor Lewis Noble would be the perfect one to divest her of her unwanted status.

Lewis knows that Victoria must marry again and he is not willing to bend to her father's dictate that the man she marries relocate and run his business. But Victoria has caught his eye and he isn't about to turn down her offer of coming to his bed.

But what does it mean when he becomes jealous every time a potential suitor vies for Victoria's hand?

I enjoyed this story. It's not often that you find a widow that is in need of divesting herself of her virginity. It also wasn't your typical ton romance and that made it all the more interesting to me.

It's always fun to see what the Redcake family is up to and this holiday store will not disappoint you.

Thanks go out to eKensington via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.
